I hope everyone is making it through this first artic blast warm and comfy. The forecasters were not kidding about this event. At 8 P.M. yesterday, it hit here in N.W. Tennessee with high winds and flash freezing. The power went off briefly, and it was time to light the kerosine heater and turn on lanterns and chemical lights. Then the power came back on, praise the Lord.

At 5 A.M. this morning -3° F. very breezy, and about 2” of sleet, ice, and snow. How is it where you are?

About 21 below freezing here and my heater is having issues. Fortunately I have a lot of blankets and a nice warm cat with me.

our high today in MA is near 60 and it's raining and blowing like crazy. Tonight it's supposed to freeze hard and stay frozen for who knows how long. Yikes!

-3 in Tennessee??? I guess it helps to be near the ocean :noidea:

In southern Michigan, they forecasted 8-15, then 7-8, then 2-4. Right now supposed to snow through Saturday, but light snow. Temps around zero with 25 mph wind, so wind chill is significant.

My kids in Lexington KY have colder temps then we have here with more ice and snow than we have. So it appears that the south has more issues then we do up north.

In the last week here in the UK, we were down to -5 couldn’t stand it,I was miserable every day, I have heating, it just wasn’t adequate enough, most of the time I was in my thick jacket, with a water bottle inside my jacket, I am on a high dose of blood thinners, which doesn’t help..🥶

Thank God it’s been pretty mild these past few days.💗🙏

Rosie--I did not realize you lived in the UK--how did I miss that all this time.

The low arctic airstream seems to be the problem. There is usually  enough warm air south in the US to keep the cold air from going south. This week everything changed.

We have had some freak weather for Dec. Tonight mainly. We go from the 50'sF to 10F overnight.  Lots of rain and very wet now. Yesterday there was a 20 car pile up on the road I take. My wife persuaded me not to go in. I could get there and not be able to return home due to ice. I'll drive in lots of things but ice isn't one of them.
