Hi all, if this is better in the controversial topics, feel free to move it there. There is a big divide occurring in the SBC over  women in the pulpit, but it is more than just that. I will not name names here, but you can look it up if you like, One of the woman is closely associated with President Trump. My Question is what are your thoughts on women in the Pulpit, and what Scripture says about this? I am starting this because I feel this is a political attack that is being orchestrated for political purposes to divide the vote. Do You see this or not?

The point of this post is a preemptive strike against such a move, that when these things come to the forefront they will not surprise you, and you will know how to respond to those who have questions.

i think this should not be a political correct issue, or move on with the time issue, but a biblical issue.

what does the Bible say?

1 Timothy 2:11-12 A woman should learn in quietness and full submission. I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; she must be silent

Look, I don’t seek to get into an argument here. That’s not the point I’m trying to make. The point is this: I never hear that anyone ever considers that in the beginning, man and woman were created equally and put into an equal partnership. Adam was never put over Eve before the fall. You will not find that explicit in scripture. And the Hebrew translation for the text of her creation and their assignment to the garden was not a patriarchal setup at all. It was a partnership opposite but equal. Just beautiful. The why she was taken from his side. Not chosen from among the animals in his care. And Jesus’ deaths and resurrection restored that, and Paul’s instructions, if you read them carefully in the Greek in their proper context, actually holds that mutual submission and partnership, equal but opposite roles up.

You raise a great point here about the created order and the fallen order and the redemptive order roles of woman. Wayne222 also raises a great point in the following...

Paul said eve was deceived

As lastchild and Wayne222 raise worthy yet contrary points, here in lies the discrepancy. Woman are equal yet different as per the created Order, and the redemptive order. is there something in this difference that led Eve to be more vulnerable to deception? This is a question we all have to answer. Could this be the impetus for the exclusion of woman in the pastoral role, but not the evangelical role? An Evangelist brings sheep into the fold, a pastor shepherds the sheep. Sometimes wolves in sheep's clothing try to sneak in to the fold, and the shepherd has to rise up against the wolves. Is a male more capable of this than a woman? Other times sheep come in that are not of the LORD, and they must eventually be removed. Is a male more capable of this role?

What I am asking here are hard questions to answer in our society where woman are told to be like men. Is that the ideal structure of a familial relationship? Is the church set up like a family?  We can make this a unifying issue, and not a dividing issue if we are honest with our strengths and our weaknesses as genders, and form that "Mutual submission and partnership", allowing for "equal and opposite roles."

I Do agree with Lastchild that the KJV is written and translated from a patriarchal and monarchial perspective and the translation reflects that as opposed to modern translations which are from a more democratic and gender neutral perspective. I think we need to see both views as valuable, for one day soon we will be living under the rule of the King of kings and He is a man, and we all will submit to His rule then.... Amen!

Just some final thoughts. We had several women that came to minister to the residents here. The majority are about 95% female to 5% male, and of them the same ratio are Hispanic.

I could hear them from the room I'm in, as it's only two doors away from the dining area. That's where all the activities are when meals aren't being served. Bingo, church, and musical entertainment, etc.

A message was being preached and then interpreted into Spanish. Thought I'd get up and go down to see what was going on spiritually speaking. Everything seemed to be fine and I hung out in the back.

These young ladies were all pretty young. Probably in their twenties to early thirties. And at the end of their little service they asked if there were any prayer requests. No one raised a hand - here's why.

A good deal of the residents have difficulties with communicating in general. Most have some sort of dementia or another, and it's a pretty sad situation. So responding is very hard for them.

And so these sweet gals went out to the ladies present, there weren't any men attending today for some reason. They prayed over and with a number of them. I decided to raise my hand in a request.

One of them spotted me, and came up to aski my name and what I wanted prayer for. I told her about it, and she laid a hand on my shoulder to ask God's blessing over my life and future. Then I got a hug.

My point is this. Women were ministering today. Get it, guys? Women. Why? Probably because some men were too busy watching the Saturday football game on TV. That's all I have to say, and I think it's sufficient.

True brother but I dont think it's because football. Men are overwork. A lot have two jobs and then are there for there families and have to tend to problems in the house.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
