God did not make the mistake.  You did in relying on a translation and not the original Hebrew and drawing a conclusion on your understanding of an English word.

God did not say the English word, kill.  Translators did that.  God said the Hebrew word, רָצַח , or ratsach [rä·tsakh'].

Wilhelm Gesenius, in his Hebrew and Chaldee Lexicon,  - which by the way is what Strong's relies on - says that "ratsach" means "to break, to dash into pieces, to kill, to act the homicide".

Strong's uses the word, ratsach in the following ways:

•  to murder
•  to slay
•  to kill

God did not make a mistake in the Hebrew word he chose.  Mankind, when making translations, do not use Hebrew.  They use English, Spanish, Chinese, and countless more.

Taking that into account, "thou shall not kill" does not mean pacifism.  It means do not take the life of another human being of your OWN accord senselessly and with no call for it - homicide.  If it is self-defense or if God calls a people into a war - that's different.

Or if a death penalty is called for - that's different, too.

"Thou shall not kill" is killing out of selfish ambition, gain, pride, jealousy, anger, and coveting.  It is a selfish thing and evil.

Why do you want to see someone punished so badly? This is exactly what Satan does he goes to God and reminds them of every wrong doing they've done. He dispenses grace to everyone. If he punishes obama He'd have to punish you too and everyone.
