Why would scripture mention it Joh 19v31 when it was not a LITERAL saturday ? That High Day was a thursday called a Feast Day and Sabbath falling on other days than saturday. There are 7 other such High Days or Feast Days in the year that CHRISTIANS take absolutely no notice of....yet claim to understand.....what hypocricy and mistreating of GOD's Truth. They have a lot to learn yet .

 John 19:31   The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the sabbath day, (for that sabbath day was an high day,) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.

To me, it doesn't matter what day Christ died, the fact is we know he was raised on the third day.  But we are going into the nitty gritty here;

Look at the evidence;

 

Matthew 28:1   In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre.

Mary found Jesus body gone on the 1st day of the week.  As the sun was just starting to come up. When the sun starts to come up, the sabbath has ended.

Exodus 20:11   For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
 

The sabbath day is the seventh day. Last time I checked that's a Saturday.  So the first day of the week is a Sunday, the next day. 

So whether it was a high day or not, and we know it was, it doesn't change the fact that Jesus rose on the first day of the week.  What is so hard to understand about that? and why should we change what the scriptures say on which day he rose?

Firstfruits is the day after the Sabbath.  Christ is our first fruits from the dead.  He arose on the first day of the week as our first fruits.    I know that you believe Christ arose on the Sabbath but Scriptures indicate otherwise. I was speaking of the Jewish calendar.  I am all for using the original proper names for these holy days and for celebrating all of them.  But the fact remains that Paul indicated He arose on Firstfruits and became our First fruits.  That would be the first day of the week.   However, we should respect each others beliefs about things like this and strive to keep the unity of the Spirit and the bond of peace.  

 Eph 4:2 with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love, Eph 4:3 endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

I would say that 'life or death ' is very much a Salvation issue....according to scripture.....the Word of God.

Not answering question. Day of worship is not a salvation issue. Are you seventh day Adventist or similar?

Col 2:16  So let no one judge you in food or in drink, or regarding a festival or a new moon or sabbaths,

Col 2:17  which are a shadow of things to come, but the substance is of Christ.
