The unavoidable truth is that many Christians are becoming desensititized. The Holy Spirit no longer fills our hearts with passion for purity and holiness. Take a look at our television,movies,literature and video games today. A Christian needs to make good Godly choices.

2 Corinthians 2:11

lest Satan should take advantage of us; for we are not ignorant of his devices.

I don't consider myself to be desensitized. I do go through periods of temptation occasionally to accept the worlds junk because a lot of it still occasionally looks good to this old sinful flesh residing in me.

Accepting the devil's fruit will always leave a bad taste in my mouth and remind me why I stayed away from it in the first place. Unfortunately sometimes I still sample the fruit basket and come away empty every time. If we keep ourselves away from the devil's fruit, we aren't as likely to be tempted by it.

Ongoing un repented gorging on the devil's food isn't something I can in good conscience ever do. This is the only thing that could lead us into desensitization. Continued sin. The question is, what constitutes 'continued'? If you have to ask that question you are probably on the wrong side in the wrong fruit bowl. For the Christian it should be as close to never as possible. Ideally never is best.

Good post with excellent points. Thank you for the reminder.

Romans 12:[2] And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

The Holy Spirit still fills our hearts with passion for purity and holiness (He never changes and always seeks to glorify Jesus).

John 16:[13] Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

It's our minds (souls) where we become desensitized to the world around us indeed through television, movies, etc.

Luke 17:[26] And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man.
[27] They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all.
[28] Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded;
[29] But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all.
[30] Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.

2 Peter 2:[4] For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;
[5] And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;
[6] And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly;
[7] And delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked:
[8] (For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds;)

Indeed it all comes back to choice just like in the garden of Eden. Shalom

Not that I am being judgmental, but look at the manner of dress / attire we deem acceptable today

when within my lifetime

it was considered inappropriate

even whorish.

Are we desensitized?

Without a doubt. Without a doubt.

I agree. That is a whole different post but the way people dress today is not appropriate.

here i am talking of a secular, old film, and i then watched the modern version and could see the morals have so fallen it comes through in the new version or maybe i just didn't notice it before, in the 1971 version, but i see a lot of self infatuation in the updated version of this film

for instance this was a family film from 1971 and then the modern version in 2005 and i just had a quick look and was horrified by it. so if i can see it in the secular world....yes be careful what you watch, especially family films!!

I would watch a very old classic movie.

I would watch a very old classic movie. Most of those movies are ok. You will sometimes see an actress with a top that is too low. The old television shows are usually ok as well Father Knows Best, My Three Son's.

yes i like the old classics and i like watching Westerns that are before 1970's i love the scenery that is so edifying i find  and the story lines are fairly ok. but mostly i watch Christian films where i can. however there are some films that label themselves as Christian and are questionable and i steer away from Hollywood films, be that  secular or Christian

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

      Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

      This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

      You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

      Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

      I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

      For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

      2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

      So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

      Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
      Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

      Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

      As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

      Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
      Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

      So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
