It is a pig. I will not use it if at all possible. I have to get a couple apps from the playstore, but most often you can get the APK from another source for your Android device. Big-G is an insatiable pig and if possible do not use gmail as there are many alternatives that do not sift your data for their huge cloud of info storage. They are now working 'openly' for the government on its 'new' surveillance and ID locational programs for 'our security'. Duuhhh!!!

The church that sponsors the app released a letter stating that they were soon going to no longer be following social distancing regulations. I presume that's why Google removed them, their recommendation is potentially harmful in regards to the pandemic and could make things worse. This violated Google's COVID-19 guidelines, so they removed it from Google Play.

I don't know what this is about since I can't read the link. But I have Google app thingy on my phone and I have found all kinds of Christian books, Bible apps, devotionals ect ect.  So I don't understand what the issue is here.

That's almost as bad as asking someone to use Baidu over Google. Yandex is a Russian company.

If you don't want to use Google I'd suggest DuckDuckGo (emphasis on privacy), Ecosia (more private than Google, less than DuckDuckGo, plants trees for every fifteen or so searches), or Bing (you don't know how to change the default search engine anyways). I primarily use Ecosia.

Well I read most of the article and I do not see this as an attack on Christians or the church. They violated a rule that being that    they(Google)  are currently only approving apps that reference COVID-19 or related terms in their store listing if the app is published, commissioned, or authorized by an official government entity or public health organization, and the app does not contain any monetization mechanisms such as ads, in-app products, or in-app donations.  It is stated right here in the rules dated April 6 https://android-developers.googleblog.com/2020/04/google-play-updates-and-information.html

They violated the rule so their app got removed.  There is not attack here. No anti-Christian agenda at work here.   As far as them screaming censorship.  You want to put stuff on Google you have to follow Google rules. The same can be said for Worthy. 

So anywho, that is my take on all of this.

Exactly. The article is trying to stir up controversy that Google is censoring Christians, but this church just broke the rules Google set for apps on their store and got blocked.

You use their service, you play by their rules. They broke the rules, they got kicked out. This isn't anti-Christian, this is anti-"people who break Google Play's Terms of Service", which Google has every right to act against.
