The Holy Bible is of course, by far, my most beloved book. But I got to thinking about my favorite books by Christian authors, and thought it would be great to hear about yours.

I have been so blessed by John Bunyans, revised and updated classic, The Pilgrims Progress.

I've been reading my way through Ted Dekker's books lately. They are really stunning.

Three books that have impacted me a great deal are:

The Problem of Pain C.S. Lewis

The Pursuit of God A.W. Tozer

The God Who is There Francis Schaeffer

The last one I think is of great importance to Christians to today. If you have been at all struggling with the philosophy behind the new theology that is invading churches all over the country, this book will give you the tools to understand it better.

"The End for which God created the World" by Jonathan Edwards. It's changing my whole view of God.In a nutshell: God created the world and us, only for His honour and glory.

My friend and I are starting to read and study "A History of Christian Doctrine Vol. 1:The Post Apostolic to the Middle Ages A.D. 100-1500" by David K. Bernard. It is a heavy book, but packed full of great information and truth about the history and evolution of doctrine in the christian faith.

I also like almost any book written on the history of the pentecostal movement in America. Any one have any good recommendations?

Ok, way too many to mention, but for the sake of arguement (and I know many disagree with me) The WHole Left Behind Series...Awesome, it really is.....

A Walk to Remember

The Notebook.....ANything by Nicholas Sparks is great....

Wow, so many more.

I have not taken the time to read the left behind books, but I have listen to all 12 of the audio theater dramas. They are great.

Why would many disagree on the the awesomeness of the Left Behind series? I know a great many people who were saved as a result of those books, many of whom were thought to be lost forever!

That aside, I like most anything by Chuck Swindoll.

*grin* I leave for a few days, and someone's started a discusion on one of my favorite topics: BOOKS!! *manic gleam comes to her eyes*

After the Bible, of course, I have many favorites...I've enjoyed C.S. Lewis since I was a child reading the Chronicles of Narnia, and now I find his Mere Christianity and The Screwtape Letters definitely rank near the top of my favorites list.

I've also enjoyed Francine River's "Lineage of Grace Series." These books are Unafraid (on Mary), Unshaken (Ruth), Unspoken (Bathsheba), Unveiled (Tamar), and Unashamed (Rahab). Basically, Rivers has taken the Biblical accounts of these women and (with the help of historical context) has gotten into their minds and shown a little more of the story. Wonderful books! I'd especially recommend them to women...Francine Rivers does tend to aim at us ladies as an audience

I'm laughing, here, Iryssa. Books are are one of my favorite topics, too!! I have *loved* to read ever since I was a child, and my Christian library is all over the house!

Thank you so much for sharing your favorites, brothers and sisters. This is great!!! And I can certainly understand those of you who have too many to mention or list.
