I understand that everybody on these boards are firm believers often zealously to their doctrinal beliefs, but is it necessary to post such long responses?  If anyone is trying to have a "conversation" about a topic, it makes it difficult when you have to scroll through a half a page of material before you can reply.  Wouldn't it be easier to post two or three points at a time, even leaving out some supporting evidence for a later post, so as to keep the boards in conversational tones?

I completely agree. Although I have learned from and enjoyed some of the rather long posts, I just don't have time to read them all. Plus I get the feeling that most posts can be condensed with the message in tack.

I usually just give up when the post is to long. How can you answer when it is like reading a small book?

And then I have noticed too, that people copy these long posts to there post, before they reply. A lot of scrolling going on, LOL.

Everyone can do what they want, but I think smaller posts are just more user friendly.......... :il:

I agree with you both, marytr and rafter.

It's hard to stay in tune with the issue at hand when you have to scroll thru what seems like a 30 page document just to get to the point of the matter.

Maybe these long articles can be hyperlinked in rather than pasted in, and we can read them more at our leisure...surely if they're being pasted in they can be web-referenced just as easily.  It also allows the source credibility too.

We had tons of problems with some users in regard to the former Catholic/Protestant thread doing this.  It became so voluminous that many who were discussing the issues (they were valid issues) decided "enough was enough" and quit posting.

Excellent point Rafter.  I forgot to mention there was no need to cut and paste.  I for one know what I have posted.  If someone simply types your name then a rebuttal, you know what they are talking about.  If you don't, then just scroll up or go back a few pages.

I have no problems with long posts. But sometimes it seems that people make a point with 100 words that could be effectively made with 20. Also I like it when people keep to the issue in the thread I have seen some posts that expand the issues in the tread from 1 to 10 therefore if you wish to reply you need to cover more issues than the original post in the thread introduced. If people find that one issue causes then to bring up other related issues they should stop and start a new thread. I have seen some treads that have drifted from the original issue and have discussed a totally unrelated issue and then it changed again. So someone coming to a tread for the first time will read the first post and then go to the last posts and be totally confused.  :halo:  that

I'm sorry brother Adstar!!! I am definately guilty of tangents!! I am SUCH a tangent person!!  :x:  :x:  :x:  I'll try to not do that!

To answer the POINT of this post - (ADSTAR!!!! Did you go off on a tangent???? LOL!  :halo: ) - I TOTALLY agree!! Posting some article that has been copied and pasted will not influence me to change my mind. We all can find anything on the net to support our debate. And, it is annoying to have to scroll through three feet of words. JMO.I am interested in discussion when I come to a discussion board.

I agree.  I gave up coming in here for that reason, posts were too long.  Tonight I am just checking in, to see what is new.

It is hard to keep on a subject when you can't find what the point is  :c2:

I apologize for my longish posts and concur with the above. It takes more skill and preparation to be concise than verbose (I think the Prince of Preachers, Charles Spurgeon, told his students this). If we do get too long, it would be good to add or start with a brief point form summary with the gist and add meat to the skeleton for those who want it.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this study, I'll be focusing on Daniel and his picture of the resurrection and its connection with Yeshua (Jesus).

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
