The Ephesians 4:11 giftings (also called 5-fold ministry) is very important for the reasons stated in 4:12-13.

1.) Equiping of the Saints for the work of the Ministry.

2.) Until we all come to the UNITY OF THE FAITH.

According to Eph 4:11...

You are either one of the five fold ministries, or you are being trained by a five fold minister to be a five fold minister. "equiping of saints for work of ministry"

Unity of faith- we will not have unity in the Messiah that G-d wants until the fivefold gifts (including the training for all the saints) come into function.

In this day we are lacking prophets and apostles.

prophets- those who hear from G-d and provide direction for the church

apostles/ shlichim- church planters and those who watch out for wolves and false doctrine in the church. usually operate in signs and wonders. pioneers. Sent ones.

This would make for an interesting discussion, but do not a lot of missionaries do this kind of work?

Granted, signs and wonders might be a bit lacking, but that's a major problem of our modern-day (at least in the Western world) church.

Aren't we all supposed to hear from G-d. I do understand about the giftings...I'm just wondering...Why are people seeking G-d's voice through other people...when in fact He is talking to them.

Once again...Who is the Church..or should I say..Where is the church?

nebula,

The word missionary is not in the NT, however the word apostle (sent one) is.

The term missionary is an unbiblical word used for that particular office. The word apostle is a better word. However, deed is more important than semantics.

ahavah,

you jumped into the question of the century. Miriam and Aaron asked the same question and Moses answered , " I wish that all G-d's people would prophesy."

I personally believe at the outpouring of the Spirit (according to Joel's prophesy) at Pentecost, we were all made to prophesy as part of our believing walk. 1 Cor 14 explains that in each meeting some prophesy and teach in turn and others judge. This was in the frame of a house congregation in that time. In other words, they were all called to prophesy and hear from G-d. John 10 says His sheep hear His voice and they know it and follow it.

I personally believe that the 1 Cor 12 gifts is not one gift that G-d gives to each person, however as the Spirit wills he gives every gift to all believers whenever the need arises. Just like the fruit of the Spirit is not " you have love, and I have patience", yet we should desire them all. 1 Cor 1 Paul states that he would have us come short in no gift. So this means prophesying , one of the gifts, is also for everyone.

There is a difference, however, in prophesying (something all believers should do) and being a prophet. Prophesy effects my life and people around my life. However, being a prophet you effect a nations life or even the body of Messiah at large's life.

By Church I mean = body of Messiah worldwide, citywide, or nationwide. In a large sense, not the local church.

Shalom Jewishheart, :73_73:

Are we really 'lacking' prophets and emissaries? Or is the 'Church' not looking for them in the right places? Are they trying to eat figs from a grapefruit tree? And then again, has not Yeshua lead us all into a time just as this? Is this not his leading to present this passion play the way it is appearing?

The Lord is a giver of all good gifts... we just need to ask Him the right things. Many of us do not understand the importance of godly gifts in our lives and how to bless others with the gifts from God. Most of the time I see it as we have never asked God.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
