Whats on the dinner plate? I recognize an olive and stuffed grape leaves. And the red meat. The rest has me a bit baffled.

Lets make the folks that enjoy the holiday season feel bad. Sounds like fun.

No... let's make people aware of somethings they might not have thought about (or were ever informed of).

Even some of the cults see that Christ Mass is not biblical.

There is no evidence Jesus was born on December 25th. In fact, the shepherds being in the fields at night with their flocks would be prohibitive in December from the cold and rain. And  John 1:14 in the Greek states that the Word [tabernacled] among us... strongly suggesting he was born during the feast of Tabernacles.

Roman Catholicism fancied date setting for canonized saints to the point it ran out of days in the year and had to make an all saint's day (prompting all hallow's evening or Halloween). They also changed a perverted pagan feast around winter solstice called Saturnalia to the Mass of Christ (commemorating his birth). And as it typical with Roman Catholic tradition making / religion building they incorporated several aspects of the very paganism hey were "doing away with" like the yule log (Nimrod origin) and the cutting and dressing of trees (Druid tree worship) and mistletoe myth (nod to the sexual misconduct that ordinarily took place during Saturnalia).

At first blush it would seem to be a good thing replacing the orgy ridden feast with a Christian holiday to celebrate Jesus' birth...

But then, what is good about attaching untruth to Truth personified. Jesus is the Truth (John 14:6).

Jesus did say in the midst of Passover Seder observance to remember his death till he returns. He said nothing about celebrating his birth.

What if Jesus is insulted by being misrepresented in this way?

Should we just let people the world over (Christians and non Christians) just blissfully, ignorantly go about celebrating eggnog season and gift getting and obligatory card and gift giving and somewhere in there say or sing that it's about the Savior of all mankind?

Sure... let's not both the family speeding headlong towards the bridge out ahead, they are so happy after all... signing road trip songs...

♪ I'm squashing up the baby bumble bee won't my mamma be so proud of me, I'm squashing up the ---♫ MOM DAD THE BRIDGE IS GONNNNNNNNNE....

CRASH! ... no survivors...

Ah, but they were so happy until the very end.

And another thing, most everyone I know that has studied the matter thinks Jesus was born in September....     so why do I have to celebrate his birthday when it's 8º F outside.

My pastor still thinks it is around Dec. 25th and he has studied the whole shlemiel, star alignment, Herod's facts as well.  He has it a few years earlier but came back to Dec. as the date.

As far as the cold, we warmed from 3 degrees Fahrenheit to 20 due to freezing rain.  So celebrate, give thanks for Him and it will warm the cockles of you heart!

We have here banitsa (which is usually eaten with Greek yoghurt )

Banitsa is a traditional pastry dish made in Bulgaria, North Macedonia and Southeastern Serbia, prepared by layering a mixture of whisked eggs, natural yogurt and pieces of white brined cheese between filo pastry and then baking it in an oven.

Wikipedia

Egg salad,  a chicken dish with peppers, the ham is eaten with a nice hone made mustard sauce, a ciabatta, olives and gurkins, chorizo, prosciutto,  red beat, a kind of fritata, rice with mixed vegetable, asparagus with roasted almonds and as you said stuffed vine leaves. In Greece they are called dolmades in Bulgaria they are called Sarma.

My aunt us Bulgarian and a vegetarian hence the many vegetarian friendly dishes and East European food . Fantastic food. A real feast.
