Whosoever transgresses and abides not in the teachings of Christ, has not God.  2 John 1:9

The teachings of Christ are the specifics of what God means to love:

If you know someone has something against you try to make it right.

When hit, don't hit back, don't seek revenge.

Pray and fast in secret, not for show.

   Give.

Love even your enemies and them that hate you. ...

   Matthew 5 through 7 and Luke 6:27-49.

And now I beseech thee..
not as though I wrote a new commandment unto thee,
but that which we had from the beginning, that we love one another
.  2 John 1:5   [John 15:12 Matthew 7:12]

And this is love, that we walk after his [Christs] commandments.
This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it. 2 John 1:6  [Deut. 18:18-19]

John is speaking about the teachings of Christ.
The teachings of Christ are the literal specifics of God taught love, and are summarized by the one word, love.

John is saying that we absolutely must practice the teachings of Christ.

Whosoever transgresses and abides not in the teachings of Christ, has not God,
whoever abides in the teachings of Christ has both the Father and the Son.
  2 John 1:9

If anyone comes to you preaching and does not bring this doctrine, do not give him a greeting.  2 John 1:10

From the whole context of the book of 2 John,
and that we can see that the teachings of Christ are the specifics of what God means to love,

it becomes clear that John is pointing out two main traits of false teachers,
some deny the deity of Christ, and others neglect or deny His teachings, they do not teach the love that Christ taught.

A sincere focus on Christ is a focus on His actual teachings,
and a gathering together to help each other actually live out His teachings.

Yes sir, I'd sure say so too. In fact this is why I say we have to obey God, remembering that Jesus was/is God as a man. As far as I can see this isn't even open to debate, Jesus and the Bible made this issue quite clear. The true people of God are those of us who seek to put His principles into action in our lives. And it's not always easy, but it always necessary.

Just last week, my health care aide stole from me while I was out. The fleshy side of me would have liked to report it to the police ans make her lose job and possibly get into serious trouble. But that wouldn't have been very Christ-like and I seek to live as godly as I can. I'm just telling you all don't think it's easy, not even for me. We all have to work at doing this things. We must remember that we want to someday stand before the Lord and have Him say to us "well done my good and faithful servant".

I think you did the right thing. But did you talk to her about it ? Told her you forgive her ? And told her that christ forgives her and calls her to repent ? I think it would help. I think you did well.

default_thumbsup.gif.75de14e4d5470ee041cc481666e62edc.gif    Thanks, DS         Below is the next verse.

"If anyone comes to you and does not bring this doctrine, do not receive him into your house nor greet him"
2 John 1:10

It caused me to consider the TV, as I was allowing false teaching, Hollywood, sitcoms, talk shows etc, come into our house.
Just hear it on the screen. But hear it.
My entertainment pleasure was superseding my spiritual sense.
Conviction ensued........

I spoke to her about it, and as I expected she denied any knowledge of it. But since whoever did it had a key to get in that means it was either her or her husband, and I already know she takes pain pills daily. (what I didn't know was how badly she's addicted) As for what I said, have you ever read in Matthew where Jesus said: "Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to pigs. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces." I first read that 40 yrs ago but I'm only now learning what it can mean. This woman knows I'm of God, I've even told her I know the Bible very well. She was raised as a Baptist but from what I've seen and heard she no longer has any interest in God. I never thought I'd be in a situation where I had to put the above verse into effect but I now am. I live in a building full of ungodly people. If I was to tell here what Wayne said she would interpret that as she can abuse me even more. I feel like I was already torn up a bit.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
