I wonder why those around him haven't united to form a coup and over throw this cruel creature ? what people have endured under him.   Why the military would be loyal to him must be beyond just having fear. I guess none of them can trust anyone, you'd think there would be attempts on his life from within.

Fear is a very powerful weapon.

Yes, but it's complicated.  The people see him as a god mostly and, if they don't, they sure don't tell anyone.  I am hoping he will be overthrown from within.

After reading through all of this, I'd take a middle ground sort of position. I don't see why we don't just stick some AEGIS cruisers off the korean peninsula and start using their test missiles as target practice.

It's like dealing with a bully.   Most of the time, all you have to do is give him a swollen lip or bloody nose and he backs off.  You don't have to do a full on assault and beat him to ground and all that.

N Korea talks big and bag and they blow a lot of smoke.  But I reckon we can administer an attitude adjustment with some well placed strikes that give N Korea a bloody nose and suddenly taking on the US will quickly become overrated.

Wow, we do have a lot of war hawks on this board!

It's a good idea to have war hawks among the doves, RG.  That makes for a balanced, reasonable society.  And one that has built a military unmatched, by anyone, ever.  It would be kinda dumb to have the capability to neuter a rogue nation, who has nukes, and to just sit on that capability.  I've never been in combat and I sure don't want to see a war but, I'm a realist, sometimes bad things have to be done for the greater good.

Yes, plus there is probably  hidden surveillance everywhere and no one knows who would turn them in. The way he has had those closest to him murdered in the most barbaric ways like his uncle. His people need to cry out to the GOD of the bible and not their ancestors or whatever NK religion was before this dictatorship.

I think we should all pray that the people of N.K. will do just that.  It would sure be better for Kim Jung Un to be overthrown by his people than by us.

I have always been fascinated by the term "rouge nation".  just what makes on a "rogue nation"?   Seems that invading sovereign nations that are no threat to you,  interfering in the free elections of countries, sending missiles into countries that are no threat to you...all sound like the actions of a rogue nation.
