Warn them before God against quarreling about words; it is of no value, and only ruins those who listen," (2 Timothy 2:14), and "Have nothing to do with foolish, ignorant controversies; you know that they breed quarrels." (2 Timothy 2:23). You know words have multiple meanings, so its disingenuous to shame someone for saying how they view contention. Argument has two well known connotations, it can be dispute and contain harsh behavior, or it can be "I make my argument based on these facts" and it is done in a more scholastic and academic way. Fighting over words is really what Apostle says, "of no value." The actual merit of the wisdom taught us that using the wrong definition in a word affords no merit to progress in rational , reasonable, intellectually honest discussion. For instance. If someone wants to discuss classic cars from the early 20th century era but they choose to use their own definition for classic car first. An intellectually honest discussion concerning what is actually classified as classic car is impossible. Because the object , the noun in this case, that is to be addressed is not actually cars that are classic models.

Actually words can vary greatly in meaning, taking anointed, it can mean the Messiah (The Anointed One), someone anointed with oil like the prophets and kings, it can be someone who speaks with authority, it can mean specific anointing like from former saint, and it can mean they are simply gifted. So how we each understand the world, where our minds first go can effect the conversation immensely.
