The Liberals are saying that she won by distancing herself from Trump.  Not true....

Then candidate Trump only defeated Hillary by 1.5 points last fall in Atlanta's affluent, suburban 6th District; Handel needed to keep Trump close -- but not too close, especially after Trump misspelled her name in a tweet.

Doesn't really matter.

Shocking, the GOP held on to a seat they have held since the 70s.

Not really shocking.   Just reinforces the point that the Democrats simply can't win.  They have lost EVERY special election.  There are no more elections now until 2018.

Yeah, CA basically tried to buy the election of Ossoff.  CA is the new Russia.

I think they need to appoint a special counsel to investigate California's meddling in Georgia's election.   :24:

Actually, most of the outside money went to Handel, not Ossoff.   Handel got $18.2 million in outside SuperPac money while Ossoff got $8 million.

57 million dollars spent on one election, absolutely ridiculous, no wonder we are so far in debt as a nation.

But another way to look at that is this:  The problem of 'too much money spent in elections' may ultimately be a self-correcting one.

Most money is spent on TV ads - and maybe the law of diminishing returns is coming into play.  The more negative TV ads that run against candidate A, it actually hurts candidate B.  I think there is a saturation point when it comes to commercials, and people reached it long ago.

Hollywood spent millions, yet their candidate still lost.  Lesson learned? Perhaps one can hope 'celebrities' will go back to their gated mansions in Beverly Hills and Malibu and simply return to play acting.

Blessings,

-Ed

EVERY...as in all 4!  :24:

This same things was taking place back in 2009-2010.  Do you remember all the to-do about the special election to replace John Murtha, the Dem?  It was the GOP's chance to show that they could take back seats...but they lost in a close election.  At the time the Dems were saying "see, the GOP can't win elections" and the GOP was talking about the good sign of how close the battle was.

There is nothing new in politics in our country, it is a pendulum that will continue to swing back and forth between the left and the right.

Yes and they were supposed to be a harbinger of defeat for Trump in each case, especially the GA election.  In each case, they were touted as a referendum on Trump.   Turns out, they are a referendum on the Democrats.

You're missing the point.  The point is that the Democrats use a lot of emotion and bluster;  they blow a lot of smoke,  but at the end of the day, they have no substance.   If Trump were as bad as his critics keep carping and whining that he is, then the Dems should have taken those seats in the special elections.

I rather like the woman on the right. She has quite a deer in the headlights look. Whether they were just caught during a commercial or actually stunned by the results, its a rather comical photo.

This was touted in the news as a win for the democrats, a message against trump. I saw the headlines (and ignored them) for days prior to this election, if not weeks before. The media made a big deal of this.
