Hezekaiah,

You said,

Good-bye. I'm through arguing and I'm through fighting. Listen to the song "Who Will be Jesus". See if the notions ring any bells. You've obviously never been through a dark night of the soul. If you do, I pray you find some loving Christians who are more interested in you and your soul, not how friendly you are.

By the way, I believe Christians are required to help. "As you argued with the least of these..."

You're response is so typical. Christians try to argue you into submission, not show love. The darkside just says welcome.

Do you think you are the only one who has been through a dark night of the soul, as you put it.? You were conned by a business man and now you have a great chip on your shoulder. A lot of us have been where you are at and are grateful for the support and the concern of our brothers and sisters on this board.

If you want to turn to porno web sites to solve your problem, that's your affair, but don't scorn genuine christians for offering advice. Did it ever occur to you that it might be your selfpitying attitude that turned people away from you. Humble yourself and get down on your knees and pray and pray and stop biting the hands of those trying to help.

We've all been down in that valley, mate.

Prostitution, escort services, and other sexual sins are a growing problem for Christian men.  I found a link to a website where men debate whether or not you can be a Christian and see prostitutes, or be a prostitute.  Many prostitutes justify what they do by saying, Mary Magdalene was a prostitute.

These discussions come from The Erotic Review Board.  The primary purpose of the board is to discuss escorts.  It is an interesting place to find a discussion on Christ.

By the way, the use of escorts is referred to as "the hobby".

This is a problem the church is ignoring.

What say you?

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

I started not to respond to this thread, but find it hard not to. I am one of those who has pretty much overcome a severe addiction to porn from his college days. I can tell you from experience that those of us who have overcome this problem do not appreciate people posting websites like this in their face. I personally don't understand how someone who has accepted Jesus as the Lord of his life could expose others to the very thing that he is having trouble with.

There are several threads that have dealt with this issue and if you are really seeking help I suggest you use the search tool and look through them for you will find help.

As for the church not helping I would disagree. While I am not attending any church at the present time I have attended many different ones in the past. I don't know of any church organization that did not have someone that you could turn to for help in this area. It may not be discussed in the open or preached openly, but largely so as not to expose people to the temptations of the problem as a whole.

So from experience of looking for "The" New Testament Church", resulting in being in and part of at least 20 churches in at least 10 denominations and all of them having people who could help in this situation, I would respectfully disagree that the church is not dealing with the problem.

Add to this the "Family Life" marriage seminairs dealing directly with this problem and I'd say that Christianity as a whole deals with it. At least it is that way here in the Oklahoma area of the country.

I'll leave my thoughts at this, for I am really disturbed as to how you are handling this topic as a whole. If you are yourself seeking help for this PM me and we can discuss it all you want. But I won't post that kind of thing on the open forum for those who struggle to have to deal with, not to speak of the lovely young people here that simply don't need exposed to the trash in the first place.

I have modified my post to remove the links.  I still haven't heard what the church is doing to help men with this problem.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Bless you brother. :) There are some things that are best discussed in private or in a controlled setting with like others who struggle with the same sin. An Internet discussion board is not necessarily that place because of the diversity of folks that are present for the discussion from young children to senior saints.

I am sorry that your new pastor handled your situation so poorly. Don't judge him for it though, but rather pray for him that the Lord will help him grow in insight and wisdom.

So you ask what the church should do? First you need to understand the church can do very little because it is Jesus Christ in you that will transform you. A fella named Mike Cleveland wrote, "the Biblical solution to my sin problem: repentance and forgiveness, and the newness of life that comes through the gospel."

Yes, you can need the strength of a good friend and prayerfully, God will provide you a good Christian counselor to point you in the right direction BUT as you know, the ONLY direction is upwards placing your focus on Jesus Christ.

So my suggestions (and not in any particular order):

Visit the following web-site Setting Captives Free. I can not personally attest to its value but the Statement of Faith seems rock solid and it is endorsed by gospelcom.net.

PRAY!!! Put on the full Armor of God and PRAY!!! [Ephesians 6:10-18] Allow God to speak to you through HIS Word. The ONLY way you will hear HIS voice is if you listen and that comes through prayer and reading HIS Word.

Lastly, seek a Godly sorrow and not a worldly sorrow. [2 Cor 7:10] The world's way is to impose GUILT but God's way is to lead you to repentance and empower you to live a life that reflects your inheritance.

May the Lord Bless you richly,

Wayne

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
