That was the last thing he said before he died was that his mom was never there for him. I would tell people she ran off and left me and they would say I must have chased her off. Then I would say that she abandoned her son and they would say that is not right. His friends mom got him started on drugs. He was in his senior year of electronic engineering. She died within a year of doing that.  His girlfriend graduated but he decided he wanted to drop out of school and party. My dad was the one that worked with him to get him to go that far toward getting an education.

Is anyone else rather chilled at the ads promoting these?

Yes, I've seen them. I don't feel they are any more eerie than other ads for final arrangements or services.

Where nobody attends a person's funeral and the priority is cheapness?

It varies on the individual, sister. Some persons don't want or care for a formalized funeral, memorial, or what has been termed as, "Celebration of Life". Some I've attended are just as meaningful as a regular funeral. I've never personally cared for an open casket service. That I find very undesirable. Some of these I've even dreaded. The deceased look dead to me. If you knew them in life they aren't the best last memory of seeing them. Even when going to a "viewing" and it will be a closed coffin service, it's still creepy to me.

How dreadful that a person's life not be given respect. It chills me.

I've already given my personal opinion of this. No, I don't have a problem with anyone's final plans. If they get their wishes that's all that matters. At least it does to me.

These cremations are like disposal of animals at the vet.

Even these arrangements can be very endearing. Pets mean so much to their owners. In many instances, just like my experience having lovely furries, were like your very own children. We have a pet cemeteries here on the outskirts of town and I've heard they are just as nice as ones for people. Services are held for those desiring them and friends gather to pay their respects. Or, a special urn can be purchased and kept in a place of honor. I think that's wonderful, quite honestly.

Just so empty.

It's as empty as one makes it.

Matthew 10:28 - And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

John 5:24 -  Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 13But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. 14For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. 15For this we say unto you by the word of the LORD, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the LORD shall not prevent them which are asleep. 16For the LORD himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the LORD in the air: and so shall we ever be with the LORD. 18Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

Funerals are for family and friends, not the deceased. It is important to give them a time to grieve for those they love. Having said that, whether we are cremated, buried make sure your family/friends can have a time to grieve/celebrate/remember the deceased. Closure is a good thing.

My opinion of course . . . I suppose it would depend on specific needs.

I'm reminded of Emmylou Harris (I think) song "All My Tears".

When I die don't cry for me
In my father's arms I'll be
The wounds this world left on my soul
Will all be healed and I'll be whole

Sun and moon will be replaced
With the light of jesus face
And I will not be ashamed
For my saviour knows my name

It don't matter, where you bury me
I'll be home and I'll be free
It don't matter, where I lay
All my tears be washed away

Gold and silver blind the eye
Temporary riches light
Come and eat from Heavens store
Come and drink, and thirst no more

So weep not for me my friend
When my time below does end
For my life belongs to Him
Who will raise the dead again

It don't matter, where you bury me
I'll be home and I'll be free
It don't matter, where I lay
All my tears be washed away

I would rather be absent from this body with its weakness, infirmity, and pain because that means I am with the Lord in fullness. I confess that I won't miss it but until the time of my deliverance arrives I will endure, confident that the will of our Lord and Savior is alive in me because Christ gave His life so we might live.

Don't be troubled nor afraid on account of our toil in this world where we are foreigners and sojourners, present for only a little while. This body returns to the dust from whence it came but the Lord endures forever... our lives are hidden in Him. :)

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
