What is the difference between "Discerning of spirits" and the spiritual gift of "discernment"?

I believe you have the wrong idea as to what scripture states - there is no gift of 'discernment' the gift listed in 1Corinthians 12:10 is that of "discerning of spirits" 

10 to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another the ability to distinguish between spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues.

Discernment by itself is a human acquired skill usually obtained through life experience and learning.

discerning of spirits is the work of the Holy Spirit - the spirit of truth - within a disciple that can be utilised through prayer (and sometimes revelation) that doctrine(s) presented by other people are not true. It is the ability by the Spirit to test or to prove that teachings and doctrines are true. 

1Thess 5:19  Quench not the Spirit. 20  Despise not prophesyings. 21  Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. 22  Abstain from all appearance of evil. 

Acts 17:11  These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.

The gift of discernment is based on Holy Spirit intervention and recognition. We can discern without the Spirit but its like looking through a broken mirror, whereas with The Holy Spirit discernment its looking through a clear mirror which is brand new, and exposes everything. Holy Spirit discernment to an extent, sees the future, not just the present.
