Apocalyptophobia -"a dislike or aversion to the apocalypse". Apocalyptomania -"an excessive enthusiasm or excitement for the apocalypse". I held office in the local Church of the Nazarene from 2010 to 2015 and during that time I observed very little mention of the Apocalypse. When a former pastor of this assembly came back from Australia for a visit I mentioned to him that no-one seemed to have any enthusiasm for things apocalyptic. His response was that as a denomination they felt there was too much emphasis on the Apocalypse, and that some denominations and movements were obsessed with it, something that was discouraged within the Church of the Nazarene. It further transpired that he didn't preach from the Book of Revelation. So according to the evidence, some are apocalyptophiles, some are apocalyptophobes, and some are apocalyptomaniacs. The internet is buzzing with beliefs about the beasts and the battle to come. But is there actually too much emphasis on the apocalypse in some quarters? "In some quarters"..... yes. We should be about teaching/preaching the book of Revelation along with other passages in the Bible about the end times..... .....however, "in some quarters" [internet forums], some people are far too obsessed with fighting about who the Antichrist will be, pre-mill, a-mill, or post-mill, and who the participants are in Revelation 12. These same people ... wouldn't walk across the street to witness to a lost neighbor. There is genuine Biblical interest and then there is an obsession with is who right about things we won't know until the time comes.

If it's fear-based, then yes. I've seen two different scenarios that are harmful to the body of Christ. 1st ... an escapism mentality that cripples what someone should be doing for the Kingdom. 2nd -- a fear-based mentality that sets up a bunker mentality. If it's trying to wake up an apathetic church that needs to realize the time is short ... it should be a motivating factor to reach souls for the Kingdom! So it depends on how it's presented and how it's received. 1 1

We have the word and it contains prophetic messages, which as students of the word, try to put heads together to come to an understand of the times ect., especially times like these. What is too much emphasis ?. If someone wants to learn about a subject that is complex, he has to spend the time for research, reviews, and the many books and literature that is written about it, especially when it is a unique subject . Each person has to know the limitations of his time and use it wisely.

Well, yes and no, people who do not understand Eschatology but force it forth anyway are just confusing the majority who do not seem to have a interest, probably because they do not like being confused. The no however is because those on earth during the 70th week need guidance. Thus, just like Jesu gave guidance to the Disciples before he died, and the Disciples guidance to the young Church, we are going to not be here for the 70th week, se we need to teach this, leave videos, tat show what is going to go down, etc. etc. Its not imperative that we know tbh, it is imperative who show those left on earth, that we served the one true God. Then leave then a life-line as in what is going to happen, where, when and how. When this comes to pass, it will help build their faith. Its not going to be easy to lay down ones life. The internet is buzzing with beliefs about the beasts and the battle to come. But is there actually too much emphasis on the apocalypse in some quarters? Shalom, Michael. Absolutely not! How can there EVER be too much emphasis on a book of the Bible? "Apokalupsis," which means "Uncovering," is also rendered "Revelation" (singular by the way, not plural!) If anything, there's too LITTLE emphasis placed upon God's Word. The actual title of the book is found in Revelation 1:1-2 ... Apokalupsis Ieesou Christou, heen edooken autoo ho Theos, deixai tois doulois autou, ha dei genesthai en tachei, kai eseemanen aposteilas dia tou aggelou autou too douloo autou Iooannee, hos emartureesen ton logon tou Theou kai teen marturian Ieesou Christou, hosa eiden. It means, An-uncovering of-Yeeshuwa` Messiah, which gave to-Him the God, to-show to-the slaves of-Him, what-things are-necessary to-take-place in haste, and he-marked-it having-sent-it through the messenger of-Him to-the slave of-Him Yochanan/John, who gave-testimony of-the Word of-the God and the witness of-Yeeshuwa` Messiah, as-much-as he-saw. Thus, the book passed through a chain of individuals: From God to Yeeshuwa` to His messenger to Yochanan to Yeeshuwa`s slaves (to those who first received the book and to us, as well).
