Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods?

What Law of the Jews was Jesus quoting from?

21 In the law it is written, With men of other tongues and other lips will I speak unto this people; and yet for all that will they not hear me, saith the Lord.

What Law of the Jews was Paul quoting from?

BibleGuy,

We have talked about this at length.  The priesthood is the ONLY THING specifically "changed" under the New Covenant.  The priesthood was "changed" - FROM the Levite/Aaronic TO the Melchizedek priesthood order of "the firstborn".

This is a "change" BACK to the original order (The Son of God being THE "Firstborn").

Just as the New Covenant replaces the First Covenant, the Melchizedek priesthood replaces the Aaronic priesthood.

You keep preaching that the entire First Covenant - with every command and symbolic prophetic ceremony unchanged, passes straight into the the age post Cross.

I do not accept that.

Why would God command that we do something, that we CANNOT do - travel up to Jerusalem, to offer animal sacrifices?   And that for almost 2000 years.

The blood of lambs and goats and bulls, IS NOT essential to our salvation.   If it were, the LORD would have restored that Temple on the Mount.

Yes, we've been over it.....

But ALL Torah will be obeyed (Dt.30:1-8) in the future, or else Moses is a false prophet.

Simple enough.

Believe Moses, or your anti-Moses theology.

You can't have both.

"I do not accept that."

I accept Jesus' words.  ALL TORAH (Mt.5:19) applies to ALL disciples of ALL nations (Mt.28:19-20).

I've warned you!

"Why would God command that we do something, that we CANNOT do - travel up to Jerusalem, to offer animal sacrifices?   And that for almost 2000 years. "

OBVIOUSLY!  We are still being punished for our DISOBEDIENCE.

That's WHY we were cast out of the land.

We don't return to God until the LATTER DAYS (Dt. 4:30).....and the resistance widely expressed (even in this forum) confirms the reason we are still banished from our homeland.

"The blood of lambs and goats and bulls, IS NOT essential to our salvation.  "

It is for David (Ps.51:12,19).  Paul applies the Psalms to you (Eph.5:19;Col.3:16).

So, when we return to inherit our land, we WILL again obey 100% of all Torah (Dt.30:1-8)....SACRIFICES INCLUDED! (Mal.3:4;Eze.40-47;Jer.33;Zec.6;Zec.14;Is.66).

"If it were, the LORD would have restored that Temple on the Mount."

Don't worry!  Jesus WILL restore the sacrifices "as in the days of old, as in former years" (Mal.3:4) in the temple (Eze.40-47) He will rebuild (Zec.6) to fulfill the Davidic Covenant (Jer.33), Sabbath (Is.66), Sukkot for ALL NATIONS (Zec.14) with punishment against those who refuse, and with 100% obedience to ALL Torah (thus including SACRIFICES! Dt. 30:1-8) at that time.

We are STILL in diaspora (Jas.1:1).

We have NOT yet inherited the land promised to us (Gal.3:29;Mt.5:5).

It's yet FUTURE (Dt.30:1-8) for the LATTER DAYS (Dt. 4:30).

So, until then, we do what we can....

blessings...

Jerusalem Council instruction to new Gentile converts:

Acts 15:20 "but that we write to them that they abstain from things contaminated by idols (second commandment) and from fornication  and from what is strangled (Lev. 19:26)  and from blood (that's God's command to Noah  Gen.9:4).   (NAS)

How do we define "fornication"?   The word means "unlawful sex".    According to what law?   Answer:  The law of Moses.

The Law of Moses is still the reference point.

In our present civil culture, under present civil law, almost any sexual behavior is "lawful".   But we who believe in God, do not look to our civil laws to know what sexual behavior is "lawful" in the sight of God.

Only "the priesthood" has been "changed".

"Only "the priesthood" has been "changed".  "

Then Moses lied (Dt.30:1-8).

I'll stick with the Bible.

Even the SAME TORAH which passes into the NEW Covenant (Jer.31:33;Heb.8:10;10:16).

blessings...

The Levite/Aaronic priesthood was changed under the New Covenant, to the Melchizedek priesthood.   But the Melchizedek priesthood could not minister at the Temple existing in Jerusalem.  The Levites still maintained control.   The LORD would need to destroy that Temple along with it's priesthood.  This He did.

"The Levite/Aaronic priesthood was changed under the New Covenant, to the Melchizedek priesthood.  "

Then Moses lied (Dt.30:1-8).

I'll stick with the Bible.

AND, the LEVITICAL and MELCHIZEDEK priesthoods function SIMULTANEOUSLY!

After all, Jesus functioned in his Melchizedek capacity, yet the Levitical Priesthood CONTINUES into the NEW COVENANT ERA (Mt.5:24 + Mt. 28:19-20;(Mk.11:17 citing Is.56:7) + Mt.28:19-20;Heb.8:10 + Jer.31:33;Col.2:17;Heb.10:1;Ac.21 + 1Cor.11:1;Ac.6:7).

So again, your change is UNBIBLICAL.

Let's get back to the Bible.

Thanks.

"The LORD would need to destroy that Temple along with it's priesthood. "

Wrong. The LORD comes to RESTORE that very Priesthood (Mal.3:4) to fulfill Dt. 30:1-8;Eze.40-47;Jer.33;Is.66;Zec.6;Zec.14;Is.66;Jer.31:33;Heb.8:10;10:16;Eze.36:27.

THIS HE WILL.

blessings.

Two Laws of the O.T. or 1 Law per testament?

TWO LAWS:  OBEDIENCE or DISOBEDIENCE.  They are BOTH IN Dt. 30:15-19.

Paul APPLIES Dt. 30 to you (Rom.10:8) thus UPHOLDING BOTH LAWS.

But!

The law of sinful disobedience and death (Dt.30:15-19) does NOT apply to us in Christ (Rom.8:2).

Why?

Because we are FORGIVEN of sins (Mt.1:21) and we OBEY in faith (Rom.10:8 citing Dt. 30:14)!

Thus, the law of OBEDIENCE (Dt.30:15-19;1Jn.5:3;Mt.5:19;2Ti.3:16;1Cor.7:19) and LIFE (Mt. 4:4;Dt.8:3;30:15-19;32:47;Jn.6:63 + Mt.5:19;Jn.14:6 + Mt.23:2-3,23) is in force for us.

NOT the law of disobedience and death.

But they are BOTH Torah.

That's why you must CHOOSE!

CHOOSE LIFE! (Dt.30:15-19)

So OBEY!

blessings...

But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.

Yikes!

"The Law" is multiple Laws?

"The Law" is partial Law, not all?

Interesting....who decides which one to adhere to, the U.S. congress?

YOU CHOOSE!         OBEY AND LIVE,    or      DISOBEY AND DIE

Two categories of law within the Torah.

BOTH categories pass into the NEW Covenant (Jer.31:33).

SO CHOOSE LIFE (Dt.30:15-19).

So OBEY!

OR....

Choose disobedience and death (Dt.30:15-19;Mt.5:20;7:21-23;13:41-42).

Choice is yours.

Torah-OBEDIENCE is sufficient for eternal life (Lk.10:25-28).

That's a good reason to OBEY!

blessings...

LOL...Saints ordered to smite the heathen, now?

Question...would you burn a homosexual at the stake or stone an adulterer as prescribed by the O.T. Law, if civil laws of the land allowed you to?

"LOL...Saints ordered to smite the heathen, now?"

Punishing sin is not a laughing matter....

It's a terrible evil consequence of terrible evil actions....

"Question...would you burn a homosexual at the stake or stone an adulterer as prescribed by the O.T. Law, if civil laws of the land allowed you to?"

If our countries upheld the Torah death penalties....then sin would be PROFOUNDLY reduced, by virtue of the DETERRENT of the law itself, and by virtue of the execution of people who committed death-penalty-warranting crimes.

That's a good thing.

Why would you not want that?

And why do you keep saying "burn a homosexual" or "burn an adulterer"....

Lev. 20:10,13 does not require execution by burning.

I've heard the claim that the Torah death penalties were, in fact, rarely implemented back in the full-blown Torah-days of Israel.....again confirming that the law was effective in reducing sin.

And again, that's a GOOD thing.

Why would you not want that?

No, I would have mercy on them in the hope they would repent and come into redeeming fellowship with Christ and His body of believers.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
