Credit cards --- yep. The end was near when those made their debut. Mark of the Beast and all of that.

I remember when the mark of the Beast was the Universal Product Code. Those scanners at the checkout line were Beast system technology!

No, wait... it was vaccines. Yeah, those were the mark of the Beast, a sure sign the end draws nigh.

88 reasons for 1988?

People have believed the end was nigh for longer than any of us have been alive. It's interesting to note that all of this technology is conspicuously absent from the scriptures. I'm in agreement with @teddyv... the mark has been with us for a very long time.

It appears this topic is better suited for the eschatology forum.

Well, as a pretribulation believer; if I'm seeing all the prophetic signs we are to watch for as the tribulation draws nigh. And they are shaping up faster than anyone can keep up with. Then how much closer is our redemption?

I don't know but God does. :)

I have never had a smart phone so I would not know about that. This is new for me.

Credit cards first had embedded chips probably 10 years ago in the UK. The US has followed suit probably within the last 5 years due to the need to help prevent identity theft. I have an embedded chip entry card for my job. We once had magnetic stripe cards and they replaced them. Now I can simply hold my wallet up to the reader ( or if creative I can put my butt up against the reader) and unlock the door. You really don't need a card as you can get little dongles or use your smart phone to buy things. All this does is tie your bank account to the device.

RFID chips are those little stickers they hide in products. They are what sets the alarm off if you go through without paying, or accidentally bring something through.

RFID chips are going to better encryption now since it was discovered you could bring a little receiver along in a briefcase and "read" the chip of a passer by. You usually still need a 4 digit code which is why they started putting covers over the debit keys. If you see a guy with binoculars looking at the gas pumps beware. Or someone trying to peek over your shoulder at the store checkout. HIDE YOUR CODE.

I deposited a check the other day with my smart phone using an app. Pretty cool actually. Saved me a trip to the bank and some time.

I tend to use this tech. I'll probably continue unless some Draconian rules are applied to it or they take it away because I'm a political prisoner ( God forbid but you never know what the future holds).

I didn't have the heart to react to your entire post with laughter so know that I am laughing heartily on account of the underlined. Ah, the stories I could tell from my time working security for a defense contractor...

Like the occasion when some employees of an Israeli company showed up for a meeting with the bigwigs. Being the first line of defense it fell upon me to review their credentials and vet them prior to admission to the sprawling facility. After the seventh iteration of the name "Door Prize" I knew something was amiss. Door Priz was the first... Drar Priz was the second... Dor Pirze the third... you get it by now, I am sure. "If you'll excuse me for a moment, gentlemen, while I acquire visitor badges for you all..." was my exit to contact the Program manager in charge of security.

After I informed him of the bogus names he laughed and said, "Oh yeah, it's those guys. Let 'em in and don't worry about it." Mmhm. :red-neck-laughing-smiley-emoticon:

Let's just say that some employees could be rather inventive about the way they were supposed to present their credentials and leave it at that... I have veered off topic far enough.

Interesting Marathoner. I work for a place that has their own security people. The main buildings have card readers. Only a very few areas are off limits to me. Mainly accounting and human resources. The rest I can access. I haven't tried all the buildings at night. I might have to make a call to get in then. I still carry keys for inner rooms. I believe the new cards have schedules which would make sense. Cameras are everywhere. The good ones that can see a pimple on your nose from a half mile away. Yet some funny things have happened. A mechanical room door that didn't lock allowed a homeless man to spend the night in a warm place for awhile. One retired guy was still coming around to hang out in a lobby. We monitor roof hatches because we've had people jump once or twice. I would have to report that I'm going on the roof so they know what the alarm is. Due to COVID that place is mostly a ghost town right now.

True .  Here are some newer ones in play now.  The smart phones now incorporate some of the functions below.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biometrics

Biometrics are body measurements and calculations related to human characteristics. Biometrics authentication (or realistic authentication) is used in computer science as a form of identification and access control. It is also used to identify individuals in groups that are under surveillance.

Biometric identifiers are the distinctive, measurable characteristics used to label and describe individuals. Biometric identifiers are often categorized as physiological versus behavioral characteristics. Physiological characteristics are related to the shape of the body. Examples include, but are not limited to fingerprint, palm veins, face recognition, DNA, palm print, hand geometry, iris recognition, retina and odour/scent. Behavioral characteristics are related to the pattern of behavior of a person, including but not limited to typing rhythm, gait, keystroke, signature, behavioral profiling, and voice. Some researchers have coined the term behaviometrics to describe the latter class of biometrics.[1]

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
