I have no idea what you are referring to when speaking about Ravi Zacharias "other" topic.  Care to unpack that idea?

I will say that I was set back by your grouping Jim Jones with Ravi Zacharias.  Care to provide us with the similarities that would group them together?

I agree that lumping those together seems a bit of a category error.

Ravi Zacharias was found to have engaged in inappropriate behaviour with many other women. Here is a report (PDF) that was prepared by a legal firm on the matter.

See my post above yours for a clarification. Ravi's teaching seemed to be a bit more sound than Mr. Jones'.

Yes, I saw that as I was submitting mine.

Ravi's apologetics were very good. It is a shame that his legacy is going to be so tarnished by his wrongdoing.

That's not what I'm saying. I use my tag line to clarify. But yes, there are things in the bible that are absolutely not technically true. There are not 8 legged insects. The bible is a collection of books that are both human and spiritual in origin. They are not words handed down to some guy in a trance. They are words of men with a relationship with God, some told by God specifically to write down certain thngs. And in some cases they even contain the actual words of God, e.g. anything in red print in some bibles.

If it were otherwise, we'd only need one gospel.

If you are looking for a book that claims to be "handed down" from God to man, look no further than the Book of Mormon or the Quran. That is not what the bible claims to be at all.

To be clear, the bible has "incorrect" information when it comes to science. But it is not a science book. God did not impart 24th century scientific knowledge to any of the writers of its books. that is not the point. That is not its swim lane.

Organisms with 8 legs are members of the class Arachnida which includes spiders, ticks, mites, scorpions, and their relatives.

So the bible isnt necessarily wrong. I dont believe the apostles taught error either.

If you are looking for science in a book of poetry you will be disappointed. The 4 corners of the earth is just a poetic expression, not science and its not suppose to be. If i use the phrase four corners of the earth will you call it a lie or understand its just an expression??

It is the translations that are wrong. Insects have six legs. Arachnids have 8 legs. But my point is not that the bible is wrong. It is that it's not precise on some things. It gives enough to make the point, without exposing perfect scientific knowledge to ancient man.  Getting it scientifically wrong is fine. It communicates to those for whom it was written.

The Holy Spirit is the best teacher you can get.  Anyone who is saved is never alone.  The Spirit of God is always with him.  And the Spirit leads, guides, directs, and teaches, as long as we will yield and listen.  It's a good idea to ask for this guidance every time you open your Bible.  The Spirit of God is the ultimate authority on the Bible.  It is the Spirit of God that inspired men to write the revelations of God in the first place.

When that scripture was wrote, did science classify insects? No. What you are engaging in is semantics. The bible is not wrong,

What I'm doing is really warning against arguing semantics. We are actually on the same page here.

I agree that we should not use the Bible for something it isn't. Especially when dealing with the lost. There are times when engaging an unbeliever that doing that we have already lost the engagement. The Bible is a book that reveals Jesus Christ for the world and His elect.

You are safe, if you stay there and it is awesomely and richly and thoroughly efficacious in that.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
