I form the light, and created darkness: I make peace, and created evil: I LORD do all these things.   Isaiah 45:7

The above Translation comes from the KJV, but the NKJV states calamity and not evil, while the Complete Jewish Bible states woe instead of evil.  I would suggest that calamity and woe are much better for the translation as the thought is not that God created sin, but that He created the judgment for the sin.  We see this by reading the following passage:

Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? shall there be evil in a city, and the LORD hath no done it?  Amos 3:6

One again the KJV states evil while the NKJV states calamity.  Evil is an acceptable translation but calamity gives a more modern understanding.  The Complete Jewish Bible uses the term disaster.  That is God will judge sin by allowing calamity, woe, disaster these types of evil to befall.  But He will never have anything to do with sin, with the exception of allowing His dear Son Jesus to become sin for us that we might be saved, John 1:29; II Corinthians 5:21,

So that we see that God is not the Author of any sinful thing, James 1:13,  who can only give us good gifts thru Jesus Christ, James 1:17; Romans 8:31-32.

There is a lot that can be said for perspective.  Our frame of reference lacks true perspective of Gods ability to deliver one from the evil in the world.  We are subject to evil, calamity, disasters and such the like and have a tendency to think less of God because of them.  Wasn't it God himself whonsaid he would raise up an enemy of David from within his own house?

God is Holy, impartial.  This is displayed in the meeting between Joshua and the Angel of the Lord who when asked if he were for or against them said neither.  God doesn't rake sides and his host of heaven is not partial.  They are merely arbitrators who work all things to the counsel of Gods will.

The word punish is a good word to study to help understand this.  We all know that a pun is a play on words and that -ish is a suffix that means that which pertains too.  Punishment is that which is meeted out to balance for sin partaken of.  When Cain slew his brother his punishment was that tge ground that swallowed his brothers blood would no longer produce food for him in abundance as it once had which was perfect for his sin involved envy of his brothers sacrifice being accepted while his was not.  Then we see that Cain had children stained by his sin because they were a new generation of him who God gave many abilities too that would offset the suffering of the sin of their father they might use in trade.

It is obvious to me that God full well knew that The Devil would fall before he ever created a single thing.  He knew that Jesus would have to die and be ressurected.  He knew about all the wars and hardships.  He knew how evil I would be. And most importantly he knew that it was all temporary.  He knew that wars would end.  Calamity would lose out to peace and that the whole world would be in subjection to him through his Christ the Messiah.

My persective has changed with time and experience.  In turn I have found that I have learned more about ruling over the evil present in my own house.  I find the beauty behind unbiased judgement of sin between siblings as my Father in Heaven reveals a need for.

Rather than seek the answer of why did God create evil maybe we ought to work on becoming Holy that we might see and rule over evil instead of being subject unto the evil of the day.  Even Jesus our Lord commanded the wind and the waves and they obeyed him.

Peace!

Jerry

Isaiah 54:16   Behold, I have created the smith that bloweth the coals in the fire, and that bringeth forth an instrument for his work; and I have created the waster to destroy.

God is in control of his creation.  Everything was perfectly thought out and planned before creation even began. God is all knowing, knowing the end at the beginning.

Isaiah 46:10   Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:

Just because God created evil does not mean that evil dwells in him or with him, it's part of his plan that there be opposition.  If there is no evil then how does righteousness stand out?, if no lies, then how does truth shine?  If no transgression, then what part does mercy play?

It's all structured.  Nothing happened by accident. God put evil here so that we can have resistance.  Evil is God's tool for separating the good from the wicked.  Evil is like a magnet, it will draw men who love it, and God created Satan for this very purpose, to divide.

Evil will be destroyed in the end after it has served it's purpose.

Yes, contrast. Light, darkness, etc.

Just as darkness is the absence of light, and not something that is "created" per se, it exists. Evil is the absence of God.

"For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:" Col 1:16

There are a people who believe because of God's sovereignty that anything that is must be due to His will.... This however lies in
direct conflict with God's own witness of Himself:
http://www.gotquestions.org/Isaiah-45-7.html  creating evil

http://www.gotquestions.org/did-God-create-sin.html    understanding the why of sin

We know this has to be so for God proclaims:
Hab 1:13
Thou art of purer eyes than to behold evil, and canst not look on iniquity: wherefore
lookest thou upon them that deal treacherously, and holdest thy tongue when the
wicked devoureth the man that is more righteous than he?

KJV
The reasoning is- if God's person is such with disdain for evil He did not bring it about with His heart in creation...

"What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet. But sin, taking occasion by the commandment, wrought in me all manner of concupiscence. For without the law sin was dead. For I was alive without the law once: but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died. And the commandment, which was ordained to life, I found to be unto death. For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it slew meWherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good."

That got questions site is blocking people from the truth.  Evil is evil.  The newer translations don't like that word evil and love to come up with all these alternative Hebrew definitions from alternative manuscripts to water down the truth.

When God's word was made available to the gentiles and sent out throughout the earth, a very spectacular moment happened,  man could find God through the holy scriptures and trust his Word 100% to be accurate.  Salvation had come to the gentiles.  After a few teething problems, the holy scriptures in it's entirety was not released to the public in Hebrew, but in English, exactly the way God orchestrated and performed it.  The translators used were of God's choosing, as it was all in his hands that this be determined and accomplished.  ...But the enemy set out to destroy this trust we once had and provided learned men to entice us to be drawn away from this trust and lean on them instead for truth.  As soon as the Hebrew definitions became available to man, every man decided he would be the translator.  Well I think this is strange to appoint ourselves in this field when all the hard work was already done for us with God's hand on it.

All we have to do is read and seek what he is telling us, it's that simple.  Many are missing this point, and the world is carrying them away to a different gospel, a different Christ, and a different God to the one who is truly being revealed.

God created evil and he said so himself.  What we have to do next is to try and understand why he did this?,..what are his reasons and his motives in doing this?  We have to find these answers and be ready to give everyone who asks an answer that is solid and in total harmony with everything else he has revealed in his plan.

God bless.

We all answer for the truth that comes to us that we accept or reject... What God had written down in Hebrew
must agree with what he has written down elsewhere in Hebrew else God is divided. We know that is not the
case! You have dismissed the reasoning above to satisfy you own demands of what truth is... I believe it is
skewed from what God teaches us about Himself. He has and never will have part with evil period! He did
curse the world for the sin that occurred and this is what God is speaking of here...

Steven,

Was that for me ? I wasn't aware that I have "dismissed the reasoning above to satisfy you own demands of what truth is."

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
