Sometimes we need to embrace our anxieties and look into them and do something about them, deal with them, so when come to our memory or something takes place that stimulates our memories, memories we do not want to have , we are not bother or disturb as much , somehow we manage to still mantain our peace and keep anxiety at a distance.

In due time.

Jesus does not forbid technics that help us with our anxiety attacks.

Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on Thee, because he trusteth in Thee.

I memorised this from the KJV, but I've no objection to other sound translations of it.  The point is that we are saved (in all senses), by grace, through faith in the Lord.  He is our peace.

We need to look away from ourselves, to the Lord Jesus Christ, the Author and Finisher of our faith.

We are all learning aren’t we,YCF....I remember as a new babe, I suffered terrible anxiety, it’s a very long story, anyway I had cognitive therapy which helped a great deal, it was getting to the source of where that anxiety came from, then dealing with it, which I did manage to, the root of anxiety needed digging up, of course it was God who got to the root cause, but never saw it at the time, it was extremely painful, dealing with it, but God wanted it out and he got it out, “ No Pain No Gain”......I have been healed, when I get negative/ destructive thoughts now, I look straight to God.

The other day my thoughts were occupied with unpleasant things, i was reminded of the scripture about thinking good thoughts and i closed my eyes and a peace came over me. I hope that is God and that this peace will stay with me in the future. I didnt know peace like this for many years. Anyway, God will show me the truth, and i will put faith in that.

Overcoming the flesh is a spiritual battle ,Whyme, always look to Jesus/ Holy Spirit, pray constantly, just keep God at the forefront of your mind, he is number one.?

I too have gone through terrible and tortuous times, now that's is way back and the memory and the effects are distancing with time, I am thinking if I needed to go through it, as to learn the hard way, I do not mean that everyone needs to go through similar experiences.

Everyone is different and everyone's growth is different and at a different rate and time, but through those times the Lord's help and guidance was above all and that's how I learn to love him, and asked and believe that he is my strength and my empowering.

Whyme, I used to get terrible thoughts of anger, and acted on them, what I kept forgetting was, that God wants me to look to him for help, not “ myself” as soon as I broke down and poured my heart out to him, and asked for his help, everything  started to change.?

Excuse me guys, @Your closest friendnt, @clancy, and @Whyme, but these recent posts beg a question I don't see any evidence has been considered.

Why would I expect someone experiencing chronic anxiety (and who uses scripturally selectively to marginalize others in that anxiety) to be able to well instruct anyone about the battle of the mind overcoming the flesh?

I don't mean any disrespect but is the problem inherent in that not seen for what it is? Can a divorced counselor help a struggling couple? Sure. But would I prefer a divorced counselor or one married multiple decades (all other things being equal)? Can an embezzler manage stock investments? Sure, but why choose such a person when there are healthier alternatives?

Is our focus or attention on the battle......

.....or the overcoming?

Someone who overcomes anxiety with faith is not like a divorced person. Your argument here is very flawed. We are all sinners, correct? How can a sinner teach others? You just argued that we shouldn't listen to teachers because they are sinners too. We all experience anxiety too, but its how we deal with it that matters.

The Lord guides different than those who whom we trust to help. This is my experience, he builds us up and give us what we need (at times) and then he sow us are needs and how to conquer are situations.

That's what I learn, that he want us to learn to overcome and conquer and face off with our own situations.

There is not going back, he moves us forwards, he reaver things to us to help us want to go ahead and move forwards.

He has a game plan for us, for everyone of us.

I loved the world too much, and one time he said to me, go on and live your life as you want, but you are still  mine.

It took years to understand what he was telling me.

That every where I was he could use me, that he is not found only in the church and that too, which is important, very important, but he can be with us and help us in our every day life, guiding us to do everything better even at work.

He asked me to learn a lot of things about the basketball game and the teams, somehow be a fan, and then my relations with  my co-workers improved because they loved the game and talked about that.

He pointed to me to what he said: give to God what belongs to God and to your co-workers what I should give friendship in their terms. He teach me to learn to co-exist without letting my self being shallow by their culture.

Never said any of that. Once again, things never stated are put into the post, thereby grossly misrepresenting what is states. Go back and re-read the post. Think about what it actually states.

Yep.

And nothing I posted should be read to say otherwise.

Ok, what was your point i missed?

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this study, I'll be focusing on Daniel and his picture of the resurrection and its connection with Yeshua (Jesus).

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
