Hi Adam,

The A/C is not taken over by Satan till the Middle of the Trib. When he makes a treaty with Israel he is just a man.

As to the Lord making a covenant. HE IS THE COVENANT.

`I will preserve you and give you as a covenant to the people...` (Isa. 49: 8)

so you do believe in dual prophecy...thats interesting as few do follow this kind of theology in the way SDA's do.

I have always seen these two verses in Daniel 9 as referring to multiple periods in history past and future.

Certainly there is a direct correlation with the Seleucid empire (we know Antiochus Epiphanes defiled/desecrated the temple by sacrificing pigs on the alter),  but there is also clearly correlation with the coming messiah and his ministry in AD27-31 and to the stoning of Stephen in AD34, however it also represents the end of time just prior to the second coming.

So with the above principles in mind, i do agree with you that this prophecy does have a distant future fulfilment too (where distant is relative to the time of Daniel)

Hi Adam,

I do believe in some prophecies having a near and far application, however I do not see that in relation to Daniel 9: 24 - 27. It is very specific there as I have outlined further back in my comments. If you would like to discuss those scriptures I posted in relation to Dan. 9 then that is what discussing is all about.

I am not into theories.

regards, Marilyn.

Hi Marilyn,

I do not believe that Daniel 9:27 can be the antichrist.

The reason why this cannot be the case is because in order to fulfill the nature of this verse...ie the confirmation of "The Covenant" you are breaching what Jesus himself states in Matthew 12:26&27

26 And if Satan cast out Satan, he is divided against himself; how shall then his kingdom stand?

27 And if I by Beelzebub cast out devils, by whom do your children cast them out? therefore they shall be your judges.

Jesus himself clearly stated that Satan cannot make a covenant with people that is against himself. The Abrahamic covenants made by God were as follows:

1. The promised land

2. you shall become a great nation

3. the promise of blessing and redemption (remembering that this also refers to what God told the serpent in Genesis 3..."he shall crush your head")

We know that when Satan tempted Jesus, it was not in an effort to glorify God...the temptation specifically asked that Jesus bow down and worship Satan...the glorification was for the devil himself.

This is not what daniel 9 is talking about. Very clearly, that is the covenant made for the coming of the true messiah. Jesus fulfilled this very covenant at the end of his ministry when he was cut off in the middle of the week (crucified)

Remember, Jesus ministry was 3.5 years. From AD 27 until AD 31, or AD29-AD33 (either way its still same time duration).

"Where is the remaining 3.5 years of this prophecy" you ask?

Stephen was stoned exactly 3.5 years after the crucifixion of Christ. So there are 7 years from Jesus baptism until the stoning of Stephen (you can check the history... it is accurate)

Adam, very nice comments. I would like to ask you about the remaining 3.5 years of the last week in the 70 week prophecy.... I do understand this is what the SDA folks believe (hope this is an accurate understanding of their beliefs), but why do you think it is necessary to provide an answer or interpretation or response for the remaining 3.5 years of His ministry?

1) In my view, there is no reason to 'fill in' or 'fill up' the 3.5 years. The Scriptures have already told us He would be 'cut off' in the midst of the week. Yet, He would complete all 6 of His requirements.

2) Stephan may fit the time line but he has nothing to do with the cleansing of the Sanctuary or any other of the 6 requirements given to Jesus to accomplish.

3) In fact, the 2300 days prophecy addresses this issue (among others) and essentially tells us not to concern ourselves with an 'accounting' for the remaining 3.5 calendar period....

Thanks, Charlie

The prophecy at Daniel 8;14 are not consider days but years.  Same as the "weeks"- of years-starting at Daniel 9:24.

Hi guys,

I have been doing a lot of research lately on the book of Daniel in particular chapters 2, 7 and 8.

Its a very controversial topic it seems

Daniel 2 is important i believe because it sets the theme of the entire book of daniel...ie the great statue is in reality all about the future from the time of Daniel until the time of the end (when the stone cut without hands hits the statute on the feet and completely demolishes it...i believe this will be fulfilled at the second coming of Christ)

My belief is that Daniel 2 links with Daniel 7 because in chapter 7 we see that whilst the statue in chapter 2 appears royal, grand and refined, in truth those kingdoms represented by it act as beasts in their behaviour towards the wishes of God and his people and this is illustrated by the use of beasts instead of a statute of refined royalty.

I also see a link between daniel 7 and 8 because of:

1. the overriding theme set forth in chapter 2 - this book is about future kingdoms.

2. The little horn is mentioned and this links with Revelation 13

3. clearly these two animals are conquering world powers

Over the last few months i have read a number of posts on various forums about this topic...one very popular theory is that Daniel 8 is fulfilled by Antiochus Epiphanes. I think that from my research thus far it is pretty clear that this theory is dead in the water...he was not a particularly successful conquerer nor was he a significant world power at the time.

For example, he was humiliated by the Romans in Egypt when the local Roman Governor drew a circle around him in the sand and gave him an ultimatum...he must make up his mind on returning home with his army before he could leave the circle...thus Antiochus left behind his Egyptian campaign with his tail between his legs at the hands of the Romans (who were very clearly a far more dominant world power at this time)...hardly the spoils of war from a great conqueror!

Another part of this popular Antiochus theory requires one to attempt to even link him with Daniel 8:14 by changing the interpretation of the 2300 day prophecy timeline. The proponents of this theory state that 2300 days is actually 2300 sacrificial days and that as the tradition contained 2 sacrifices per day (one in the morning and one in the evening), then in fact its only 1150 days.

I am interested in this last part from a traditional Jewish point of view...does the Jewish tradition read Daniel 8:14 as being 2300 days or 1150 days?

I think you need to study chapter 8 a little deeper. The entire chapter is about the end of the Persian empire and then the Greek empire and finally towards the end of the Greek empire. Antiochus is very important in the bible because of His treatment of the Jews and by becoming a TYPE of the Revelation 13 Beast. Pay very close attention to the words spoken by the angel.

I believe Daniel's meaning is 2300 days. We probably won't know the exact beginning of the count until we get to heaven.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
