As you know if you answer my post, I may not be able to respond, because I’m still having problems posting.

Morning Clancy---read the post I was responding to. You will see who was being referenced.

We might not see eye to eye, Miss Muffett, but I appreciate the discussion...

I believe the Bible means what it says when it says "For the living know that they shall die, but the dead know not anything." Ecclesiastes 9:5.  Why, cause they are JUST SLEEPING.  Remember when Jesus went to Bethany to raise Lazarus who had been dead for 3 days?  Lazarus had been dead for 3 days...he would have had a real story to tell of where he had gone and who he had seen, if that was what happened.  But nothing of the sort happened.  He was just sleeping, waiting for Jesus to raise him from the dead.

If the common understanding is correct, that when people die they go to Heaven...then they DO KNOW THINGS and Ecclesiastes 9:5 is wrong.  They would see all the horrible things that happen to their loves ones who are still on EARTH. How depressing that would be.  It wouldn't make Heaven a happy place.

Good morning Tammy,

I don't have the time to read every post on this thread, my personal hermeneutics may have already been addressed. You sure did generate some good healthy conversation though :D

I'm not attempting to change anyone's doctrine or worldview, just stating my own P.O.V. that is supported by scripture, with a bit of speculation.

We are triune beings, consisting of body, soul and spirit. Our souls and spirits were created immortal; as our body was immortal before the fall of Adam. Death, of the body entered into the world, and also of the soul [spiritual death]. There is no "soul sleep" as has been quoted, "absent from the body..."

I also have wondered why it's not recorded what Lazarus saw and heard during those three days? But first let's back up a bit, why is 'three days' so important with a Jewish Messiah resurrection, Lazarus's three days, the Two Witnesses laying dead in the streets three days, and a Jewish people?

Excluding the Sadducees [which do not believe in a resurrection], the Jewish belief is; a body cannot be resurrected after 'two' days, because of rigor mortis [stiffness, sign of death] and bodily decay. This removes any doubt if the person was actually physically dead or not. Ever touched or moved a dead body after 24 hours?

2 Corinthians 12:2 (KJV) I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) such an one caught up to the third heaven. 3. And I knew such a man, (whether in the body, or out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) 4. How that he was caught up into paradise, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter.

The apostle Paul was restricted [unlawful] to speak of what her saw and heard in Heaven. The apostle John was restricted to not revealing what the "Seven Thunders" spoke, and so on... It stands to reason, that Lazarus was also prohibited from speaking about his experience. The Lord allows and restricts what He will.

The Bible uses the word "sleep" for those in the Lord, because that's exactly what the body looks like; they are sleeping.

Resurrection: ἀνάστασις anastasis, an-as´-tas-is; from 450; a standing up again, i.e. (lit.) a resurrection from death (individual, gen. or by impl. [its author]), or (fig.) a (moral) recovery (of spiritual truth):—raised to life again, resurrection, rise from the dead, that should rise, rising again. James Strong, A Concise Dictionary of the Words in the Greek Testament and The Hebrew Bible (Bellingham, WA: Logos Bible Software, 2009), 11.

The body is physically raised and the soul reunites with the body. All will be eventually raised; some to glory, some to everlasting shame and torment.

The rich man, the counterpart of the other Lazarus, is not soul sleeping; he is in jail in Haides, under great torment, conscience with all his senses; awaiting the Great White Throne judgment for the eternal prison, the Lake of Fire.

Our 'judgment' comes at the BEMA seat of Christ. But, this is not for condemnation, it's to give an account of our lives, and receive our rewards and crowns, if any. I cannot prove it, but I suspect we will be witnesses at the Great White Throne judgment. And witness our lost family and loved ones being condemned for all of eternity? If that turns out to be true; how could we bear it?

It seems logical that we will fully understand the Holiness and righteousness of God and completely understand. I've often wondered, when God wipes away all our tears, exactly at what point of what we know and see does that happen?

Just my thoughts Tammy.

I've met people who are real Christians who get very discouraged.  Think about it, ALIVE... Do you believe Jonah was a Christian?  I do.  He wanted to die... Jonah 4:3 ~ "Therefore now, O LORD, take, I beseech thee, my life from me; for it is better for me to die than to live."
Then there was Elijah....remember, he had just had a tremendous victory, God answered his prayer for rain after no rain for 3 years...and that very night, he went from being on top of the mountain (physically and spiritually) to the lowest valley (physically and spiritually).  He too, wanted to die.  Many GOOD CHRISTIANS hit LOW spots in their life...and Satan knows when they are there and tries to discourage them so that they will snuff their life out, and be LOST.

These did not have the indwelling Holy Spirit...consider this. They were not Alive In Christ.

@clancyThis is what I was referring to---not anybody on the forum. I hope this clears it up for you.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
