Russia Proposes To Secure Iraqi Airspace With S-400 Air Defense

Quote

"Iraq is a partner of Russia in the field of military-technical cooperation, and the Russian Federation can supply the necessary funds to ensure the sovereignty of the country and reliable protection of airspace, including the supply of S-400 missiles and other components of the air defense system, such as Buk-M3, Tor -M2 "and so on," said Igor Korotchenko, Russian Defense Ministry's Public Council member.

For the last several months, Iraq has considered purchasing Russian air defense and missile systems, including the S-400, however, it has been met with fierce pressure from the US.

But with a political crisis between the US and Iraq underway, thanks partly to the US assassination of Iran's Maj. Gen. Qassem Soleimani, Russia could profit as Iraq attempts to decouple from the US.

Putin made an impromptu state visit to Syria today as well.

I have just been listening to Bill Salus for the first time.

I find him to be interesting, not just in what he is saying--but he seems to me to be honest and credible.

An impression--but I wouldn't go beyond that. An impression.

i am pretty sure I'd heard  his name in passing before, but only watched him speak for the first time a couple of days ago.  I found myself similarly intrigued.  I'll be searching out more of him very soon.

Anyone who  is interested in digging a lot deeper might consider reading:

1.  "Web of Debt" by Ellen Brown (easiest read, good overview)

2.  "The Creature From Jekyll Island:  A Second Look at  the Federal Reserve" by G. Edward Griffin (a bit deeper wading, much more detailed info)

3.  "The Lost Science of Money" by Stephen Zarlenga  (dense reading, textbook size, but man what an education..)

There’s also a book called “Currency  Wars” that is highly recommended. I just donated it a few days ago. Never got around to reading it

I haven't read that book, but I've followed Jim Rickards for years.  I am familiar enough with  his thinking I probably know what's in it already.  Knowing the quality of his work I'm quite willing to bed high recommendations are justified.  If I had the book I'd read it :)

Not sure if anyone is watching the Nightly News, but they are reporting that Iran  just fired  ballistic missles at a U.S. base in Iraq.

i'm listening to early reports myself.  Ein al-Assad airbase in western Iraq has allegedly been hit by  "tens" of rockets.  I  haven't heard they were ballistic missiles, and for now I am more inclined to believe they'll turn out  to be Katyusha type rockets fired by Iraqi PMF/PMU units.  If it does turn out they were ballistic missiles fired from Iran,....well...i hope that's wrong.

well...as this develops it's  looking more and more like the rockets did come from Iran, and now more targets than just Ein al-Assad have been hit.

the Defense Department has issued a statement saying they know know the missiles were launched from Iran....

Edit to add:  IRGC is taking credit too...i guess that pretty  well nails it.
