How does one clean the inside of the cup?

Matthew 23:25 “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence. 26 Blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of the cup and dish, and then the outside also will be clean.

Psalm 119:9 How can a young man keep his way pure?
By keeping it according to Your word.
10 With all my heart I have sought You;
Do not let me wander from Your commandments.
11 I have treasured Your word in my heart,
So that I may not sin against You.
12 Blessed are You, Lord;
Teach me Your statutes.
13 With my lips I have told of
All the ordinances of Your mouth.
14 I have rejoiced in the way of Your testimonies,
[e]As much as in all riches.
15 I will meditate on Your precepts
And [f]regard Your ways.
16 I shall [g]delight in Your statutes;
I will not forget Your word.

I meant what I said, Whyme.

It's not personal. I don't trade posts with anyone who misquotes me, misrepresents my posts, argues fallaciously, and/or apologizes and does nothing about the wrongdoing afterwards, or those who simply won't collaborate when there exists plenty with which we can and should agree. I give everyone time and opportunity to consider what I post but some just won't. It's a Titus 3:9-11 situation. You're one of those guys. I assume it is a temporary condition because you're new to the forum, I've read confessions of a desire to learn humility and change, some moderation meted out and some of the adjustments being made.

No worries. You'll get used to my style.

Or maybe not.

Doesn't much matter one way or the other to me because I have said my piece, the posts aren't going anywhere, and the posts speak for themselves whether agreed with or not. I commend your responsiveness in your op on 1 Timothy 4. That was collaborative. That was godly. Do more of that. I hope those last words are taken as a sincere expression of my hope for your future well-being in the forum.

Here? Now? Natch. Had your chance and I've moved on. You may post all you like but I won't be responding to your posts further in this op. Next op do better and we'll see how that goes.

You meant what you said? But you are replying to me now. Instead of wasting words about my faults in reading your hard to understand positing style, you could just explain how choosing to think Godly thoughts is done with a fleshy mind. The scriptures say that the carnal mind cannot submit to Gods law and that those in the flesh think about things of the flesh, not Godly things of the Spirit.

 To address your question, Whyme,
when we think we have cleaned the inside,
and done what we believe might work,
others will know us then by our fruits.

Truth is a fruit of the spirit. Tell me how a fleshy mind thinks about Godly thoughts. Is that a true statement?

The shed blood of Christ and the washing of His word.

Hebrews 9:11-22
"But when Christ appeared as a high priest of the good things to come, He entered through the greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this creation;  and not through the blood of goats and calves, but through His own blood, He entered the holy place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption.  For if the blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a heifer sprinkling those who have been defiled sanctify for the cleansing of the flesh,  how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without blemish to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?  For this reason He is the mediator of a new covenant, so that, since a death has taken place for the redemption of the transgressions that were committed under the first covenant, those who have been called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance.  For where a covenant is, there must of necessity be the death of the one who made it.  For a covenant is valid only when men are dead, for it is never in force while the one who made it lives.  Therefore even the first covenant was not inaugurated without blood.  For when every commandment had been spoken by Moses to all the people according to the Law, he took the blood of the calves and the goats, with water and scarlet wool and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book itself and all the people,  saying, 'This is the blood of the new covenant which God commanded you.' And in the same way he sprinkled both the tabernacle and all the vessels of the ministry with the blood.  And according to the Law, one may almost say, all things are cleansed with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no forgiveness."

True, but are we not called to cleanse ourselves as well?

2 Corinthians 7

7 Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let’s cleanse ourselves from all defilement of flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

With what were the Corinthians to clean themselves? Certainly not works of flesh. How is holiness perfected. Surely not through fleshly efforts. NO matter how righteous such act may be they do nothing apart from the blood and Spirit.

Fleshy efforts only try to do fleshy things. Romans 8 says so.

...another cleansing scripture

James 4:8

Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded

2 Timothy 2:20 In a large house there are articles not only of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay; some are for special purposes and some for common use. 21 Those who cleanse themselves from the latter will be instruments for special purposes, made holy, useful to the Master and prepared to do any good work.

22 Flee the evil desires of youth and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

@Your closest friendnt

John 5:30, "I can of mine own self do nothing: "AS I HEAR", I judge: and my judgment is just; because "I SEEK NOT MY OWN WILL", but "THE WILL OF MY FATHER" which hath sent me."

As I get older, and after studying many decades, more and more I read scripture as being authored by God through the writers and through Jesus, as the verse above clearly states, and other verses do also.

Yes Jesus did say that in Matthew 7:13 and Luke 13:23-24, but the bible is Gods story to the entire human race, and God is Jesus in human form, as we all know, and so I tend to think and speak in broader terms now than I used to, and it's my way of giving people who read this the credit for already knowing God is Jesus.

I hope that answers your question my friend. GOD BLESS YOU .

My name is ARRABON

Soon we are going to run in some disagreement or as some say the storm has began to brew already, but that should not stop us for trying to clarify the issues at hand.

I am delighted to read your reply that indeed is Jesus who said those things and not someone else.

To that end the disciples and everyone who was present will agree that indeed it was Jesus talking.

They knew the tone and the accent and everything that sets apart the voice of one man from the other.

And many times Jesus Christ said "listen and take head to what you hear me say. Jesus was a Galilean, he dressed up and talked with the accent of a Galilean. That set him apart from the Pharisees of Jerusalem.

What I am concerned about is the follow:

You started your post with John 5:30, yes these are Jesus words and when we read what took place before Jesus said those words then we can understand the reasons why Jesus did say those words.

What happened just before that made Jesus say those words?

The statements in paragraph two are not Jesus Christ statements and as such they need to be examined inspite of the color of the authors intent that it seems it disprove the e examination of the statements in paragraph two.

The language in paragraph two is very strong , somehow it has the tone of an order with dire consequences to someone who may think to put the soundness of those statements in question.

In reading the context of Gospels we cannot say that the statements of paragraph two are of the same quality as the statements Jesus Christ made in John 5:30 or preceding John 5:30.

So why this authoritative strong statement as in Paragraph two.

Because these statements cannot cannot be supported by John 5:30.

Jesus did not made those statements to be used within the context of the statements in paragraph two.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
