I think God has told us that they are sent to us as prophets who have lived in the past but we have no record of their deaths, such as Elijah.

However, when we properly understand the Bible we realize that the purpose of the Old Testament and New point to Jesus, His blood sacrafice, and His redemption.  It starts in the Garden when God sacraficed animals to cover Adan and Eve's nakedness, shame and sin.  A blood sacrafice.  Then Cain and Able.  One was of grain and the other was an animal sacrafice.  So again blood was involved and was accepted by God.   We find these analolgies all through the Bible.  They all point to Jesus.  That is why Jesus spoke to the men on the road to Emmaus and showed them all the Scriptures that pertained to Him.  Many prophecies were exactly fulfilled by Him, from Job throughout all Scriptures.

The better we know God now, the more we understand Him in the past, and vice versa.  I can believe in miracles because of what I have seen today in answers to prayer and healing among my friends and family.  There is also no contradiction in Scripture.  They reveal a God Who is consistant in personality.  He reveals Himself in how He has dealt with Israel.  We are told that these things are recorded so we won't make the same mistakes.

But people who don't have the Holy Spirit will think the Scriptures are foolishness.  We have to accept Christ as our Savior and Lord to understand the Bible properly.  Then it takes time as we learn first the lessons that we need the most and apply them to our lives.  God doesn't tell a spiritual toddler to memorize the Talmud, even though this might be good.  We ususally tell people to read the Gospel of John.

The other religions and cults you mentioned do not provide a Savior to forgive our sins and make us acceptable to God just by believing in Him.  Most have a list of dos and don'ts and esthics that must be subscribed to to reach heaven or a state of nothingness, depending on the religions.  Many are religions of hate or fear.  Ours is a belief in God's love, and a God who came into us to love others through us.

They are prophets prophesying so if no prophecy comes to us through the mouths of prophets after John seals the book. then it doesn't matter if they are prophets of the past or prophets a new if prophecy is ended. They either had come before John finished that book or Johns seal was for His prophecy.

Rev 11 3 And I will appoint my two witnesses, and they will prophesy for 1,260 days, clothed in sackcloth.” 4They are “the two olive trees” and the two lampstands, and “they stand before the Lord of the earth.”a 5If anyone tries to harm them, fire comes from their mouths and devours their enemies. This is how anyone who wants to harm them must die. 6They have power to shut up the heavens so that it will not rain during the time they are prophesying; and they have power to turn the waters into blood and to strike the earth with every kind of plague as often as they want.

My 2 cents. forgive me if I offend anyone who believes that doctrine.

That whole seal teaching on the 66 books is superstitious verse doctrine to me and has no basis in the Word. If you read the context of the verses used to support that doctrine they don't. . Besides adding to His words to make them a seal on all prophecy and is exactly something we are warned not to do (it is adding to His words).. Jesus used the same word translated book in rev 22 that he used  Luke 4:17, 20; John 20:30; Galatians 3:10; 2 Timothy 4:13, etc.; a written document; a sheet on which something has been written, βιβλίον ἀποστασίου (bill of divorcement): Matthew 19:7; Mark 10:4; see ἀποστάσιον, 1. βιβλίονζωῆς, the list of those whom God has appointed to eternal salvation: Revelation 13:8 (Rec. τῇ βίβλῳ);

I'm sorry but I believe Its superstition for people afraid to listen for the Lords voice.

I do not believe Johns words were a seal on the 66 books any more then Moses speaking the same words ended Gods work in Deuteronomy 4:2. Johns words were the Lords seal on His writings.

Jesus was talking about John the baptist if you read the context of Mathew 11:13

Look, I am sending My messenger ahead of You;
he will prepare Your way before You.[c]

11 “I assure you: Among those born of women no one greater than John the Baptist has appeared,[d] but the least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he. 12 From the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven has been suffering violence,[e] and the violent have been seizing it by force. 13 For all the prophets and the Law prophesied until John; 14 if you’re willing to accept it, he is the Elijah who is to come.15 Anyone who has ears[f] should listen!

Matthew 11:5 Lit cleansed

Matthew 11:10 Lit messenger before Your face

Matthew 11:10 Mal 3:1

Matthew 11:11 Lit arisen

Matthew 11:12 Or has been forcefully advancing

Matthew 11:15 Other mss add to hear

Matthew 11:17 Or beat your breasts

Matthew 11:19 Or declared right

Matthew 11:19 Other mss read children

Matthew 11:25 Or thank

Matthew 11:26 Lit was well-pleasing in Your sight

Matthew 11:27 Or knows exactly

Matthew 11:27 Or wills, or chooses

verse numbers breaking that up were added in the 16oos it reads.

 “I assure you: Among those born of women no one greater than John the Baptist has appeared,[d] but the least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he. From the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven has been suffering violence,[e] and the violent have been seizing it by force. For all the prophets and the Law prophesied until John; if you’re willing to accept it, he is the Elijah who is to come.15 Anyone who has ears[f] should listen!

If you change it like you said then mid He stopped mid sentence announced the younger john told us the younger John is elijah that comes to announce messiah then swithches right back to scripture showing John the baptist is the prophesied elijah. It looks like a false verse doctrine to me.

Matthew 11:5 Lit cleansed

Reintin

I see that Jesus was prophesying and speaking to both groups - Israel, back then and to us today.

John the baptist was the last prophet for Israel under the law- he was announcing Christ's arrival, and he was the greatest of the prophets because he was the one that personally got to meet their Christ.

It's the "message" from God that is more important than the "messenger"  Israel kept looking for "the one", that fits the description on the outside, eg with Jesus;

Matthew 11:8   But what went ye out for to see? A man clothed in soft raiment? behold, they that wear soft clothing are in kings' houses.

The Jews were always waiting on the "outside appearance" to match what they were expecting.  They did not take pleasure in hearing "the message" of the "messenger".

The same with John.

John was announcing the arrival of Christ.  The Jews having this scripture in mind and waiting for this one to come first;

  Malachi 4:5   Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD:

But Elijah did not come, John did instead.  What they didn't know is that the prophecy in Malachi is referring to "the end times", not then, but another 2000 yrs plus away.

Jesus came to give light, not to judge.  When he returns he will judge the nations and it will be "great and dreadful" for the world as Malachi states.

John the baptist came in the "Spirit" of Elijah.  In the same "spirit of God" as the prophets before him.

Israel already had Elijah come, and they did not hear him the first time, nor the other prophets, so why would they accept what John the baptist was announcing?

Jesus said he would not give that generation a sign because of their unbelief;

 Mark 8:12   And he sighed deeply in his spirit, and saith, Why doth this generation seek after a sign? verily I say unto you, There shall no sign be given unto this generation.

Jesus tripped them up.  Made it confusing for them to understand.  He did this all time because he knew their hearts.

So John the baptist was Israel's type of "Elijah", who came in the "spirit of God", but the real Elijah, who never saw death and was taken up in a chariot, is preserved to be brought back in the last days as one of the two "witnesses" of God to Israel and also the world.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

      Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

      This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

      You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

      Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

      I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

      For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

      2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

      So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

      Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
      Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

      Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

      As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

      Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
      Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

      So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
