yes i know its wrong, but how is it committing adultery? i have already understood that its a sin, but according to the webster dictionary, i do not understand how pornography is committing adultery

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Does it matter what type of sin it is?

Regardless, one definition for "adulterate" is, "To make impure by adding extraneous, improper, or inferior ingredients." See it yet? That is SIN!

Therefore ALL sin in a sense is a from of adultery. We are the Bride of Christ. We are betrothed to HIM and must prepare ourselves for HIS return.

Revelation 19

7 "Let us rejoice and be glad and give the glory to Him, for the marriage of the Lamb has come and His bride has made herself ready."

8 It was given to her to clothe herself in fine linen, bright and clean; for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints.

So yes, pornography is a sin and in a spiritual sense it is adultery because it dirties our linen so to speak...a stain that can only be cleaned out by the Blood of the Lamb. So we must continuously ask ourselves... Are we doing doing our part to prepare the Bride (the Body of believers) for the return of the Bridegroom? We are after all betrothed (promised) to HIM.

Bless you my young brother,

Wayne

Hey mate,

Well you see, unless you see a wrong in watching pornography we can only pray.

The world revolving around pornography is one dark hell hole.

Unless you can imagine a reason why anyone would do it willingly.

Although in the up and coming Hollywood Religion it is a reality.

It is someones wife/husband, sister/brother, son/daughter and unless you realize that it will be a long hard road giving up Pornography.

Trust me there is no other way than the Bible, no better weapon than prayer and no stronger medicine than fellowship.

If you really want to give up stop worrying about what the dictionary says and listen to some of the advice that you have been getting in this thread.

Start praying and listen to your heart, I was in some bad company and porn was like the morning corn flakes to us.

Even back then I knew I hated the watching deep inside.

I am sure you do.

If you wanna break free, just ask God to hold your hand and set your heart and body free.

We at worthy will also pray for you.

I thought I'd ask a question that does have something to do with this topic.

I have a friend who, if he isn't addicted to porn, then he just looks at it waaay too much. We were boyfriend and girlfriend last year and as far as I knew, he didn't look at porn. But now, he spends hours looking at pictures and masturbates because he says it hurts when he doesn't. I know next to nothing about that aspect of male physiology, so I never know what to say in the face of that. I try to tell him that it hurts his witness with his roommate (the guy is nosy, so he has to know what my friend is doing) and that it damages his relationship with God. But it's like it goes in one ear and out the other. He agrees that porn is a sin but he won't do anything about it, as if it's too hard to stop to even bother trying. Also, he believes it keeps him from having sex. I prayed with him last night and he seemed really touched by it. He said he'd think about all that I said. What do I do now? Just sit back and watch him take the plunge into the pit I know he's teetering on the edge of?

you cant convict him... only God can do that. Just pray for him, and make sure that you live a sexually pure life in front of him. Only God can deal with his sin...even though it probably hurts you to watch him live like this...but ultimately it's up to God...I feel that you have done all you can do.

is pornography a sin?

my friends say so, but they dont really have any scriptures to back it up. please give me your input. thanks

I don't know if you have a relationship with Christ or not. Yes, pornography is a sin. I know people have already listed scriptures so I won't. Pornography can consume your mind and totally block your relationship with Christ. Flee from it!! There is a video and book called "Every Young Man's Battle". Very good. Get them and check out if you can. One thing they said on the video is that without fail, every man on death row has been involved with pornography. I'm not saying it will end you up on death row but it is a horrible thing. It will also affect your marriage in a negative way someday.

Another thing you can do to help yu combat pornography is getting a porn filter on your computer. I have always had one since I have had high-speed internet. Without it....I am just too tempted to get back into bad habits.

If you haven't downloaded one I would do so ASAP.

My heart breaks over the number of Chrisitan people addicted to pornography. I know how it can captivate a life and become its master. I know many people who are "trying" to quit, too. You can't do it! Only God can do it through you. But, you have to do your part. You have to want it out of your life so badly that you will do whatever it takes to get rid of it. You can't "try" to quit. You have to surrender your will to God's will for your life and you have to let go and let God. You have to turn from the pornography and turn to God in repentance. You have to go the other direction. Please read:

"You have heard that it was said,

Rom 13:14 Clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the sinful nature.

Titus 2:11-12 The grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men. It teaches us to say ''NO'' to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and goldy lives in this present age.

Eph 2:3 All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our sinful nature and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we are by nature objects of wrath.

1 peter 1:14-16 As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. But just as He who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do, for it is written: ''Be holy, because I am holy.''

1 peter 2:11 Dear friends, I urge you, as aliens and strangers in the world, to abstain from sinful desires, which war against your soul

Romans 8:5-8 Those who live according to the sinful nature have their minds set on what that nature desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. The mind of sinful man is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace; the sinful mind is hostile to God. It does not submit to God's law, nor can it do so. Those controlled by the sinful nature cannot please God.

It is important to remember that you cannot just tell yourself not to think about it .... try not thinking about a pink elephant for the next five minutes ... see... all that is in your mind is that pink elephant .... what you have to do ... it is imperative... you must replace this passion (for that is what it is) for something you love even more... If you are in Christ, then He should be the center and focus of all you think, breathe and do... think of what will be pleasing to Him... and remember at all times God is watching you.

Remember also that if you rely on your own strength, it will be difficult, perhaps even impossible to be completely victorious.

James 4:7 tells us ''Submit yourselves, therefore, to God. Resisit the devil and he will flee from you.'' Too may people only quote the second portion of this verse... but the essential part is the beginning.

A lot of good advice people.

I read "every young woman's battle" and it was excellent. I also would encourage you to find or buy "every young man's battle". Prayer is very important too. One other thing, having someone you are accountable to is always a good idea.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
