And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account. Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

- Hebrews 4:13-16

Jesus is the Son of God.

(Not only that, the Son of God is God.).  Awesome, right?

Exactly, and why we see in Mark, (back on the boat) we see after Jesus calmed the sea they were exceedingly fearful. they ask what manner of man is this?

probably familiar with the psalms who rules over the raging sea

Psalm 89:9

You rule over the surging sea;
when its waves mount up, you still them.

Psalm 107:29

Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble,
and he brought them out of their distress.

  He stilled the storm to a whisper;
the waves of the sea[b] were hushed.

Where are the sons of God today???

John 14:

12 “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father. 13 And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.

15 If you love Me, keep My commandments. 16 And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever— 17 the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. 18 I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.

Romans 8:

14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. 15 For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.” 16 The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, 17 and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.

18 For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. 19 For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God.

I don't  believe Jesus was a god-man for that would nullify the ransom. Jesus had to be the equivalent of the first man Adam.

I think that with Jesus' favorite phrase, "Son of man," he is referring to Daniel 7:13,14, which says, “I saw in the night visions, and behold, with the clouds of heaven there came one like a son of man, and he came to the Ancient of Days and was presented before him. And to him was given dominion and glory and a kingdom, that all peoples, nations, and languages should serve him; his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom one that shall not be destroyed" (ESV--italics are mine).

Notice that the nations worship that same "son of man." Obviously, he is divine along with the "Ancient of Days," who is the Father, all after Jesus' ascension into heaven.

With that phrase, Jesus is claiming to be God, but a major theme in the gospels is the hidden Messiah, especially in the Gospel of Mark. He wants to be hidden from the people until it was time for the crucifixion.

@Mr. M  I have looked through this thread a bit and I have a question.  Is Jesus among those we consider as having deity?   I don't use the word god for it has way too many meanings in Hebrew and Greek.    Is Jesus a mortal man, or is he a member of the triune Godhead?

I think Jesus is both a mortal man and a member of the triune Godhead at the same time.

Agreed, keeping in mind that Jesus was Yahweh before he lowered himself to become that mortal man...  I would say that in my opinion, he kept the spirit part of him from Yahweh, though.

The title 'The Son of God' expresses the relation of the Son to the Father (Matt. 1:20, Luke 1:31,35).  The relationship expressed in title, 'The Son of Man' relates to dominion in the earth.

As 'The Son of God', Christ is 'the heir of all things' (Heb. 1:2), and is invested with 'all power', being 'The Resurrection and The Life' (John 11:25), having power to raise the dead (John 5:25). As, 'The Son of Man' (Psalm 8:4), all judgment is committed to Him (John 5:27) in the earth.

Adam, the first man, was given dominion over the works of the Creator (Gen. 1:26).  This dominion was lost, and is now in abeyance until He shall come Whose right it is to rule in the earth (Ezek. 21:27).  'The Son of Man', to Whom all dominion  in the earth has been given, shall take unto Him His great power and reign.  He, Who is heir of all things, has humbled Himself, and submitted to death upon the cross (Heb. 2:8,9), but one day all things will be put under His feet.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this study, I'll be focusing on Daniel and his picture of the resurrection and its connection with Yeshua (Jesus).

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
