How does a "soul" (Gen. 2-7) relate to "His image" (Gen. 1:26 -27)?

We see Jesus as Melchizedek eating with Abram [Abraham], We see Jesus as God with 2 Angels eating with Abraham before destroying Sodom and G, we see Jesus as the Leader of God's Army with Joshua, we see Jesus as the 4th man with Shadrach-Meshack-Abednego.

^

Examples of Physical appearances before being Jesus became Jesus.

We see Jesus as a Burning Bush [specifically the non consuming FIRE] with Moses, we see Jesus as the [STAFF] of Moses, we see Jesus as the Tree of Life in the Garden, we see Jesus as Noah's [ARK], we see Jesus as a [CLOUD] by day and [PILLAR of FIRE] by night leading Moses and the just freed Hebrew slaves out of Egypt.

^

Examples of Jesus being not in a human form

And of course, we see Genesis 1 being the WORD from John 1:1

And these are just some of the examples we have.  There are more.   But I hope you understand my point here with these.

We will see what the scriptures say and what Abraham said or what you bring into the scriptures after you have read some books or you have heard the same from some reputable authority and bow down without seeking reasonable express references from scripture.

In sort a lot it is said, but can it be established from what it is in the scriptures?

I don’t think it says that... He took dirt and breathed into this formed dirt and then it became a living soul...

It does not have a living soul as though it has 3 parts- body, soul and spirit.... God created Adam with just two parts...

This second part- God breathed into Adam was not simple air as most find, but He breathed His Spirit into this dirt.

Now this creation is “in the image” of Him... Two parts- body and spirit (certainly NOT like God or a copy of God, but made in His image.

If we look upon Jesus we would see “His image” (but of course Jesus was God).

When Adam sinned he immediately lost “His spirit” that God breathed into him- Adam still could breath air and he still had his body, but he lost that thing that was given him from within God- that thing / spirit could not be in the presence of sin.

Just my thoughts, Charlie

Hello Charlie744, I am glad to participate in this OP.

There are some things in your post which I believe that are not "approved " by the scriptures even the scriptures here at Genesis.

***dredging the scriptures at hand, it is very difficult to find something in those scriptures to support your position.

The path to follow is to look at the intent of God who allowed the scriptures in Genesis to be written in they way and order they are.

Looking at the intent of the Lord God we minimized the possibilities of walking a path that was not intended by the Creator.

Thank you Tim! It certainly would not be the first time I have included my own interpretations and thoughts into His Word!

As you see it can you share your thoughts on where I have stepped over the lines and His intent?

And please don’t leave out your understanding re: the intent you find in the verses..

Thanks! Charlie

Brother Charlie, you have done what you should have done bring up for discussion what we have heard and accepted and as we grow in understanding we find other and other different ways of commending on the scriptures in Genesis our Inheritance which include the intent of the God Almighty.

God breath into Adam the breath of Life. And there he is Adam, the first Man.

It is reasonable to say that the Creator knew that one day he will be a man himself, just like Adam the first of his own Kind.

In due time he will be Like Adam in some ways as to be called "the second Adam" but not in everything as it happened to the sircumstances of Adam.

We will try to sow their similarities and point out the things that distinguish them from one another.

First we have to look at Jesus, and we cannot look at Jesus without looking at the same time at the Creator.

We have the revelation that the Messiah is a man, a Jewish man "the Son of David", the Jews had not problem with that and John the Baptist said without hesitation when he sow Jesus "the Son of God " and the disciples who heard him and were looking forwards for John to identify him they were delighted to hear that and John did not forbid them.

They knew something that the scriptures in Isaiah 9:6,7 described the Messiah as a child.

The first Adam was not divine but he was in the Life of God his Creator. And he was clean as clean as his Creator, he was a partaker of his Life and he was in the righteousness of his Creator the same thing was with Eve, even though Eve was not created in the same manner as Adam.

Eve was in the Life of Adam who was in the Life of God his Creator.

Without God breathing into her, as in the case of Adam, as she was Created from Adam and not from the dust as Adam was.

Eve inherited what Adam had at that time when she came into being.

We see how Adam welcome her. A bone of my bone and a flesh of my flesh. And they both were alive unto God and their Inheritance was the Garden of Eden they did not have the same Inheritance as the Angels in other words they did not have a Heavenly Inheritance.

ONE OF THE INTENTS OF THE CREATOR WAS TO BRING INTO BEING THE "SEED OF THE WOMAN".

AND IN SEEKING TO JUDGE THE SERPENT.

Will continue tomorrow

Thank's you Charlie.

(And will read it and edit it and correct the context if I have to)

Two parts. :)

That "Breath of life" was not the physical atmospheric air that Adam was to inhale and exhale.

I believe it was Adam's "breath of life" body, Adam’s own spiritual body (not the Holy Spirit), that God breathed into Adam.

Eccles. 12:6
Or ever the silver cord be loosed, or the golden bowl be broken, or the pitcher be broken at the fountain, or the wheel broken at the cistern.

(These are all figures of speech meaning when a person dies.)

[7] Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.

—electlady

I agree... it was not the Holy Spirit, but it was God's spirit that was breathed into Adam... this is what makes Adam "in His image" ... Adam's HUMAN spirit is nothing more than any other part or component (human hardware of software) that is Adam....  Adam has a body but that includes his legs and arms, etc., they are all included  in the definition of his "body". Now all the "software" belonging to Adam - his likes or dislikes, his ability to think, his sense of humor, his general "spirit", all his other "soft" attributes make up his "human spirit" or his "personality". This thing we usually call "spirit" is really just our non-physical properties that can NOT be separated from our body - we need both to be a human.... but this does not make us in "his image"... that requires what God breathed into Adam - His spirit which was lost when Adam sinned.

God's IMAGE, is a status. We are 'like' Him in so many ways. We ought to represent Him as if He were here with us right now.

We must not reduce the 'image' else we liken it to our physical form which as a zygote in the womb has nothing going for it - except it is STILL made in God's image.

If we reduce God's image to anything BUT a status, we then allow the abortion people the right to terminate a glob of flesh with no brain, eyes, heart etc. But IF we say that from conception it is in God's Image, then we must NOT kill God in effigy.

We thus are IMAGERS of the Lord High God who made everything. Image is STATUS.

Hey there, Charlie.  I’m still not sure what you mean by “His spirit.”  Are you meaning the Holy Spirit?

Well, only God has the Holy Spirit. But He breathed His Spirit / His Holiness / His essence into this dirt.

Anything related to God can be NO less than Holy or good and if He imparts any part of Himself into Adam it must be Holy and good - this intangible gift separates man from all other of His creation. This is what makes us in His image...

Such a difficult concept for us ... Adam and Eve never saw themselves as being naked because they were surrounded by this gift from God- His spirit could be even be seen as a light surrounding them...

I remember reading about Moses on Mt. Sinai where he saw the back of God pass by and when Moses went down the mountain his whole face glowed like a bright light!

That was the result of seeing God and being in His presence! Can you imagine the glow Adam must have shown when God breathed His spirit into him? It must have shown through every pore of his body... it would burst through his skin and was like Moses’ face only greater! No wonder they never knew they were naked— you could not possibly see through the intense light of God’s Holy Spirit breathed into Adam!

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
