Brian Head Welch

So we often see celebrities getting "religious" for one reason or another. While probably 99% of you don't know who Brian "Head" Welch, anyone who was a teenager from 1994-2002 probably not only knows who he is, but agrees he is one of the best guitarist of our generation. He was a guitarist for the band KoRn and basically created the "nu metal" sound.

Anyway, as someone who was a former fan of the band, I was suprised when in 2004 they cancled some tour dates. Turns out that Welch didn't want to do them. Kind of made everyone curious....anyway in Feburary of this year he split off from the band citing "moral reasons" and that he had accepted Christ as his savoir. I thought it was great when this came but not much of it, because it happens all the time then you never hear from the person again.

Not so in this case. Since that time he has started work on a new album to sing to his new found Love (as he says) and a few songs to his daughter. Likewise, in June he took a tour of India and not only visited a canibalistic tribe, but shared the Gospel of Jesus Christ with them. Not to mention that before this he went to Israel and was baptized in the Jordan river. Anyway, he's back in the states finishing up his album which he says all the money collected for this album will go to helping missionaries in India and other things...in other words, he's not going to make a dime off this album. He has also opened up a new website called, "headtochrist.com" (still being worked on, very underdeveloped). From this though he's allowing fans and former KoRn fans to post their testimonies of comming to Christ. He also has sent a letter to rapper 50 Cent (a HUGE pop icon for those who don't know) to just sit down and talk about CHrist and is recording a song that is to mimic a letter from God to 50 Cent. I even checked his theology, and not only does he have the basics down, but I agree with him on even other stuff. Like....I can't explain it. Though some wont' like his style of music (it's actually a new style of music so I can't really describe it....imagine that, for once a Christian artist is creating a new style of music and not mimicking one....amazing) I definately encourage you to check out his website and just send a word of encouragement.

IT's not uncommon for a celebrity of this magnitude or one of a lesser magnitude to come to Christ. It's not even uncommon for a pop icon or huge celebrity to say they are Christian. What is uncommon is for one to claim it, and then prove it and continue to prove it. So please, if you guys would, send a note of encouragement to him or at least get some of your youth reading up on this guy....it is an amazing story of grace.

Two more things. Statement of faith from the church he attends, just so you guys know he's not some whack job (hey, that was my first worry ). Secondly, some sites telling the story. One of them had the video transcript of the CNN interview, BUT...it's not exactly the most wholesome site (they posted a link to the transcript as "news", when in fact they were mocking him) so I won't link it.

No idea. I've been trying to figure that one out for myself. His old website had links to his music, but it looks like they're in the process of rebuilding.

Do you all remember the Wrestler Sting? He dedicated his life to the Lord. He has a great testimony.

Pete Maravich "Pistol Pete" rededicated his life to the Lord when he was playing NBA. He even changed his jersey number to 77. Would have been 777 but you can't put triple numbers on a jersey!
