To make a long story short, "atomic" clocks measure time by monitoring the resonant frequency of atoms. As far as timepieces go, they're the most accurate.

Other clocking systems lose seconds here and there (that adds up), but atomic clocks don't.

Lol…yes. Areal atomic clock is very expensive. Even cheaper ones. Then there is a radio signal clock that is not actually an atomic clock.

Do tell. Atomic?

Atomic time is much more accurate. The solar system has wobbles, so the time is not that accurate, they have to adjust the time two or three seconds every 10 years.

You can buy atomic clocks on Amazon. The government sends out a signal that the clocks receive, and they adjust themselves. Just like the time adjusts itself on our phone, watch, computer & alexa.

When I was in grade school, it took a lot of effort to get a clock or watch to be accurate within two or three minutes. You could set your watch by the TV. The programs started right on time at the hour.

My dad always kept his watch very accurate. If you did not adjust the watch, they would be five or seven minutes off. At school the janitor adjusted the every clock in every room every day so they were accurate and on time.

Those are not atomic clocks, as noted earlier.

I've have an old school clock in my shop for many years. Tonight I had to change the time.It is easy in the fall, just unplug it for exactly one hour, then plug it back in. In the spring it is more hassle. I have to unplug it for twenty three hours and remember to re plug it on time. School clocks have no way, no individual dial,  to set them. It is done automatically.

"They are connected to a system that keeps them synchronized with an atomic clock. They were an expensive replacement to just individual clocks set by janitors and teachers. There is no reason to change them…everyone knows how to read digital time. We introduced the concept of time and different tools to measure it in kindergarten. We taught ON THE HOUR TIME. First grade delved into it more deeply AM and PM and the 60 minute scale. Reading an analog clock is a life skill that has not disappeared from the planet"

That is why all my clocks in my shop are analog, easy to read at a distance.
And school clocks all ave a large readable face.

It seems like the majority here do not like the time changes.  What are the reasons against it?

Just as I already explained that they are called atomic clocks on Amazon because they receive a signal from an atomic clock so they keep atomic time. To the second. Like I said, your phone, Alexa and computer are also "atomic" time because they are connected to an atomic clock to keep them accurate.

I understand your sentiment, though. It really bothers me that our cell phone has a "video" camera in it. Video is a tape that replaced film used for movies and music. You are upset because THEY call a clock atomic because it receives a signal from an atomic clock. What is the association with "video"? Better to use motion or movies. Even if they are digital rather than video or film. Even then, they do not actually move. They give you 60 frames per second, so they have the appearance of motion.

If you want to start splitting hairs over the English language we are going to be here for a while. It is poetic but not very accurate. It is really a universal language made up of a lot of other languages. With no real attempt to keep things accurate. At least not by your generation. But as I constantly say, people can only accuse us of what they are guilty of.

I simply made an accurate statement. They are not atomic clocks.

Advertisers say all kinds of things.

My statement was as truthful and accurate as an atomic clocks portrayal of time measurement…or rather the relative incremental forward motion of concatenated events.

lol

My, aren’t we having fun.

A day is 23 hours and 56 minutes. The reason for the nearly 4-minute difference between a sidereal day and a solar day is that in one day, the Earth travels about 1.5 million miles along its orbit. So it takes an extra 4 minutes of rotation to bring us back in line with the sun as compared with the day before. The Bible tells us there will be a perfect day. As the earth is slowing down in it's rotation.
I wonder if a 360 day year would give us a perfect 24 hour day?  Because there are 360 degrees in a circle.

Did you get an A in English Grammar?  I started another thread about how engineers are known not to have a firm grasp on the English Language. That may be why new technology is difficult for some people to learn how to use. I have a smartwatch now that I use to make sure I get adequate oxygen when I am sleeping. It is amazing we can fit a computer into a watch like that. The old joke used to be, give me five minutes in a back alley with an engineer and I can fix a lot of the problems in this world.

There are actually 5 sensors on the watch I have. It also gives me a fairly accurate EKG reading if I want it to. It tells me when to sleep more and when to slow down my breathing rate for less stress and anxiety. All in a watch. That is about a year old with some cosmetic damage so they sell for around $110 in this condition.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
