Perhaps Bush feels that Abbas is friendlier than most palistinians that could take his place , so he is showing support by trying to buy palistinian support

Bingo, and as far as foreign aid is concerned this is probably the best way to spend it.

I don't see anything at all inconsistant in what the President has done. His ultimate goal is to promote peace in the area, this could help and will not hurt in any case.

The President, as good a man as he is, is no different than past Presidents when it comes to this particular issue. Every President has tried to be "even-handed" and that is not what the Arabs want. They do not want an even-handed solution; they want Israel destroyed. Every administration, including the current one, has failed to understand this. They fail to understand that the Arab governemnts are taking advantage of what they perceive as the general naivete of the West.

When we talk about "peace" we are talking about bilateral goodwill and a prosperous, mutually beneficial relationship between nations. When the PA and Co. are talking about "peace," they mean an "armed truce." They posture themselves as diplomats and talk about "a just peace for the Middle East" on the world stage, and then go behind the curtains and laugh at the "gullable fools" in the West. That is really how the Arab governments look at us.

We need to pray that the Lord will guide President Bush and send Godly influences who will encourage him to honor God's covenant with Israel. I believe that President Bush supports Israel, but is getting some poor advice from his people.

The only way there will be any semblance of peace in the Middle East before the Messiah comes, is for the Palestinians and the Arab world to recognize Israel's right to exist, and halt all attempts of, and calls for, Israel's destruction.

And just as happened to Job, He has given His permission for it to happen. It will happen..... is happening, and the only thing we can do about it is not be caught up in it. Because the Lord in on the throne is no reason for Lucifer not to do the things that the Lord has told us is to happen.

Shilo, the next three years will be the deciding factor as to which of us is correct.

I'm sure that in the end everyone left will blame those dogmatic Muslims and Jews and those crazy Christians who felt that they had to stick up for the Jewish side of things. Just look at what fundamental religion has done to the world.... their all just crazies so good riddance to them all.

If the people of this country had listened to those like me 60 years ago the Holocaust would not have happened. No lessons have been learned and you all still don't listen and it is about to happen again; only this time we are scheduled to go with the Jews.

The same families that created the first one are still controlling things.... still following the same entity. People like me tried to tell my father's generation and they didn't listen, and people are not listening now. The plan for this part is to do us all and not just the Jews...... and with the help of people like yourself who are so focused on the plight of Israel that they can't see the danger to literally every single person on this planet, including most of the little nation of Israel.

If you do really think it can be changed, the only way you are going to do it is to stop the hate, and you can't do that with guns. It's been tried off and on for about 4 or 5 thousand years.

I just don't think I could live with myself without at least trying to show you all what is coming to pass, and there is no one that I can see that is trying to stop the bloodbath that is on the horizon.

So what I am saying is to get yourself ready to meet your maker for time is short, just as it was for the first century Christians.

And don't give me the old everyone thought the end was near for 2,000 years, for until 1967 Israel has not had controll of Jerusalem and that was the only thing that Jesus told us about that could be put to any kind of day or time period. One generation from June 30,1967 and it will all come to pass........

Politically speaking, I don't see how Bush could do anything else.

He is trying to appeal to any and all moderate forces in the muslim world...and he probably owes Tony Blair a favor or two. England expects movement on this issue.

The purpose for giving Abbas this money is so the PA (Palestinian Authority) can start providing some of the humanitarian services needed in Gaza that are being given by Hamas presently.

These are treacherous waters but I believe Bush is doing exactly what he is supposed to be doing.

And it could mean the destruction of America...but not Israel. They don't need us for protection.

Only time will tell...but again....I don't see how Bush has any other choice (unless he wants to enrage the entire muslim world and Europe) but to make every attempt at ending the state of war in Israel. Even if he's doing it wrong.
