Romans 7:4; 2 Corinthians 11:2; and Ephesians 5:22–33 indicate that the wife of the Lamb is the Church. In light of these identifications, it is evident that Revelation 19:7–9 is referring to the marriage of Jesus Christ to the Church and the subsequent marriage supper.

Hi angels4u,

Some thoughts as how I was taught.

Rom. 7: 4

`should be married to another.` The Greek word used is `Ginomai,` meaning `might become.` See verse 13 where it states Ginomai ` might become.` If `to marry` was meant then the Greek word `gamed,` would be used.

2 Cor. 11: 2

Paul says -`…for I betrothed you to one husband, that to Christ I might present you as a pure virgin.` (2 Cor. 11: 2)

This is not a doctrinal passage, but the pure exhortation of Paul to his converts only. He no more declares they are the Bride, than he (Paul) was their father or mother. (1 Thess. 2: 7 & 11)

`My children, with whom I am again in labor until Christ is formed in you.` (Gal. 4: 19)

Paul talks to these converts about `when I was present with you….I kept myself from being a burden to you…` (2 Cor. 11: 9) We can read these passages but they are specifically written to Paul`s converts. And we do not take it personally as though Paul would `present us ` to Christ.

It is Christ who will present us to Himself. (Jude 24)

Eph. 5: 28 - 32

Paul says - `So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loves His wife loves himself….For we are members of His Body, of His flesh, & of His bones. For this cause shall a man leave his father & mother, & shall be joined unto his wife & they two shall be one flesh. This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ & the church (the Body of Christ).`  (Eph. 5: 28 – 32)

This passage again is not doctrinal, but exhortational & illustrative. It is a metaphor: regarding devotion & affection – definitely not marriage. As Christ loved His Body – the Church; so husbands ought to love their body – ie. their wives.

The Body of Christ is `One New Man,` (Eph. 2: 15 – 16)  & `unto a perfect Man` (Eph. 4: 12 – 13) Masculine.

Marilyn ,so you believe it will be on earth after the GT in Jerusalem as we know it ?

Hi angels4u,

yes that is what I was taught and believe.

If we look at the parable of the wedding feast, (Matt. 22: 1 - 14) we see that the Lord was talking to the people of Israel concerning the rulership promised to them by God. The prophet Daniel prophesied of this.

`In the days of those kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom which shall never be destroyed...` (Dan. 2: 44)

Jesus shortened the phrase to `Kingdom of Heaven,` meaning the rulership of God from heaven through Israel.

Daniel was prophesying about the end of the Gentile rulership and we see in Matthew 22: 7 where God sends out His armies to destroy the murders and burn their city. Revelation gives detail of that. Jesus also said He was coming with His mighty angels Luke 9: 26 and Paul also spoke about it, 2 Thess. 1: 7. This is Armageddon where the world`s armies try to come against the Lord and His angelic army. (Rev. 19: 19)

So the `marriage` is the connecting of God again with His wife, Israel, (Isa. 54: 5). Those invited to the `wedding feast,` the celebration of Christ as Messiah over Israel, are the `sheep` nations, those who looked after the Jews in the trib. It is not the great white throne judgments of works but just who can go into the millennial kingdom of Christ`s rule through Israel. That is why `good and bad` (Matt. 22: 10) are invited, for they will go into the kingdom rule of Israel over the nations if they looked after the brethren, the Jews. (Matt. 25: 40)

Interesting , I'm trying to learn more about this :) Such a wonderful topic!

I can speculate only but it certainly is plausible. It makes sense so it could be the case. But I don't know for sure.

I was hoping for more reaction to this thread. I've watched women (and men) when they are engaged to be married, and it would seem like there is no other topic, or object of their attention, than their fiancé. I've been there myself and remember vividly going AWOL from the military, at great risk, just to see my then wife-to-be for a few hours. But it is not so with Christians. Just try to bring up the most wonderful of Fiancés - Jesus, at a table full of Christians at lunch, and all you get is blank looks. Try that with a young 23-year-old engaged maiden and you can hardly get her to stop talking about all her husband-to-be's attributes.

There are two points I would like to throw into the fire in the hope that we can stir up some enthusiasm for our glorious Groom.

1. The first is the the Wedding Feast is LIKENED to the Kingdom of Heaven and it is abundantly clear that not all Christians are going to make it into the Kingdom when Christ returns and sets it up on earth. The gospel of Matthew is THE gospel on the Kingdom and parable after parable, and direct statement after direct statement indicates that Christians will be excluded from the Kingdom for various reasons. Matthew 7:21-23 is a prime example. It is obvious that men who knew Jesus, knew His power, knew His Name and HAD His power to do many wondrous works in His Name, will not enter the Kingdom despite their claims. The reason given is twofold.

  1. They had no intimate relationship wit their Lord. the word "knew" in verse 22 means "the intimate knowledge of a sexual encounter". The word is first used when Joseph did not make love to Mary until Jesus was born in Matthew 1:25. That is, these Christians who made claim to a seat in the Kingdom OF Heaven (not Kingdom IN Heaven), had been so busy with wondrous works that they were not intimate with their Lord and Groom.
  2. The logical consequence of not having an intimate knowledge and intimate relationship with your boss, or Head, or Husband to be, is that you just DON'T KNOW WHAT PLEASES HIM! So you are likely to engage in what pleases YOU! Casting out a demon is great. But what if your Head wanted the demon to remain for a week longer to teach somebody a lesson? Your grand work of casting out a demon that the Lord did not want cast out that specific day will turn you into a "WORKER OF INIQUITY"! Why? Because you did NOT do the will of the Father in heaven!

And if half, or even more Christians are refused entry to the Kingdom, they are also refused entry to the Wedding Feast, because in parable, your "Garment" is your works (Rev.19:7-8). And thu the wording of Revelation ADMITS that not all Christians make it into the Wedding Feast because only those who made it ARE BLESSED! The phrase "Blessed are those ... " implies that some where not invited and thus NOT BLESSED.

2. And now, the immensity of the first point is seen in the second point. As the author of the OP has shown, Christ's Bride is the Church. While Jehovah was spiritual Husband to Israel until she committed whoredom's by worshiping other spirits, Christ's Bride is VERY DIFFERENT. The Bride Groom's Name is Jesus, and that is the name given to a MAN. And God has said that "its is not good for a MAN to be alone". And the ORIGIN of this Man's Bride is HIS BONE AND FLESH

28 So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself. 29 For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church: 30 For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones

But here is the dilemma. In verses 25-27 we read the inspired Word, which tells us;

25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; 26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, 27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.

Christ, on the one hand, sets PERFECTION as the standard for His Bride, and on the other hands plainly tells us that certain Christians ARE IMPERFECT when He returns! If 90% of Christians don't make it into the Kingdom, and their Garment is unfit for the Wedding Feast, WHO THEN IS THE BRIDE OF REVELATION 19??? It CANNOT BE THE WHOLE CHURCH because the bulk of the Church is full of "spots and wrinkles"! Take the seven Churches of Revelation. What percentage were without spot or wrinkly? What percentage are holy? In your circle of Christians, how many even talk about their Fiancé? Do you? How man tell little white lies? How many fill their tax returns in honestly? How many rise 15 minutes earlier than necessary to spend some time with Him? How many are forgiving and who turn the other cheek to receive a second blow?

Should we not discuss the gruesome fact that many of us are not only unfit for the Wedding Feast, but that we won't even be part of the BRIDE?

:o ... or am I getting blank looks?

Jesus Christ returns in fire and final judgement, dissolving this earth by fire (The End)

Jesus won't walk amongst mortal man upon this earth as suggested

Jesus warned his followers about teachings that is preparing for the false walk on "Antichrist" in Jerusalem

(Believe It Not) (Go Not Forth)

Matthew 24:23-27KJV

23 Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not.

24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

25 Behold, I have told you before.

26 Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not.

27 For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

Zechariah 14:16 Who Will Be Left Of The Nations?

You will closely note, Zechariah 14:16 & Isaiah 4:3-4 are "Parallel" readings of the same event, as Isaiah gives a clear account of those who are left, those who are found in the book of life, the final judgement has passed, eternity has begun "After" The Day Of The Lord

You will closely note in Isaiah 4:4 below, Jerusalem will be purged by the spirit of (Judgement) & (Burning)

Zechariah 14:12KJV
12 And this shall be the plague wherewith the Lord will smite all the people that have fought against Jerusalem; Their flesh shall consume away while they stand upon their feet, and their eyes shall consume away in their holes, and their tongue shall consume away in their mouth.

Only The Righteous Are Left, The Book Of Life "Was" Opened (Every One That Is Written Among The Living)

Zechariah 14:16KJV
16 And it shall come to pass, that every one that is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall even go up from year to year to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, and to keep the feast of tabernacles.

Isaiah 4:3-4KJV
3 And it shall come to pass, that he that is left in Zion, and he that remaineth in Jerusalem, shall be called holy, even every one that is written among the living in Jerusalem:
4 When the Lord shall have washed away the filth of the daughters of Zion, and shall have purged the blood of Jerusalem from the midst thereof by the spirit of judgment, and by the spirit of burning.

Revelation 21:24-27KJV
24 And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honour into it.
25 And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there shall be no night there.
26 And they shall bring the glory and honour of the nations into it.
27 And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
