Most of the time, I believe, the trouble we experience is the consequence of our sin. That God is not so much in the clobbering business. But he does prevent more mishaps and evil that could happen to us than we may realize. 1 Corinthians 5:5 suggests a removal of that protective hedge in order to preserve your spirit and secure your salvation God will turn you over to the devil for the destruction of your body. It seems to be a last resort sort of thing done to a believer who refuses to repent of a particular sin (in this case lust / incest / adultery but in whatever sin it may be).

And at the same time God prescribes 1 John 2:1, 1 John 1:9, 1 John 1:7, Psalm 38, Psalm 51, Romans 7:14 - 8:39 to deal with this ongoing flaw in our characters.

Being mindful of these verses in light of:

Ezekiel 33:18–19 (AV)

18 When the righteous turneth from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, he shall even die thereby.

19 But if the wicked turn from his wickedness, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall live thereby.

And...

Isaiah 54:8–9 (AV)

8 In a little wrath I hid my face from thee for a moment; but with everlasting kindness will I have mercy on thee, saith the LORD thy Redeemer.

9 For this is as the waters of Noah unto me: for as I have sworn that the waters of Noah should no more go over the earth; so have I sworn that I would not be wroth with thee, nor rebuke thee.

John 16:27 (AV)

27 For the Father himself loveth you, because ye have loved me, and have believed that I came out from God.

Again, cut off an appendage in this life it will never grow back. So there are consequences built into the world we live in.

And getting hung up on passages like the Sermon on the Mount, remember most of it referred to the Old Covenant as it was to get that Covenant back on track proving the futility of any attempt to save ones self. It was to drive us to Grace (Galatians 3:23-24).

We must also remember we have a guest onboard our private ship (the USS Selfish) and that guest is the Holy Spirit living in us. When we go into sin we take our guest with us grieving the Holy Spirit who loves us. I don't know about you but I should spend a lot more time not grieving him.

Question: "Does God punish us when we sin?"

Answer:
In order to answer this question, we first need to distinguish between punishment and discipline. For believers in Jesus, all our sin—past, present, and future—has already been punished on the cross. As Christians, we will never be punished for sin. That was done once for all. “There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus” (Romans 8:1). Because of the sacrifice of Christ, God sees only the righteousness of Christ when He looks at us. Our sin has been nailed to the cross with Jesus, and we will never be punished for it.

The sin that remains in our lives, however, does sometimes require God’s discipline. If we continue to act in sinful ways and we do not repent and turn from that sin, God brings His divine discipline to bear upon us. If He did not, He would not be a loving and concerned Father. Just as we discipline our own children for their welfare, so does our heavenly Father lovingly correct His children for their benefit. Hebrews 12:7-13 tells us, "As you endure this divine discipline, remember that God is treating you as his own children. Whoever heard of a child who was never disciplined? If God doesn't discipline you as he does all of his children, it means that you are illegitimate and are not really his children after all. Since we respect our earthly fathers who disciplined us, should we not all the more cheerfully submit to the discipline of our heavenly Father and live forever? For our earthly fathers disciplined us for a few years, doing the best they knew how. But God's discipline is always right and good for us because it means we will share in his holiness. No discipline is enjoyable while it is happening—it is painful! But afterward there will be a quiet harvest of right living for those who are trained in this way.”

Discipline, then, is how God lovingly turns His children from rebellion to obedience. Through discipline our eyes are opened more clearly to God's perspective on our lives. As King David stated in Psalm 32, discipline causes us to confess and repent of sin we have not yet dealt with. In this way discipline is cleansing. It is also a growth catalyst. The more we know about God, the more we know about His desires for our lives. Discipline presents us with the opportunity to learn and to conform ourselves to the image of Christ (Romans 12:1-2). Discipline is a good thing!

We need to remember that sin is a constant in our lives while we are yet on this earth (Romans 3:1023). Therefore, we not only have to deal with God's discipline for our disobedience, but we also have to deal with the natural consequences resulting from sin. If a believer steals something, God will forgive him and cleanse him from the sin of theft, restoring fellowship between Himself and the repentant thief. However, the societal consequences of theft can be severe, resulting in fines or even incarceration. These are natural consequences of sin and must be endured. But God works even through those consequences to increase our faith and glorify Himself.

Yes, God punishes his people for their sin.  I am doing extensive research on the subject as we speak that I may better understand how to minister unto sinners.  Fear of God is truly the beginning of wisdom.

Thank you for asking!

God disciplines us as a Father disciplines his children.

It will seem grievous to the child when he or she is disciplined, but it is always with correction in mind, never punitive.

Beloved, (IMO) The Real Question Is

For if God did not spare the angels when they sinned, but cast them into hell, delivering them in chains to be held in gloomy darkness until their judgment; if He did not spare the ancient world when He brought the flood on its ungodly people, but preserved Noah, a preacher of righteousness, among the eight; if He condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah to destruction, reducing them to ashes as an example of what is coming on the ungodly; and if He rescued Lot, a righteous man distressed by the depraved conduct of the lawless (for that righteous man, living among them day after day, was tormented in his righteous soul by the lawless deeds he saw and heard)—

if all this is so, then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trials and to hold the unrighteous for punishment on the day of judgment. 2 Peter 2:4-9 (Berean Study Bible)

Does God Love You?

As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.

Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.

He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches. Revelation 3:19-22 (King James Version)

Your brother in Christ,

KPaulG.

Hello brother Paul, my input is deferent in some way, and I hope you find something in their.

No one can stop Jesus if he has to punish someone. Some times He does need to punish and for many reasons. He has punish me more than once.

He won't  punish to sent to Hell, of course not.

very ofen our behavior bothers other people, and he needs to do something and some times for the benefit of both parties.

There is something that is called; " general Detterance" and " specific Detterance", the time comes that he must address both.

just don't be afraid of his punishment.

He is not an eye against an eye.

In his love he turns the other chic.

But some times he must do something, and could be in a strange way.

One brother gave the following testimony;

He said; one time I was about to break into a house, ( an he dicrived the house), and the last moment he saw through the deem lights a police officer in the house.  Then he starter running away, and he slep and twisted badly his foot.

A lady in the audience approch him and said to him, this is my house and never a police officer has been in my home.

Did Jesus cause him to see hallousinasions and struck him with temporary paranoia, and started running and cause him to slip and twist his foot? And that's how eventualy he came to his repentance?

The other brother said. That he was very angry at his older brother and he took his pistol and was on the way to meet him. On the way, someone hit his car and he ended in the Hospital.

Was this coincidence or divine intervantion?

Another brother he trusted people too much, and he bought a "good" car with a lot of problems. He did not take it to a mechanic to have it check. He was punish that way but,  did he learn his lesson not to give blind trust to people?

God bless

Reason?  God is love.. what is love.. without benefiting some thing .. showing care and mercy compassion is LOVE

I am strongly believing

We are only choosing the way to get punishment,,

All correction is punative.  Punishment is given as a direct result of rising up above ones place.  In 'pun' hear the closely related 'pawn' for it is about being amade smaller.  Humility is best to avoid punishment.  In the scriptures the word for sin is sometimes translated punishment.  One is a direct result of the other.

Nevertheless do not forget that one can pay the price for another as Christ has born our sins upon the tree!

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
