1 Kings 13:7-9 (NKJV) - 7 Then the king said to the man of God, "Come home with me and refresh yourself, and I will give you a reward." 8 But the man of God said to the king, "If you were to give me half your house, I would not go in with you; nor would I eat bread nor drink water in this place. 9 FOR SO IT WAS COMMANDED ME BY THE WORD OF THE LORD, SAYING, 'YOU SHALL NOT EAT BREAD, NOR DRINK WATER, NOR RETURN BY THE SAME WAY YOU CAME.' "

1 Kings 13:11 (NKJV) - Now an old prophet dwelt in Bethel, and his sons came and told him all the works that the man of God had done that day in Bethel; they also told their father THE WORDS WHICH HE HAD SPOKEN TO THE KING.

The man of God shared too much information. Mixing the mundane with work.

The man of God was killed, because of "DISOBEDIANCE".  He disobeyed the word of the Lord.

Surely kenny2112, you have read the whole chapter in full.  Plus the man of God was sent there on assignment by THE LORD.

1 Kings 13. 1 And behold, a man of God came out of Judah by the word of the Lord to Bethel.

1 Kings 13   English Standard Version

26 And when the prophet who had brought him back from the way heard of it, he said, “It is the man of God who disobeyed the word of the Lord; therefore the Lord has given him to the lion, which has torn him and killed him, according to the word that the Lord spoke to him.”

The older prophet knew of the movements of the man of God from Judah because his sons told him what they heard the man of God tell the king.

You are still in denial of the fact, the reason the man of God was killed, was of his disobedience of the Lord told him not to do.  Does not matter what the older prophet knew, the man of God died because he went away from what God told him not to do.

I showed you in scripture black and white. Come on, this is very obvious. Why are you still defending the idea, that a prophet should not reveal himself.

The Lord is the Lord of host, he can send his prophets in any place he chooses and no one can touch them if he does not want them to be harmed.

I know he was killed because of his disobedience but the older prophet wouldn't have known his whereabouts if his sons hadn't told their father what they heard the man of God tell the king.

Ok. So you see why the man of God was killed.  The man of God telling the king what the Lord commanded him not to do was not a sin.  You fail to see, that the moral of that situation was, the man of God, did not obey the Lord commandments. It has nothing to do what the other prophet sons overheard.

The Lord can and does allow trials to his servants, even us here, so , this may have been a test for the man of God and he did not stand steadfast on the word of God and paid the consequence.  Really hope you see that.  Thanks for the talk.

The events that led to his disobedience to the Word of the Lord wouldn't have happened if he hadn't shared that information with the king, which the sons of the older prophet heard and told their father.

If the man of God had just said that he didn't want food, without telling the king "For so it was commanded me by the word of the Lord, saying, 'You shall not eat bread, nor drink water, nor return by the same way you came.' ", the sons of the older prophet wouldn't have heard that to tell their father. Sharing of this info led to the subsequent events that led to his death.

I'm not saying that telling the king what the Lord commanded not to do was a sin, I'm saying it was unwise. It was a precursor to following events.

Concerning modern prophets...the subject of our discussion...I suggest reading it all prior to discussion. 3 Parts...hope this is of assistance to you my brothers and sisters.

This is in brief focusing only on the subject matter we are discussion…I understand that I am presenting a kingdom of God truth to 5 of 10 virgins here…so to speak. I am not looking for anyone’s acceptance…nor am I looking for a mindless argument. I am looking for brothers and sisters who can bring and receive fresh revelation…fresh manna if you will to/from the “table.”

This topic has had so much spoken to it…what I present to you here is not new…not everyone will agree…I did not cross the lines of the scriptural authority…of the Holy Spirit.

Those who teach or preach that there are no longer [from the out pouring of the Holy Spirit on Pentecost up to today] any prophets or apostles…are they themselves deceived on the matter. The truth they have not accepted “is not” an issue with prophets or apostles themselves but…their deception resides in the fact that they do not recognize the “Lordship of Yahshua Christ”…all manner of deception comes from this deficit in many…let me explain.

At present…the Body of Christ is still on the earth…many refer to it as the church…as long as the “Body of Christ” is on the earth…there will be apostles, prophets, evangelists, shepherds and teachers. There is no need to argue this truth…why? Simply put…Paul tells us that the “Word of God” has declared it as so…we can see this in 1 Corinthians 12:27-28 where we read…

“Now you are Christ's body, and individually members of it. And God has appointed in the church, first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, administrations, various kinds of tongues.”

Here plainly and clearly Paul is stating that God has selected people to walk in these manifestations or graces that were given by the Lord to His Body…personally…He is the head remember?

Paul again in Ephesians 2 restates the matter when he is teaching the Body of Christ that they are the “House of God”…additionally Paul speaks of this house as being built…or growing…or being built together…as the holy temple of God to house the dwelling of Spirit of God…this yet continues.

“So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints, and are of God's household, having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus Himself being the corner stone, in whom the whole building, being fitted together, is growing into a holy temple in the Lord, in whom you also are being built together into a dwelling of God in the Spirit.” (Eph 2:19-22 NASB)

The 12 initial apostles were used to establish the foundation for the House of God on the earth…so the foundation is in…we do not need any new scripture to understand that…or to work from. Interestingly Paul includes “prophets” as a part of that foundation along with apostles…so they too are in view here in the “foundational” stage of the temple of God which has come to earth as it is in heaven.

I will not go into too much detail here…however…it should be seen that they have a very specific function in the temple of God…and it is not to write new scripture…currently both apostles and prophets serve uniquely…prophets in the House of God will speak of things to come just as Agabus did concerning the famine for example. Prophets will remind us of prophecies from antiquity that are now coming into view in our day…and guide our perspectives about it.

When the timing of a prophetic event has come to fulfillment today…it will be unpacked and  brought forth by the apostolic…think Peter referring to Joel’s ancient prophecy about the outpouring of the Holy Spirit on that Pentecost following the Lord’s resurrection for example…Peter said…”this is that.”

Pt.2

Now moving on to what is probably the most significant measure of the scriptural text concerning the “Body of Christ” and the relevance of the graces or gifts of “apostles, prophets, evangelist, shepherds and teachers.” This is where things become clearer for the “Sons of God” who never reject the gifts and graces of the Lord.

In Ephesians 4 you have an apostle (Paul) who was given instructions about how the kingdom of God has come to the gentile nations. I will interleave some basic understanding in the text below…have a look it is quite exciting.

“Therefore I, the prisoner of the Lord, implore you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling with which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, showing tolerance for one another in love, being diligent to preserve the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

Paul the apostle reminds…“us”…remember his work is “foundational” to the kingdom of God on the earth…that we are to walk in our specific call in a worthy manner…in other words spiritually maturing as we obey the Father who raises us in His house for “His purpose and inheritance” read Ephesians 1 for reference.

There is one body and one Spirit, just as also you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all who is over all and through all and in all. But to each one of us grace was given according to the measure of Christ's gift.

Here quite pointedly the “NT apostle” lays down the foundational and qualifying attributes of life “in and as” the temple of God on the earth. He overwhelmingly goes over the top to express the “oneness or unity” of “God and the whole Body of Christ” here on the earth.

ONE…body, Spirit, call, Lord, faith, baptism, God, Father…just 1! It is from this “One Lord” that each “ONE” of His children receives grace in the form of Christ’s gift.

Therefore it says, "WHEN HE ASCENDED ON HIGH, HE LED CAPTIVE A HOST OF CAPTIVES, AND HE GAVE GIFTS TO MEN." (Now this expression, "He ascended," what does it mean except that He also had descended into the lower parts of the earth? He who descended is Himself also He who ascended far above all the heavens, so that He might fill all things.)

This is a very simple description of the crucified Lord…His glorious resurrection and ascension…of that there can be no doubt…Paul is intentionally being very clear about who the Lord is and what He has done and is yet doing. Primarily he is showing us that the Lord Yahshua Christ is God…who “fills all things.” He has been given all authority in the heavens and on the earth…and He is not limited to the “created heavens”…no…He has all the authority and power of the throne of God…eternally.

So what Paul is preparing to “reveal” again…is an undeniable truth that has come from the “eternal throne of God”…he is qualifying his next statements as coming directly from the Lord Yahshua Himself…these are not issues that the Sons of God argue about…no…we understand that Paul’s words here are the revealed “Word Himself” moving through His body on the earth…and here they have been recorded as scripture.

And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers,

Again “He gave”…who is He? He is the one Lord, God and Father…who has dispensed these graces to His Body…never doubt that…this is a “gift” from on High…to us His children…His Body.

Next…Paul quite clearly lays out what these “graces or gifts” are doing among the body of Christ day to day…including today. Herein lies the answer to “what is a NT prophet, what does a NT prophet do, where are the NT prophets today etc…

for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ; until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God,

Here Paul is laying out the essential work and effect of these 5 gifts among the “living Body of Christ” as they “grow.” Equipping, works of service, building up, unity of the faith, knowledge of the Son of God…the body of Christ is comprised of the “Sons of God” on the earth…whom are growing and maturing in their call. These are essentials in the kingdom of our God on earth…they are required to build the temple of God…without them…something other than the “kingdom of God” is being constructed…by something other than the Lord Yahshua Christ.

On to the final part...3

Pt. 3

That is why there is so much division among the religious church…most have disregarded the gift or grace of the Lord Himself…attributes of who He is, which include apostle and prophet…as having ended or unnecessary…they do this with no scriptural nor spiritual Word or authority from God…to their demise and to the demise of their followers I must add…they don’t realize this of course…the deceived never realize that they are deceived…however Paul’s next revelation brings a bright light to the absolute necessity for all 5 of the gifts from the Lord bestowed upon His kingdom at His ascension. We read…

"to a mature man, to the measure of the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ. As a result, we are no longer to be children, tossed here and there by waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, by craftiness in deceitful scheming;"

“We are no longer to be children”…ok? This is where the rubber meets the road…to be cliché…The “equipping, works of service, building up, unity of the faith, knowledge of the Son of God” from the above passage…is to be brought to maturity…a mature “man” and not just any “mature man”…Paul specifies the “measure of the stature” that is nothing less that the “fullness of Christ” Himself.

Again in the light of the context of the scripture…you have all 5 gifts or graces involved in the process of maturing the Body of Christ to the “fullness of Christ”…in other words this “Body” is to “mature and grow up”…and that means it will become directly proportional to its Head! This is not yet complete…however as the end of this age rapidly approaches…the Lord is bringing His Sons to a full maturity as Paul states in Romans 8…creation eagerly waits for the revelation of the sons of God.”

I am long warn out by the false doctrine that states that I was “saved merely to go to heaven” at the end of my life or in some secret rapture…it must be understood that salvation is a change of fathers…it is the changing of household or family in which we live and are raised…to a mature man…here on earth.

Saved out of the darkness and from the father of lies by being brought into the Kingdom of my Father and into life by my spiritual Father.

It is here and only here…”the place the Lord went and prepared for me in my Father’s house”…while alive in my flesh on this earth that I am loved beyond reason…cared for so gently…inspired in the depths of my inner man…moment by moment encountering the living God as Father, savior, and the Lord of Glory…encouraged and empowered to overcome my own failure…and in this…I continually become more and more like my Father, God and Savior…none other than the King of kings and Lord of lords…Yahshua Christ.

Ok…so moving on…we are going to get a little more clarity as to why and what the “living apostles and prophets” are actually doing in the earth today amongst the Body of Christ…as you read this.

but speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in all aspects into Him who is the head, even Christ, from whom the whole body, being fitted and held together by what every joint supplies, according to the proper working of each individual part, causes the growth of the body for the building up of itself in love.(Eph 4:1-16 NASB)

Apostles and prophets along with the other 3 graces of Christ are all necessary and active in the growth and maturity of the Body of Christ…by assisting the sons of God in understanding and embracing their unique “call” or “individual part” of the Body. They work in families…many of them live in a family…some are itinerate. This is how Christians mature…how the Body is built up…how they find that unique life that they were created and saved to fulfill.

I know the church is not interested in this and most of them reject this teaching due to their complete immaturity which is expressed via their own pride and arrogance…leading them to a total deception that they never imagine could happen. Just look at the modern church…full of the religious infants and orphans led by the same…who are masquerading as anointed leadership…all the while perpetuating a gospel that has the essential graces of apostle and prophet as irrelevant and unnecessary…so they can rule.

These modern day Pharisee’s and false priests have no actual scriptural or spiritual authority for the stripping away of the foundational graces…apostles and prophets other than it simply allows them to continue the charade that benefits them in many ways…because the Christ authenticated and empowered manifestation of apostle and prophet have been excluded from their work…thereby nullifying them as evangelists, pastors, teachers and elders.

Those who attempt to build the kingdom of God without the 5 graces or gifts of Christ Yahshua…are shutting off the kingdom of heaven from people; and they do not enter in themselves, nor do you allow those who are entering to go in.

Do not be deceived…there is a very specific and important purpose for the "Sons of God" to soon be revealed in the earth...it has to do with the "Man" in the image and likeness of God bringing the age to a close.

Wow...so many days with no response...did I help answer the question about the modern prophet?

Did I paint a scriptural picture that you folks have not seen? The silence is stunning...do any care to continue the journey?

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
