Their own Bible (the Tanakh) prophesies the New Covenant:

Jeremiah 31:31–34 (NKJV)
31 “Behold, the days are coming, says the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah—
32 not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt, My covenant which they broke, though I was a husband to them, says the Lord.
33 But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord: I will put My law in their minds, and write it on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.
34 No more shall every man teach his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ for they all shall know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them, says the Lord. For I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I will remember no more.”

• with the House of Israel and the House of Judah (so there is no mistake it is with the Jewish people)
• NOT according to Torah (the covenant God made with their fathers when he led them out of Egypt)
• The people broke that covenant (Deuteronomy 28 lays out the benefits of keeping the covenant and the detriment for breaking it)
• God will put HIS Law in the minds and hearts of the New Covenant people (bear in mind this is in contrast with Torah: the Law of Moses)
• God will be their God and they shall be God's people (Hosea 1:9-10 records conditions depended upon the people keeping Torah that they are not God's people. Bear in mind Jeremiah 31:35-37 that God is not finished with the Jewish people ever)
• The New Covenant people will know who YHVH is (Jesus is YHVH incarnate)
•  God will forever forgive the sins of the New Covenant people which is also unlike Torah / Law of Moses

There are many messiahs in Tanakh, but there is one ultimate Messiah who is prophesied in:

Genesis 3:15 (NKJV)
15 And I will put enmity Between you and the woman, And between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, And you shall bruise His heel.”

Deuteronomy 18:15–19 (NKJV)
15 “The Lord your God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from your midst, from your brethren. Him you shall hear,
16 according to all you desired of the Lord your God in Horeb in the day of the assembly, saying, ‘Let me not hear again the voice of the Lord my God, nor let me see this great fire anymore, lest I die.’
17 “And the Lord said to me: ‘What they have spoken is good.
18 I will raise up for them a Prophet like you from among their brethren, and will put My words in His mouth, and He shall speak to them all that I command Him.
19 And it shall be that whoever will not hear My words, which He speaks in My name, I will require it of him.

Isaiah 7:14 (NKJV)
14 Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel.

Isaiah 9:6 (NKJV)
6 For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Isaiah 52:13–53:12 (NKJV)
13 Behold, My Servant shall deal prudently; He shall be exalted and extolled and be very high.

Daniel 9:25–26 (NKJV)
25 “Know therefore and understand, That from the going forth of the command To restore and build Jerusalem Until Messiah the Prince, There shall be seven weeks and sixty-two weeks; The street shall be built again, and the wall, Even in troublesome times.
26 “And after the sixty-two weeks Messiah shall be cut off, but not for Himself; And the people of the prince who is to come Shall destroy the city and the sanctuary. The end of it shall be with a flood, And till the end of the war desolations are determined.

Micah 5:2–5 (NKJV)
2 “But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, Though you are little among the thousands of Judah, Yet out of you shall come forth to Me The One to be Ruler in Israel, Whose goings forth are from of old, From everlasting.”
3 Therefore He shall give them up, Until the time that she who is in labor has given birth; Then the remnant of His brethren Shall return to the children of Israel.

Greeks (Gentiles) do not realize the prophecy, the reveal  of Yeshua, in neither the Tanakh nor the New Covenant.

Neither Jew nor Gentile know Yeshua except that the Holy Spirit (God)  calls them specifically to that realization.

The Bible in it's entirety  is neither Jewish nor Greek, but is universal to all, and is foolishness to all until each individual soul is called by the Holy Spirit.

I've always sort of wondered how the Jews think they will recognize the Messiah when he comes since they don't recognize Jesus who seems to have fulfilled the requirements.

What do they expect him to be or do that will make him obvious to them>

Defeat the physical enemies of Israel and establish the country as his earthly kingdom as it is, though reclaimed from Palestinian rule completely. I have always wondered if the Lord will reunite Israel and Jordan once again. It's a good idea to keep our eyes on Israel in these times.

Jesus is the Word. Faith comes by hearing the word. The word calls, to those who will hear. His sheep hears his voice.
Jew or Gentile, all have ears to hear.          “If anyone has ears to hear, let him hear.”
