Blessings & "hi" to you too WordSword

I'm glad you appreciated my lil 2 cents-LOL    I see you referred to a John Gill commentary, his are my favorites-always good imo

BTW,I really like you subject Title- fitting                                    With love-in Christ,Kwik

Hi, and thanks for the encouraging comments! Yes, Gill has been my most used commentator for a long time now, and Albert Barnes which was one century after his is fairly good too. These are about the only two that I can find after 43 years of study that were the most advanced (esp. Gill).

Blessings to your Family!

“If we sin willfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins” (Heb 10:26 KJV).” “If we deliberately continue sinning after we have received knowledge of the truth, there is no longer any sacrifice that will cover these sins” (NLT).

Yeah. In fact, we need to take seriously what Jesus said in His Word and abide by it.

I think you should be aware that some believe John Gill who wrote his "Exposition of the Whole Bible" is considered to be a hyper-Calvinist by some famous theologians.  I read John Gill's Exposition often but always temper what he writes with others like the Believer's Bible Commentary (BBC), the Bible Knowledge Commentary (BKC), and Unger's Commentary of the Old Testament (hard to find but worth it).  Jamison-Faucet-Brown (JFB) is also a good commentary.

Appreciate your reply and concern! Of all of the commentators available I've come to learn that he is the most consistent with accurate and in-depth comments.

Amen! In my understanding I believe all who are truly reborn are progressively being taught, guided and enabled by God to "will and do of His good pleasure" (Phl 2:13).

There's much to ponder in John Gill's Exposition of the Bible regarding Genesis 1:1-1:3.  But that subject is already being and has been discussed in multiple threads so I will not derail this thread with further comment.

If it were not for grace we would have no hope . This pertains to all of us or we all would surely burn forever.  Is this true. Is this a relevant  statement to  this post? If a man struggles with a sin and has failed  many times. but has asked for forgiveness countless times knowing full well if God does not forgive him he will burn in hell forever.  I have often asked  the Lord for compassion for all who have experienced this problem. Forever in flames s to great a punishment for any man even when they deserve it. How does a man ask for grace? Could it be 70 timed 70 and how many times shall he be forgiven.

Will one say yea or nay.

Not just any sin but a particular sin. . For an example  maybe alcohol or drug addiction. pornography  We always sin in some way but we cannot ignore it as it was something we could overcome ourselves. We must pray everyday because of weakness in  one form or another. This is what Jesus dies for us for. It is said attitude is everything.

How can we all say we have been enlightened, if we all have differing perspectives on the Word? I therefore believe that though there are some here who have been enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, being made partakers with the Holy Spirit, and tasted the good Word of God, and powers of the world to come;...the vast majority here, however, I do not believe yet meet these criteria. This is good news for them, as this means there is still room to repent.

What do you mean by room to repent? we are only given one day at a time. yesterday is gone and we have no promise we will have a tomorrow. Today is the only day we have to come to Him for repentance. If we need to come to Him every day we must come when we have today too do it. Maybe we sin  in some little way so we say Oh well it not such a bad thing can we go on as if there is no need to address Him about it now?

I say if we wake up in the morning we need to Pray for forgiveness even for sins we don't know we have done. The habitual man who sins knows who he is. as well as Jesus    "Psalm 139" He know who you are to. There are none righteous no not one. Romans 2

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
