Is Horror Bad for Christians?

And since when is Godzilla considered horror? Of course I barely consider alien to be considered horror, but Godzilla, at least the classic Japanese films are more in line with what I would classify as a B monster movie.

 

Well I meant unseen forces that supernatural do not appeal to me, save Bird Box (The Original), the sequel Bird Box Barcelona was horrid, it violated the lore and even used rapture Christianity in a negative light. 
 

I suppose I go by Shin Godzilla when I think of it as horror. And the Original Gojira was meant to be horror playing on atomic fears.

I can't speak for anyone else and I can only share what I have experienced. Fear is not of God.. God has not give us the spirit of fear. Why would I play with a spirit that is not of God? Ever moment I am making some choice for the Father or the enemy to do something in my life. As the bother shared and its enough for me.

Finally, believers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable and worthy of respect, whatever is right and confirmed by God’s word, whatever is pure and wholesome, whatever is lovely and brings peace, whatever is admirable and of good repute; if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think continually on these things [center your mind on them, and implant them in your heart].

Its not hard for me but I can take any movie/TV  show and use Ph 4:8 to see how it measures so to speak. I love Syfy always have.. love the Stars blah blah blah. I can watch anything I want and then listen. Yeah God said nothing. There was time He did I didn't listen so now its not gone just He won't play games. I am only speaking for me. I am all in or not. There is no middle ground here. Anything that does not give my Father glory point to Christ. Why would I choose to do things the world does. So out there in some theater no one would know I believe in Jesus. I am told I am not of this world, this world is not my home. 

For me this is God talking. Well haha before I even came on the net I have been thing about what I am watching as in movies or some SyFy show/cartoon. There is no life in so much of this. For me there are many Godly shows networks that in some way point to Christ. So do what you want.. watch things that give your Father glory or watch things that never ever speak about Him and don't blink eye about. For me

Interesting, that “spirit of fear,” verse and “why would you play with it” is profound. I have much to ruminate on.

Going back to the opening post: May I suggest that  much of which  is presented as entertainment is an effort to desensitize each  of us towards accepting that which is debauchery at best, and immensely violent horror that occurs for real in the world.

Within every part of the world there is horror that should not become  themes for our personal entertainment. I suggest as example autopsies; when did an autopsy become entertaining?

That autopsies are now used as high entertainment  on TV and movies says what about  peoples acceptance of the morbid, along with desensitizing us to the profoundly  Satanic things that  do cause deaths  that are presented as entertainment and are used to spike up the presentation of an autopsy as  your personal evening entertainment?

Now that autopsies are common daily viewing entertainment material there is  the push to go  further, to lets show burned remains, lets show crushed and battered remains, human remains, and lets make it evening entertainment material for home viewing and theater joy to talk about at late dinner out at a restaurant. 

All is planned by evil and done IMO  toward the Satanic goal of desensitizing us all to just accepting the most bizarre and the most evil of behaviors as being just so what common place happenings. Unfortunately too many  also come to the point of imitating and practicing in real life those very evils.

Food for the mind is quite different than food for the belly as what goes into the brain  affects the mind.

Also, since the vast majority of the information input to the brain is visual and processed automatically at an unconscious level, it bypasses any discriminatory thought as it does so and the unconscious part of our mind accepts it as if it our own real life experience.  That makes it a part of us, a part of who and what we are without our awareness of it.

I have always felt something Satanic about the destruction of man for entertainment, it’s distorting, mutilating, and crushing the Image of God (Genesis 1:27-28), which I imagine delights the evil one since he hates God. 

There is also a tinge of nihilism to make horror work (in certain films anyway) since for you to be terrified by what is happening to people you aren’t focused on The LORD coming to the rescue or to intervene.
