I'm not against both, but both have a lot of waste, a lot of corruption and is overly abused. By cutting back their budget it will force them to be more selective in who they divy money to, and hopefully more people who actually need it will get the benefits while booting out the slackers and those abusing the system. I'm going to add something to this. Random drug screening should be added to the requirements for the programs. I've been on food stamps twice. Once for about 3 months and again 2 years later for about 6 months - because I couldn't make enough to pay rent and buy food. The abuses of the system are real. I spent 15 years in the Air Force and lived with random drug testing for that entire time. It keeps people honest, but there are always those who try to game any system. I have no issue with anyone who really needs the help since that's what the programs are for, but there needs to be some accountability. Layabouts don't need to be getting high on our tax money. You should take that as 'I think' being about the subject at hand. I really dislike anyone telling me, or anyone else, how they think. It's condescending. Just sayin'.

Just makes me wonder is all. They cut the fat out of programs. Food Stamps and welfare are two of the most abused programs we have. We have 2nd generation welfare recipients and in some cases, where I live, 3rd generation welfare recipients. They know how to game the system and use government assistance as a permanent form of income. Their kids get on it it and stay on it. And they run around town to all of the churches that have benevolence programs and game them, too. Then they hit the soup houses and other charities. It is really obscene. The programs need to be thinned out and able bodied poor people need to be forced to find jobs and pay taxes instead of living off of the taxpayer.
