Two major problems with drinking booze in any amount... we are called to avoid the appearance of evil (1 Thessalonians 5:22) so drinking booze damages one's testimony causing some to not want to listen to what you say about the Lord.

Let's not forget being friends with the world were we do what they do, makes one an enemy of God (James 4:4)

Second is our body is supposed to be the Temple of the Holy Spirit and since it's a proven fact thru years of scientific research that booze is harmful to our body... the Holy Spirit could not be leading anyone to do things that are harmful to the body.

Romans 12:1,2
I declare to you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your body a living sacrifice, Holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service....and be not conformed to this world (see James 4:4): but be transformed by the renewing of your mind (understanding, vision), that you may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

1 Corinthians 6:19, 20
Your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit which is in you, which you have of God, and you are not your own....for you are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

The Lord never instructs one to drink alcohol so, all things considered, drinking booze is sinful

a Christian really has no right to drink alcohol because they are supposed to have been bought with a price and belong to the Lord now.

But, hey... it's all about "once saved always saved" so drink up!

Paul does not seem to give the same advice.

You cannot prove Paul told anyone to drink fermented wine which is wine that contains alcohol.

You can speculate all you'd like, but nothing Paul says specifically proves He told Timothy to drink the booze.

But, as I understand it lots of folks search for ways to justify doing what they know deep down inside they should not be doing.  Lot's of that going around in these last days as we are living in the time of the falling away.

It's quite the sticky wicket... Maybe it isn't the substance as much as the intent?

This is an interesting question and one I've pondered a lot. Some street drugs work in the same general manner as certain psych meds. Some other harmful and addictive substances have a similar thing going. Cocaine used to be in soda and opium and its derivatives were and still are used in medicine. Where do we draw the line between which ones are okay and which ones aren't?

I'd say intent matters but with some catches. We know our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, which we should bear in mind. The potential for medicinal substances doing more harm than good needs to be weighed in.

This is a very valid point, sometimes it's the why of what we do that is the sin in many cases more than the what itself is since that is just an expression of the root cause of it.

As a man thinketh ........

We're called to be like Jesus (Romans 8:29, Ephesians 5:1) and He didn't do dope, so this should solve the question.

Just because a doctor prescribes something does not mean it's any different than doing dope!

Over the years I've heard so many stories of doctors not knowing what they are doing and medical science being not much more than experimentation so... I'll trust the Lord Jesus Christ for my physical, mental, and spiritual well being.

I've had numerous things try to come on my body over the years that most people would have dialed 911 over but I called the Lord instead and He delivered me!

Psalm 34:4
I sought the LORD, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.

Turns out the devil can bring forth lying manifestations on people's bodies and if they accept it... they just bought it and it becomes permanent.

I don't get along with the devil at all so I reject his attacks and use the Sword of the Spirit (God's Word) as a mighty weapon to knock the devil back without fail because God's Word cannot fail.

James 4:7
Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

The definition of resisting the devil is... submitting yourself to the Lord!

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
