He that eateth, eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and he that eateth not, to the Lord he eateth not, and giveth God thanks. No Christian I know of worships pagan gods on Christmas. We all do it unto our God and Savior Jesus. If you do not want to do that, that is your business. Sounds like fun. No... let's make people aware of somethings they might not have thought about (or were ever informed of). Even some of the cults see that Christ Mass is not biblical. There is no evidence Jesus was born on December 25th. In fact, the shepherds being in the fields at night with their flocks would be prohibitive in December from the cold and rain. And John 1:14 in the Greek states that the Word [tabernacled] among us... strongly suggesting he was born during the feast of Tabernacles. Roman Catholicism fancied date setting for canonized saints to the point it ran out of days in the year and had to make an all saint's day (prompting all hallow's evening or Halloween). They also changed a perverted pagan feast around winter solstice called Saturnalia to the Mass of Christ (commemorating his birth). And as it typical with Roman Catholic tradition making / religion building they incorporated several aspects of the very paganism hey were "doing away with" like the yule log (Nimrod origin) and the cutting and dressing of trees (Druid tree worship) and mistletoe myth (nod to the sexual misconduct that ordinarily took place during Saturnalia). At first blush it would seem to be a good thing replacing the orgy ridden feast with a Christian holiday to celebrate Jesus' birth... But then, what is good about attaching untruth to Truth personified. Jesus is the Truth (John 14:6). Jesus did say in the midst of Passover Seder observance to remember his death till he returns. He said nothing about celebrating his birth. What if Jesus is insulted by being misrepresented in this way? Should we just let people the world over (Christians and non Christians) just blissfully, ignorantly go about celebrating eggnog season and gift getting and obligatory card and gift giving and somewhere in there say or sing that it's about the Savior of all mankind? CRASH! ... no survivors... Ah, but they were so happy until the very end. I was going to avoid this debate but heck with it I'll answer your question. Should we let people enjoy Christmas, which is pretty much the short version of what you asked once you filter out all your pagan arguments. The answer is absolutely yes. Now, I'm not saying your arguments are wrong. Their not, a lot of Christmas traditions are indeed pagan. And no we don't know for certain when Jesus was born. Both completely true arguments. But, on the counter...most of those pagan religions no longer even exist. And you know what else.... church attendance is off the charts on Christmas Eve. It's literally getting people in the church doors, hearing about Christs birth. On top of that you'd be surprised at how much giving their is during Christmas season. If sharing eggnog with someone under the Christmas tree plants a seed I'll gladly do it. Furthermore....theirs nothing in the Bible that says we shouldn't give gifts and enjoy eggnog.... If you don't want to celebrate it, that's your choice. Your not hurting me any, on the same notion me celebrating Christs birth isn't hurting you. I can't think of a time I'd like to celebrate more then Christs birth other then His death and resurrection, personally, and I'm going to continue to celebrate it no matter what you or anyone else says about it, because you know what? MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!! 3 1 1

My pastor still thinks it is around Dec. 25th and he has studied the whole shlemiel, star alignment, Herod's facts as well. He has it a few years earlier but came back to Dec. as the date. As far as the cold, we warmed from 3 degrees Fahrenheit to 20 due to freezing rain. So celebrate, give thanks for Him and it will warm the cockles of you heart! 1
