"And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come."

Matthew 24:14 (NIV)

If you are familiar with the "10 40 window", it includes millions of those who live in restricted countries and sometimes can put their life in jeopardy if they ever leave the beliefs of their homeland. Many Christian organizations are in the process of reaching out to these people groups with the gospel message.

So many people today are just I.N.O. Christians (In Name Only). When the going gets tough, they fade away. And compared to those who were in the Crusades of about 1071 to 1291 a.d., we cannot even come close to the abuse and suffering they probably endured.

Yes, they were much more barbaric in those days as they had to fight face to face, but the time coming will be even worse than what they endured.  Even more reason to be rooted in the truth.

Matthew 24:15-22

“Therefore when you see the ‘abomination of desolation,’ spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place” (whoever reads, let him understand), “then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains.  Let him who is on the housetop not go down to take anything out of his house.  And let him who is in the field not go back to get his clothes.  But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days!  And pray that your flight may not be in winter or on the Sabbath.  For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be.  And unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved; but for the elect’s sake those days will be shortened."

The Message is deliberate twisting of Scripture, by Eugene Peterson.  The Bible warns what will happen to people who do what he has done to Scripture.

Pro. 30:6 (MKJV) Do not add to His words, lest He reprove you and you be found a liar.

Matt. 18:18 (MKJV) Truly I say to you, Whatever you shall bind on earth shall occur, having been bound in Heaven; and whatever you shall loose on earth shall occur, having been loosed in Heaven.

"the Message' version (for me) takes getting used to.

I knew this scripture but did not recognize it.
Adds perspective.
Thanks, Daily verse...

"The message" and "The New Living Translation"  and "the living bible" are three  different translations.

The New Living translation and the living bible are paraphrases written so that children in middle school and high ages would have an easier time comprehending scripture.

I agree with one light that “the message” by Eugene Peterson, is NOT a good translation. There are several major issues that a lot of people have with “the message”. My major issue with it is that there is a lot of new age language and meaning in it. For example, it describes God as "the god of green peace"  The other two translations do NOT speak like that.

Could you tell me where "the god of green peace" is in "The Message". I have the entire bible in my computer. I "googled" the phrase you mentioned. There was no verse which had that wording. So, could you please tell me exactly where it is in "The Message". Thank you!

there is a bible translation that uses only 800 words only from the English language (the bible in basic English) to help those who do not know much English or the basics if you were to share the word in English form on 10 40 window. Berean study bible or the new heart bible good basic English versions. the NIV adds stuff like personal opinions etc. Like Jesus started his ministry about 30 that is a opinion from the author of the NIV.

Maybe they meant (the God of green hope) I am confused already green hope huh.

Romans 15:13

"Oh! May the God of green hope fill you up with joy, fill you up with peace, so that your believing lives, filled with the life-giving energy of the Holy Spirit, will brim over with hope!"

a regular translation below not sure where he got the green energy brimming lives from can a person believe and it not live to much thinking

Romans 1:13

Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, for you to abound in hope in the power of the Holy Spirit.

Either is way past anyone's comprehension or early stage of Dementia, or wasn't cut out for translating the bible. quotes he was very good at but the bible message hmm.

Search for the God of green hope instead of peace.  You will find it in Romans 15:7-13.

Also, Eugene also uses part of a Wicca's prayer in his version of the Lords Prayer found in Matthew 6.  Instead of saying "On earth as it is in Heaven", he writes "as above, so below", which I know is used in Wicca.  He not only uses new age, but also satanic worship rites.  Here is a picture of just one item you can purchase.  Search the internet, even Amazon, to see what else bears the "as above, so below" markings.

Question: Those of you who have objected so vigorously (because I used a verse from the Message) ever think that Mr. Peterson is speaking to a much younger age group. Therefore, his choice of words and phrases will not resemble the King James Version, and and perhaps many of the other newer translations. But "the true message" of the bible can be conveyed in probably all of the versions we commonly use.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
