Our country will never be great until it treats ALL human beings as created equal

We do not treat people equally.

the rich and well-connected live well, while just down the block from their mansions are the homeless who sleep on the street every night. I talked to this one homeless person the other day.. been homeless for years. I didn't want to be all nosey and ask for all the details as to why, but she (like other homeless people I have met) didn't want to live in a shelter (so many rules..). Some of her family members were homeless with her. At least she had family.. I know of homeless people who have NO ONE.. In any case, until we provide for those who have nothing.. and I am NOT saying we should just (like the Dem candidate Yang says) hand them money. Some homeless people have money and yet, because the rent in some places is ridiculous.. and all the rules (can' have more than X number of people per bedroom, etc),  have to pay a big deposit that you can't count on getting back.. etc...

I could go on and on but I will leave it at that

Trump has apparently been talking about opening the mental institutions again. But the woman I talked to was not "mental"..  didn't at all seem like it anyhow..

A least Trump seems to be talking about providing for the homeless and the "disturbed."  I say to the Dems "We can't just give people money. We have TRIED THAT, for crying out loud.. But there should be a way to give them a JOB. They should be given priority when applying for work. They are not (most of them anyway) people to be feared. I think people fear the homeless.. Well, I admit, some of them look kind of scary but looks can be deceiving and etc... In any case, they are just as created equal as anyone else, and some of them are more law-abiding than the non-homeless

It is SO  not good.. to get people to the point where they feel they have no hope.. and many homeless people feel that way, especially the ones who have no family or friends. Believe it or not, it is NOT always their own fault.. Some families are just... I don't know.. I will just use the first word that came to mind.. evil

so true. I try to work to make society more Christ-like but I feel my efforts are in vain, for the most part..

probably the most tragic thing about the chronically homeless is that all their talents and gifts go to WASTE. They are caught up in survival alone..

I have known a couple who had exceptionally high IQs, one who knew a lot about history, etc, listened to "news" a lot (PBR.. not sure all that is real news but anyhow.. let's just say: he was interested in the world around him, had reasonable ideas on how to fix certain problems, etc.).

yeh, I know.. Who cares about these losers?

Jesus?

Maybe it is time to read Luke 16:19 (I believe it is).. you know, maybe we should read that every time we find ourselves looking down at these poor people who have nothing, thinking we are better, that God obviously loves us more than them

Back in the early 70's when I was still working in the TV business we did an investigative report on these guys that stand along the side of the road at busy intersections where cars have to stop for cross traffic.....     turned out that most of these people were making between 25 and 35 thousand dollars a year....   and back in 1972 that was a good chunk of money.

During the early 90's I worked nights in an area of Oklahoma City that the homeless were around most of the night and I got to know several of them....    Some have mental problems and others are on the streets because of drug addiction problems....    but a good number of them were there because that was where they wanted to be....   just didn't want to deal with the problems of having a house or live by all the rules of living in someone else's house...    They would go to a shelter during really bad weather, but just liked the camping out lifestyle.

I got to respect them a bit and would buy them a meal now and then when I could afford it.

Met a neurosurgeon one night and he bought my breakfast...   turned out that his wife had left him and he was tired of what he was doing at the hospital so he sold his house and just moved into the streets...   He took care of a lot of medical problems of the street people...    according to him, he helped a lot more people on the street than he did in the hospital....     so go figure...   we don't always understand what's going on in the world until we wade out into it..

I do feel sorry for some people on the street...   but I do have a respect for them all.   It's a hard life.    But a good number of those I met wouldn't stay in a little house if you gave it to them.

That's interesting about the neurosurgeon.   I heard of a doctor who goes around treating the homeless, but of course, that doctor didn't live on the streets.

One time while I was waiting at the market for their shuttle van to take me home, I saw a woman driving something like an SUV.   She kept driving around in a circle around the market parking lot.   She would drive up to people and ask for money.   One young woman gave her some dollar bills.   The funny thing was, she was driving continually around that lot for the entire 30 minutes or more that I was waiting there.

After I got in the van, I mentioned it to the shuttle van driver.   He told me that the lady is there all of the time.   Also, he said she has another car, too, she uses.   It just struck me as really odd, her using all of that gas to drive around the parking lot panhandling.   Also, having two cars to do it.  Haven't seen her since though.

If Jesus didnt care about "losers" as you put it, i would probably still be homeless.

for some people being homeless is a way God uses to get someones attention. He did with me.  and something similar to Nebuchadnezzar.  He lost his mind for a season.  hair and nails grew out and was eating the grass like a wild beast.

not taking care of the poor is something God spoke on concerning Sodom and Gomorrah.

God still does care about poor people and He has a special place in His heart just for them.

where does the Word mention the poor vis a vis Sodom and Gomorrah?

I've read about S and G several times (those psgs) never heard mention of poverty, just depravity

well, i have known some who do not like being homeless. But they dislike other options even more. The guy i knew who who was very bright.. well, he liked being independent and also liked saving money. He was basically an unskilled worker so didn't make much. I have no idea what he was saving money for but maybe for a little plot of land of his own? I mean, he liked being out in nature so I tend to think that's what he wanted for his future. I lost track of him years ago.. no idea how things turned out for him.. but no one wants to live in a car indefinitely.. Again, it is just because they dislike certain alternatives even more..

It annoys me when they almost insist you give them money rather than food or whatever. I tell them "I won't help you pay for cigarettes or booze" but will buy them food. The thing is, food is pretty plentiful, there are places that provide free meals and etc.. But I don't give money to someone if i know that person smokes.. If they can afford that expensive habit.. um.. they may be doing better than I am

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
