I do not think we ever lose our free will. Although there is talk about the irresistible will of God.

As for myself, I let the teaching of the apostle answer this question.

This is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you, that God is Light, and in Him there is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth; but if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous, so that He will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar and His word is not in us. (1 John 1:5-10 NASB)

Remember that following the outpouring of the Spirit on the day of Pentecost when the Lord sent Himself to us all, Peter was in error; not once, but more than once. Error is sin, so let no one deceive you nor anyone else in this regard. Men and women repent of their words and deeds for we are not God who is perfect.

We may find ourselves in error and when we do, we heed the Lord who is our Teacher and Counselor. If we were perfect ourselves, what need would we have to be conformed to the image of the Son of God from glory to glory? Why would we need the Lord to teach us? There's an error going around which preaches that walking uprightly means we never stumble nor commit error, but this isn't true. This error of antiquity insists that the Spirit of God doesn't dwell with us because we messed up.

That's not what the apostle of Jesus Christ teaches according to the scripture above. When we walk in the Light of the world (our Lord Jesus Christ), we are always accountable to Him. The Lord corrects us if we stray, and we cling to Him. That's the truth of the matter in my estimation. :)

By no means.

16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. 17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. (Ga 5:16–17)

14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. (Ro 8:13–14). .

Man was made tripartite - spirit, soul and body (Gen.2:7, 1st Thess.5:23). At the moment when a man believes Who Jesus is, what He has done and confesses it out aloud, the Holy Spirit comes into the man's spirit (Jn.3:6). The body and soul do not undergo any change except the soul might register the moment with joy - an emotion. In Romans Chapter 7, Paul establishes that the flesh is a lost cause. It not only is an enemy of God, but it has a Law dwelling inside it which leads you on to sin and death. The verse above testify of an epic battle that never ends until death.

This battle is for the soul. The born again Christian now has the very Triune God dwelling in his human spirit, and this God makes demands according to His divine nature. The flesh has been screaming for satisfaction since that moment of birth when it drew its first breath. And caught in the middle is the soul with its ability to decide. The trouble is, up until the moment of rebirth, the soul has been trained to pander to the flesh. And so the war begins at rebirth - spirit versus flesh with the soul caught in the middle. But God is prepared for this battle. The newborn Christian changes very slowly, but God creates a climate of change. And slowly, over years, the believer learns to tap into his spirit - for in it is another Law: The Law of Life in Christ Jesus (Rom.8:2)

The catalyst is self denial. God commands something and the flesh rears up. The baby Christian is all but overwhelmed. But with time and a good diet of the Word of God, the Christian starts to mature and gains a few victories. The Lord adds circumstances and a bit of chastening, and the Christian is forced one of two ways. He can rebel, or he can put his flesh to death on HIS cross. If the Christian is slow to cooperate with God, and he is rebellious, the Lord is both patient and ALL-mighty. He does not interfere with free will, but He plugs away at the sinning Christian. If the Christian is not mature by the time he dies, God has a judgment seat and a sentence that affects the next thousand years. But maturity is guaranteed.

Sin is an issue of the flesh. When death comes, sin stops. When resurrection comes, life without sin comes.

So when the apostles were filled with the holy spirit, they learned languages and became capable of performing miracles but were still stained with sin and actually continued to sin, right?

Absolutely not!!!

No one saved or lost is EVER sinless.  Christians should strive very hard to be, and we have no excuse.  But sinless perfection is a lie.

Let's hear from the apostles, themselves:

  • John, the Apostle =  "If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us” 1 John 1:8
  • Paul, the Apostle = "I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. And if I do what I do not want to do..."  Romans 7:15

Christians are definitely under grace, but in this world - still struggle.

1 John 1:8 (KJV)

[8] If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

[9] If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

[10] If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

This is evidently by the verbiage a reality till we die...

One more reality within this thought:
Because all that is created and all works shall be burnt up... Peter says this:
2 Peter 3:11 (KJV)

[11] Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,

indeed, shouldn't we only consider the everlasting...?.... After all~ it is all God is keeping!  I guess we could fill ourselves with the temporary but when the everlasting comes what part will we have in it?

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
