The Devil doesn't give up easily once he has claimed someone.

But the poser of Christ will always prevail if you keep your focus on it.

I have a tattoo, I am not ashamed of it ..I also agree that it makes a statement of freedom in Christ. .. We got a lot of folks inked in our Church. Myself, the Pastor, his daughter and grand daughter included. Now, even my wife"

Just curious, who is this "FHII said:" person who says 75% of the congregation have tattoos. I could not find their post on this topic in your thread. I personally cannot think of anyone in our church that I have seen with tats. 0%, except a visitor, and wondered about 'FHII' statement, looking for what they have said, that you quoted, and did not find it. 75% of the members with tats seems grosely  exaggerated.

Thanks farouk...

I agree,it's permanent scarring deep past the epidermis and into the dermis( or should be!) So I do think these type of" permanent" decisions should be considered carefully.

Had I been so interested in learning the "art" myself back when I simply & spontaneously got my first tattoo Im sure I would not have an unrecognizable blob of ink on my shoulder blade today....too bad youth is wasted on the young, lol

@kwikphilly

Yes, it's a skill, an art, for a professional to be able to use a tattoo machine correctly, like you say.

The ink must be shot in at exactly the right level. Not too shallow. Not too deep.

(Experienced tattoo artists call inexperienced artists 'scratchers' because they don't go into the correct level of the skin.)

Going for the dermis, like you say.

Even though ppl have it done so overwhelmingly widely now, there's still a difference between those artists who do it properly and those who don't; one wonders whether some of those who have indeed been so keen and comfortable with the idea of going to the parlor have actually chosen an experienced artist and have had the dermis shot with ink pumpings carefully and correctly:

Well, haven't been following this thread.  I had heard some time ago that the OT had laws against tattooing skin.  I don't know if the same principle holds now or not.

Addictions, otoh, are usually (or definitely) bad things.  Having an addiction indicates being controlled by something, whether a chemical, an idea or an action.

I find it interesting hearing testimonies of people coming to faith.  Some say their addictions went away right away, and others say they continued to struggle with them for years after.  I don't know what to make of it.

Hi Brother --- isn't it something how different people will have different testimonies and different struggles for different lengths of time yet all on the same path with God in Christ and with the Helper!!!It just shows us how fearfully & wonderful Made each of us are in a very unique way, doesn't it?

Our personalities are exclusively our own and that's where we struggle, truly it is the flesh, our will & emotions are what must decrease as we Grow in our Relationship with God in Christ- one can be at a place of complete submission and surrender and instantaneously Receive the Freedom of Deliverance or( be like myself) reluctant to completely"let go" of all self and therefore no less Indwelled but greatly hindering that Same Power of Holy Spirit (no more,no less) that each of us have in us. Taking many years to break shackles & chains! Praise Jesus!

I don't know what to make of many things ! Lol- So Incredible our God IS ....so Patient & Long Suffering,oh to be more like Him!

And still Brother,I do not really feel one way or the other about people having tattoos-Christians and unbelievers as well.I don't feel one way or the other about women that wear their hair short or men who wear it long.Lots of make-up and dripping in jewelry or no make up at all is all the same to me- I do have personal preferences but I don't think it my business what others want to look like-I do care about what others want to BE like and I'm sure that's what God Cares about- everyone can BE Christlike ....Love One Another, let's strive to look like:Jesus and in Him that's what people will see- LOVE!❤️

@kwikphilly And I guess my last post was really about how to get tattooed (properly).

Your last post here is about whether to get tattooed......

Hi @kwikphilly

Re. struggles specifically about getting tattooed, like you say, some ppl do indeed struggle with it.

Others don't seem to struggle with it at all, but simply seem to go into the tattoo parlor and have it done wholeheartedly.

..shortly after getting my tattoo done .. the dentist ask me about it - it opened up a conversation that would not have come about at all..I honestly felt OK about getting the tattoo in the first place.( I had weighed everything up , talked to my pastor, reflected on scripture ) The conversation surprised me, and it did serve as an encouragment at the time. I have had quite a few conversations at work when people notice it.

I saw a quote about just how prevalent it is in the Bible Belt; and those who work in tattoo parlors may well be tattooing clients of the most conservative of outlooks; I think there is plenty of evidence of this, right?

Hi @bropro Even going into the tattoo parlor for a faith based tattoo certainly keeps one accountable, right? :)

I would think that the accountability issue should be settled before one enters the tattoo parlor.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

      Shalom everyone,

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
