Take this most seriously: A yes on earth is yes in heaven;

a no on earth is no in heaven.

What you say to one another is eternal. I mean this.”

New Living Translation
“I tell you the truth, whatever you forbid on earth will be forbidden in heaven,
and whatever you permit on earth will be permitted in heaven.

King James Bible
Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven:
and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

"the Message' version (for me) takes getting used to.
I knew this scripture but did not recognize it.
Adds perspective.

The Message is just a personal paraphrase written by Eugene Peterson and is not a translation of scripture.  Mr Peterson has taken the authors privilege to add to "scripture" what he personally got from reading the bible, which is why the last sentence (What you say to one another is eternal. I mean this) will not be found in a true translation.  I find this to be very dangerous and confusing, unless you happen to know scripture, then you will notice the difference.  It is an easy way to lead new Christians, or those who do not really read scripture, down the wrong path.  I do not consider this a bible and should never be looked upon as such.

As new generations come along, the older, somewhat "stilted" language of the King James Version may not have the impact as more modern versions. I'm sure there are many who can have more understanding of the subject addressed when it's in everyday language.

Eugene is very smart and has a talent for being a qoutist among other things but

Take this though there has been Bibles slowly adding words to what is written already even when Jesus started his ministry in the NIV.

Most surely nothing wrong with looking at the old the new finding similarities, conjunctions, chronologies of verses and chapters which i think was inspired. But will the adding of words end what will the Bible look like in a 100 years the word be 40% the other philosophy and poetry, not to be rude but it reads a little robust.

When things get repetitive in a soup of nothingness, bottomless, emptiness, inky blackness someone can loose sight of important messages.

On the surface of the deep and waters, who knows what the surface of the deep and waters was something to be learned there and could get lost in the message.

gen 1-2 First this: God created the Heavens and Earth—all you see, all you don’t see. Earth was a soup of nothingness, a bottomless emptiness, an inky blackness. God’s Spirit brooded like a bird above the watery abyss.

Genesis 1 1-2

1In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2Now the earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters.

It's been almost 2000 years since Christ died on the cross and rose again.  Ever wonder why it is our generation, the last generation before His return, that is warned so much about their faith in Christ?  Ever wonder why there will so such a falling away right before it all hits the fan?  It is because their foundation has been built upon sand and not the rock.

2 Timothy 4:-5

I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His kingdom: Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching.  For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.  But you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.

Here is the same verses from the message.  Notice the sales pitch!  Also notice how much is changed and how much of a true translation is missing.

I can’t impress this on you too strongly. God is looking over your shoulder. Christ himself is the Judge, with the final say on everyone, living and dead. He is about to break into the open with his rule, so proclaim the Message with intensity; keep on your watch. Challenge, warn, and urge your people. Don’t ever quit. Just keep it simple.

You’re going to find that there will be times when people will have no stomach for solid teaching, but will fill up on spiritual junk food—catchy opinions that tickle their fancy. They’ll turn their backs on truth and chase mirages. But you—keep your eye on what you’re doing; accept the hard times along with the good; keep the Message alive; do a thorough job as God’s servant.

When you change the truth into a fable, or story book, you loose the true meaning.  There is not depth in understanding, no cross referencing available where scripture will confirm scripture.  When there is no depth of understanding, the foundation is like building on sand, so when the time does come many will fall away as they will be so used to following a lie and not the truth.

2 Thessalonians 2:1-4

Now, brethren, concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him, we ask you,  not to be soon shaken in mind or troubled, either by spirit or by word or by letter, as if from us, as though the day of Christ had come.  Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition, who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.

Fiction has it's place, but it is also spoken of as being fiction.  Truth also has it's place, which truth cannot be changed or it loses the value of the truth.  To take a piece of fiction and sell it as truth is deceitful at best, and a cunning lie at it's core.

There are translations that are easier to read than the KJV.  No translation is perfect due to the process it has to go through trying to match the context being spoken 2000 years ago to the words of today, so learn to use the tools we have today to better understand the Greek and Hebrew instead of settling for a fictional piece.

I think the Amplified bible does a good job here

8 I assure you and most solemnly say to you, whatever you bind [forbid, declare to be improper and unlawful] on earth [f]shall have [already] been bound in heaven, and whatever you loose [permit, declare lawful] on earth [g]shall have [already] been loosed in heaven.

In this translation it is implied that the binding is done heaven and we are just declaring it.

Which puts God in control and harmonizes with the rest of the bible

Well I have often wondered why our generation is construed as the last generation before His return.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
