What’s your opinion on acupuncture, massage, bodywork, and similar?

Thanks to all who have answered this topic. When you do have health issues and the so called scientific general medicine doesn’t help or the treatment that they offer causes a lot more other problems, you tend to look into so called natural/ holistic/herbal, etc medicine.

Any more input by anyone would be appreciated.

I am a ex New Ager, and used to follow Doreen Virtue, who was a New Age guru and Hay House's best selling author. She did it all, including mediumship, divination, contacting 'angels', reiki master, yogi etc. She found Christ in 2017 and is now an ultra Reformed Born Again Christian, with a ministry in warning people about the deception of the New Age, as well as warning Christians about New Age practises creeping into churches. She has a great youtube ministry where she interviews ex yogis, reiki masters, etc etc and exposes the demonic nature of these eastern practises. 

Anything that works on the premise of 'energy' (the spiritual force type) is demonic. Yes it works. I wouldnt go near it with a barge pole.

Christians who havent been involved on the New Age often seem more tolerant of dabbling in it than New Agers who came to Christ.

Steven Bancarz (another famous ex New Ager who came to Christ). He has a YouTube channel and his book, 'The Second Coming of the New Age' (co authored with Josh Peck) is also excellent.

I have major back injury that I've been dealing with for almost 20 years now, and I say if it brings you some relief go for it. I may suggest acupressure first. Message always helps because often times your muscles work overtime to deal with an injury.

Like finding a good doctor, the same applies in finding a reputable sports massage therapist or chiropractor.

When doctors can do nothing but prescribe medication, many times there are other and perhaps better solutions available.

Have found tremendous help from sports massage therapy as well as chiropractic adjustments.

Like with most of us here, dealing with pain can be frustrating, as sometimes things work and other times not so much.

I haven't tried the things you mentioned, but I have friends who have with limited and varying results.

In the past I usually used Ibuprofen, hot showers or a heating pad with varying degrees of relief.

I've even used  TV products with red/blue flashing lights which worked pretty good with varying results also until I wore it out - LOL

I have sporatic bouts with sciatica, and bought an elastic brace for my leg that works like acupuncture, having a bulging piece in it that presses on where the nerve is and at times gives much relief, but other times nothing.

 

Like most of us, I am always keeping my eye out for something that may offer more pain relief that is more consistant and reliable.

 

God is so amazing and answers prayers in ways that are totally unexpected.

I was on my computer and doing something, while dealing with excruciating sciatica pain for several weeks and praying for God to help me as I did my best to go on with each day and live with the pain.

You all with pain issues know what I mean.

While on my computer a "POP UP" was suddenly there advertising a new technology for PAIN RELIEF called a PAIN RELIEF PATCH..

It uses "NANO TECHNOLOGY" that uses "NANOCAPACITORS - YEAH - very sci-fy, futuristic, and other worldly sounding Like just another gimmick!! Totally non-invasive and no batteries or cords.

You get where I'm going here.

It was a tad expensive, but I did my research, and was impressed. I dropped the money on one of them and whaen I got it went on line to their website as they suggested to learn how to right place it to use it for the pain.

I have a "ROTOR CUFF issue in my left shoulder that gives me fits of agonizing pain, so that's where I tried it first.

In less than a minute the PAIN WAS GONE!! And not for just a few minutes or an hour, but for several days.

I woke up this morning with the pain back, so I used it again for about a 1/2 hour. In a few seconds the paint was nearly gone and after a 1/2 hour again, the pain was gone completely and still is 10 and 1/2 hours later, and it was only on my shoulder 1/2 hour - that's all.

After the first time it worked I bought 3 more for the price of 2, a special they were having, knowing I will need them in the future.

I just said - THANK YOU GOD. I'm not saying this would work for everyone, but I am sitting here pain free when I could be suffering.

I don't mention the product name because I'm not a company representative or salesman for them.

So nice to know now that I finally have something dependable and reliable that sits on my nightstand just in case I wake up in pain in the middle of the night.
