We had it set on 60X and could almost make out the craters. Taking photos of something that far away is challenging without NASA's equipment but it can be done. Just Google it. Needless to say, there was ZERO interference with the stargazing on a clear night. We spent some unforgettable nights just looking in awe. Incidentally, my father (retired from NASA) pointed out satellites that we could actually watch in orbit -- tiny pinpricks moving noticeably across the night sky.
