Chip implanted in cop's hand would allow only officer to fire the gun

By JILL BARTON

Associated Press

Posted April 13 2004, 4:54 PM EDT

PALM BEACH -- A new computer chip promises to keep police guns from firing if they fall into the wrong hands.

The tiny chip would be implanted in a police officer's hand and would match up with a scanning device inside a handgun. If the officer and gun match, a digital signal unlocks the trigger so it can be fired. But if a child or criminal would get hold of the gun, it would be useless.

The technology is the latest attempt to create a so-called ``smart gun'' and could be marketed to law enforcement agencies within a year, according to Verichip Corp., which has created the microchip.

Verichip president Keith Bolton said that the technology could also improve safety for the military and individual gun owners.

``If you let your mind wander to other potential uses, you can imagine the lives that could be saved,'' he said.

Verichip, which has marketed similar microchips for security and medical purposes, announced Tuesday a partnership with gun maker FN Manufacturing to produce the smart weapons. The companies have developed a prototype and are working to refine its accuracy, Bolton said.

Similar developments are under way at other gun manufacturers and research firms. The New Jersey Institute of Technology and Australian gun maker Metal Storm Ltd. are working on a prototype smart gun that would recognize its owner's individual grip.

``We're at an interesting age where all sorts of science fiction is becoming real technology,'' said Donald Sebastian, NJIT vice president for research and development and director of the project.

The technology could also eventually have an even bigger impact on the illegal gun trade, Sebastian said.

The FBI estimated that 67 percent of the 16,204 murders in 2002 were committed with firearms.

``You have a long-term benefit of making it much more difficult for a handgun to have any value to anyone other than the original owner,'' Sebastian said.

But until the smart-gun technology is repeatedly proved to be reliable, some law enforcement authorities remain leery.

The scanning device could malfunction, the officer's hand with the computer chip could be smashed during a fight or an officer might need to use a partner's gun, said West Palm Beach police training Sgt. William Sandman.

``We have power outages, computers crash. Would you risk your life knowing all those things that could go wrong?'' Sandman said.

Verichip's Bolton said those concerns already are being addressed. He said the guns can be designed to work for an officer, his partner and a supervisor. Departments could set routines where the scanning devices in guns could be checked before every shift.

The chip needs no battery or power source. It works much like those that have been implanted in pets over the past decade so they can be identified if they get lost. Verichip, a subsidiary of the Palm Beach-based technology firm Applied Digital Solutions, developed a ``more intelligent'' version two years ago for humans and estimates that about 900 people worldwide have been implanted with them.

The chips can be used instead of security key cards at office buildings or to use global positioning satellites to keep track of a relative who might suffer from Alzheimer's. It can store medical information that emergency rooms could read or financial and identification information to prevent fraud.

The chip, about the size of a grain of rice, is inserted into an arm or hand with a syringe _ much like a shot is given.

Bolton said the company has seen no medical complications and that the technology will only improve with time.

Once the technology is accepted, legislation could follow to encourage the use of smart guns. New Jersey already has passed legislation that will require smart gun technology on all handguns sold _ three years after the state attorney general certifies that smart guns are available in the marketplace.

The National Rifle Association opposes the legislation because of potential problems with smart-gun technology, but gun safety advocates argue that the technology could encourage gun ownership with the newfound sense of security.

``It seems that guns are the only product that haven't followed a path of development that leads to greater safety for the user. The only real change we've seen is to make them more lethal and smaller so they can be more easily concealed,'' said Rob Wilcox, a spokesman for the Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence. ``This is one of the steps that hasn't been taken and we think this debate is one that needs to take place.'' ___

:P this one line really stuck out to me....that is the problem nowdays...people are letting their mind wander....wander away from God and his word that is.

I truly believe that one or two more terroist attacks and people will be lining up to get this chip....all in the name of security and their safety. False security is what it is though.

Great post thunder :D

Love and Blessings,

Angel

Hey Thunder,

What do you think about Bin Laden's offer for a truce with EU if they pull out of the Muslim countries and don't attack any Muslims? Hmmmmm

Sad but true. Millions are going to perish because they don't love the truth. Instead of loving God's truth, they trade it for unrighteousness and will get caught in the trap, the strong delusion that God promised to send. I believe we can already see evidence of people voluntarily falling for the delusion. These volunteers are guinny-pigs for the globalists. Soon, the day will come when this is no longer voluntary.

It still can't be proven, but I posted the article above, and the one on the previous page for a particular reason. The hunch I have keeps getting stronger as time marches on.

I would be surprised if Verichip can pull this off, I mean having police officers receive a chip in order to fire their weapons, but that's not why I posted these. I posted them in hopes that the wise will start to make the connection. Verichip has made their product very attractive in several areas of our lives. I mean, medical, security, passports, identity theft, banking, tracking lost dogs or kidnapped babies, but the connection I want to show here, is now Verichip is in Europe. Hello, can anyone here me? The godless EU would probably fall for this in a heart beat, especially when hit with a few more terror attacks, or a big one. I'll continue to keep an eye on this Verichip.

I think their hands are tied, and prophecy must be fulfilled. Maybe I should answer this from the book I'm working on:

"They may truely be seeking peace, but these are blind guides, for true peace can not be found without the true Prince of Peace.  So in the end, with their worldly wisdom they will only find a false peace in this dark world, which is nothing less than a trap.  Jesus said, "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives" (John 14:27).

On Sept. 11th, 2001, Satan set another trap for those who are in the world.  The deceiver is giving the world a choice between (peace and security) or (terrorism).  It's a war in which both sides will be led into the trap.  The only way to escape this trap is to obey God and come out of the world.  God's word demands that we be holy (set apart from the world), and obedient. Satan won't tell you that, but God has told us many times."

They sure are leading the way in this technology. Some christians have already confronted this company, as a way of exposing them. I hope they don't think that we can just complain about it and think it will just disappear.

Soon, the mark of the beast will be required. They can not force it on us until the restrainer is first taken out of the way. But once the restrainer is taken out of the way, it will be a whole new ballgame. Christians will not be able to complain it away, if they do, they will be killed. This is why I believe Jesus told us to keep watch, so that we may be able to escape. :suspect:  :suspect:

Home At Last

It looks like it's finally happening. The United States is turning Iraq over to the United Nations. And, if you recall, that's what I've been expecting.

You see, since the first Gulf War, I've suspected a UN controlled Iraq could become the Babylon of Revelation 17 and 18 -- the Babylon that is destroyed in one hour with fire.

There is much debate on this issue. And I recall when, in the early nineties, I began really contemplating this question. Suddenly, the American Dollar, with its image of a pyramid, came to my mind. And the thought struck me -- it's America. America is the Babylon of Revelation.

You see, the pyramid is a symbol of unity. Above if we find Latin words that mean, Out of many one. And for Bible believers, this naturally reminds us of the story of the Tower of Babel found in the book of Genesis. Here the Bible records mankind's first attempt at unity. Let's read the account:

Now the whole earth used the same language and the same words. It came about as they journeyed east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar and settled there. They said to one another, "Come, let us make bricks and burn them thoroughly." And they used brick for stone, and they used tar for mortar. They said, "Come, let us build for ourselves a city, and a tower whose top will reach into heaven, and let us make for ourselves a name, otherwise we will be scattered abroad over the face of the whole earth." The LORD came down to see the city and the tower which the sons of men had built. The LORD said, "Behold, they are one people, and they all have the same language. And this is what they began to do, and now nothing which they purpose to do will be impossible for them. "Come, let Us go down and there confuse their language, so that they will not understand one another's speech." So the LORD scattered them abroad from there over the face of the whole earth; and they stopped building the city (Genesis 11:1-8 New American Standard Bible).

Why did God stop the builders of Babel and scatter them across the earth? Because, the unity they were trying to establish wasn't under God, it was under godless Nimrod and his false system of religion. God stopped Nimrod. And, He has been working to stop the godless from uniting ever since. That's what the Apostle Paul meant when he said:

For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only he who now restrains will do so until he is taken out of the way (2 Thessalonians 2: 7).

Yet in America, God allowed these nations He scattered to come together. Why? I believe it's because America was founded under God. As a result, America has become known around the world as the melting pot of the nations. So, does that make America the Babylon of Revelation?

The problem I have with this idea is, in the case of the other major players of Bible prophecy, the fulfillment has been literal. For example, Israel has been restored literally. And, so is the return of the Roman Empire occurring literally. This indicates the fulfillment of the Babylon of Revelation will also be literal. And, that's where this recent news may come in. You see, it's being reported America may hand Iraq over to the UN to govern on June 30th Read about it here.

Think about it. The nations God scattered across the face of the earth now finally back together from where they where scattered.

Hi guys~ :t2:

I was wondering RT.....in the previous post, are they saying they believe (or he believes) that the U.S. is the Babylon in revelation or Iraq? It sounds a little like both. What do you think Herb is trying to say or what do you think personally? Thanks....it's just a little confusing to me.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
